We just put in on Crow Lake in Nestor Falls, Ontario, Canada.
We were told that this is one of the clearer lakes in the area, where you can be able to
see down through the water 25-30 feet.
Looks like it's a little bit bigger lake.
So far the wind's not too bad.
Paddled out and there's multiple small islands here with kind of cliff-type outcroppings
and the water drops off pretty steep right off of them.
But the water is exceptionally clear in a blue color.
Extremely pretty.
We've got a little bit of a makeshift map here.
It's not directions like a map to travel by with a compass or anything, but it gives us
a good idea.
And I've been dropping waypoints on my phone as we hit different islands, so we can follow
those back if need be.
This is just a small island that we pulled up onto, and it's got a good open area up
on the top where someone's brought in an old wheel to make a fire grate and probably just
a little bit of a day camp, have a fire.
Oh my gosh.
This is huge.
That one though, you could see how tall it, I mean it looked like it could have been 10-12
foot tall.
I think the islands would look neat in the winter with the, you know, it's iced over
and snow out on it.
A lot of the shorelines on these islands are pretty rugged, steep rocks, and you can see
down into the water.
It just continues deep with big boulders that probably slid off of the island itself laying
down in the water at the edge.
There's rocks down in there too.
Stopped in here on an island, a little bare rock area for a light lunch and a break, perhaps
a nap afterwards.
You can take a shower to make it through.
Debbie's looking for a swim spot here around this island.
The boulders are a couple, two, three feet under, kind of in between the islands.
Definitely some big flat rocks you could stand on and then slip down into the deeper water
if you dare.
I probably don't dare.
You can see clear to the bottom.
Feels pretty good once you get in.
Can you see my feet?
Yeah.
How deep?
Are you touching?
I can right there on a rock, yeah.
As it turns out, the water was warm enough even I got in and had a little swim.
No tree is safe from Bucky the beaver.
Looks like he's gone all the way through and then it just slid over and then caught.
It caught up in these other trees and didn't go all the way down.
I'm seeing another tree that's not as big as this one, but he's been working on it as
well.
I'm just kind of paddling this shoreline in the shade, but this has been our trip out
on Crow Lake.
So we made it back to the landing and getting ready to load the canoe back up on the trailer
and head off to camp.
