Izzy and Michaela. So I am riding Max. I'm on Errol and I'm doing the same test.
We're going head to head. We're going to see who wins. I think I know where I'm going.
Okay. I think I know where I'm going.
Still going wrong.
And then they kept tooting and I was like, who are they tooting at?
Now I feel like this is harsh. Oh no.
She gave me a huge smile at the end. She gave me a huge smile.
Come on love. You want that bad?
If she's a dodgy rider, Errol would be all right.
Excuse me. You nearly went wrong and you learned the test wrong.
I don't want to go wrong so I wouldn't know.
She's gone on a strike. She wants to.
Brilliant. I'll bring that one in then, shall I?
Hey guys and welcome back to my channel. Welcome back to another blog. So today we are heading to
a dressage competition with Max and Errol. They are all plaited up, but I am not the one riding.
So we're going to spin you around, show you who we've got.
Izzy and Michaela. So why don't you guys tell us who you're riding and what you're doing?
So I am riding Max, which I thought was the safe, fun option. Apparently not.
And we are doing the three, them, one test.
I'm on Errol and I'm doing the same test. We're going head to head.
We're going to see who wins.
We're going to battle it out.
Yeah. So basically Izzy is riding Max. Max hasn't been to a competition since August.
But obviously he is more experienced than Errol. Michaela's never taken Errol to a competition,
but he has done a bit more this year, but he is young.
No, I think it is very head to head. I actually did school your horse yesterday.
I didn't school Errol.
Yeah. I gave her a plaque for that. Excuse me, why are you schooling Errol?
You got to ride your horse on the weekend and I didn't.
Yeah. And I put you in the dressage saddle actually.
I put you in the dressage saddle.
So they're all plaited up. We're going to get them loaded, head on our way.
It is an evening competition, so it probably will be a bit dark.
It will be dark. Because I'm riding at 7pm, so that will be me.
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So we're going to get them loaded and head on our way.
This is my sleeve.
Looking quite smart. Actually, they've been plaited.
I washed their legs, their tail this morning, pulled their mane, so it was easier to plait.
Sure he won't when he gets there.
Come on Max, you could look a bit more alive.
Come on Tom.
Okay guys, so we've arrived at Merriswood. It is threatening to rain a bit, so hopefully
it holds off while they both do their test. So we're just going to get them out and get them
tacked up. You alright? I've actually got the wrong horses, but this is a good start.
They look similar anyway.
I did try and scrub that a bit, but...
You've got so much food as well.
Yeah.
Right, favouritism, we'll see how it is.
Well, I just thought the Devacu, you can have the Devacu.
I should have brought my thick Equadry.
I don't know if they're quite there.
Yeah, no, I think I am.
You're about to ride, I'm not.
Still September, I don't know if they're there yet.
I think some of those other women had their thick Equadry's on or whatever, you know?
Yeah, they've not got too tight.
It's a little tight, but we'll make do.
I did the test, I put it on and I was just doing this and I was like, yep, it shouldn't come off.
You're literally in the back of this video.
Izzy, put the jacket on.
Oh, God.
At this point, I think we've all seen me in a hairnet enough times to just...
Yep.
Dirty, actually.
No, you look all right.
Nice.
Okay, Izzy, so Max is tacked up, ready to go.
How are you feeling?
Good.
I'm glad that I ran for the test with Michaela before,
because I realised I'd just missed a big bit out.
So that's good.
Okay, so you now know where you're going.
I now think I know where I'm going.
Okay, well, that's, I guess, positive.
Okay, right, let's get on.
Michaela, aerals all ready.
How are you feeling?
Yeah.
I think I know where I'm going.
If anything, I think that's the most trouble I'm going to have,
to be honest, is remembering the test.
But we'll see if those are the famous last words.
Okay.
Michaela is on first, followed straight away by Izzy and Max.
So let's go.
No, I can't, I can't cope with that one, I do not.
I don't blame you.
There's another lady over there, and I was going to ask...
Oh, my God, I can't do it.
Yeah, you feel, you love that.
I think we did put it on a bit of a wobble, didn't we?
Yeah.
And to stop people like us using it there.
Thank you.
Can't even get to the warm-up arena.
How are you feeling?
Yeah, good. He's listening more today.
Yeah.
Time to transition.
I think I'm just holding onto his mouth a little bit too much,
so then he's kind of breaking into trotting.
Yeah.
Hands soft.
Yeah.
Leg on.
Because he's spooking so much.
He hasn't been ridden in the dark in a long, long time.
No.
He's doing really well.
And in there, even in the canter,
you might have to do half halt a bit, but lots of leg.
Lots of leg at the same time.
Yeah.
I didn't think it was horrific, considering it's my first.
I mean, I think it was far from horrific.
I think the trot work was really nice.
Yeah.
Trot work was really nice.
I thought my walk work was weak.
The walk, he like throws his head a bit, which is a bit annoying.
It's like standing on his feet.
Yeah.
I think it was going to be horrific.
Yeah.
And your canter, your second canter was better than the first.
Obviously, you did go wrong, so that's just a big rookie error there.
On the first canter, because he wasn't going into canter straight away,
I was so focused on getting the canter that I then just started trying to recircle it in.
I should have gone down to A.
I should have recircled it.
Yeah, and then he kept tooting, and I was like, who are they tooting at?
And I was like, it was me.
And then as soon as she said to me, you then knew.
Yeah, you then knew, didn't you?
I was like, oh god, I am.
Oh, I have gone in the wrong place, which is annoying.
But I did learn the test today with 15 minutes.
So I should have just learnt the test earlier and actually ran through it, I think.
I normally at least try and run through the test once on a horse,
and I think that really helps me learn it.
And yeah, I'd say we failed.
I shouldn't have told Izzy the right way to go, basically, in the car,
because then we'd be on an even playing field.
He did buck into canter, though, so yeah.
And now I thought he was, he wasn't.
No, I was really impressed with him because it's a spooky arena with that.
You know, you think, the last time we brought Tiny,
he hated the box, but he literally went in and it was,
he didn't even bat an eyelid, so that was really good.
No, I think overall, both really nice tests.
I think my second canter, the first canter was the wrong canter.
Yes.
The second canter was nice, and then the third was even nicer.
Yeah.
Three, basically.
Which actually will help you because you'll only get marked down,
you will get marked down two, but then your canter was actually better.
The second time.
How are you feeling, Izzy?
Yeah, good, much better.
Yeah?
The more canter I'm doing, the more excited he's getting.
Yes, yeah.
But yeah, he's doing really well.
He looks good, yeah.
Yeah, he's been very good for his first competition back in over a year.
How do you think that went?
Yeah, good.
I think I still need to learn how to ride in tests.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, I thought he was really good.
He got a bit excited the first canter transition.
And then I was like, okay, let's just try and keep it.
Yeah, he held it together.
And did you almost go wrong in your walk?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, no, they didn't.
No, that was good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You'll lose a couple marks, but hopefully not.
Yeah, no, I thought it was really good.
I know what you mean, because you could still go into your corners a bit more, keep...
And I just like, he went so well out here, and I went in there, and I was like...
Yeah.
And I just don't ride as well as...
Yeah, but that's just still practice.
Yeah, you just got to keep practicing.
Yeah, no, okay, that was really good.
Yeah, yeah, and he only got a little bit overexcited.
Yeah, good boy.
Okay, guys, well, you guys can guess.
You can't guess each other's because you didn't see it.
We'll do guess the scores, so I'll guess, obviously, both of yours,
and you can guess each of yours.
Yeah.
How many marks do you get deducted for...
I think it's just two.
Are we doing dressage scoring?
So dressage scoring.
Oh, hang on, then.
So like a 30 would be 70.
I reckon 69.2.
69.2.
I was going to say 68 for me, but...
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm going to go 68.
Yeah, okay, and I'll go...
Is that on me?
I'll go...
I don't think you're far wrong with either of those, actually.
They were both very nice, and I think you'll be both quite close.
Apart from my wrong going, I thought my test was very accurate.
No, I thought your test was really good, apart from going wrong.
Izzy's was really good, apart from the buck and the almost going wrong in the walk.
So you'll lose...
Yeah, she did almost, so she might get...
They didn't buzz me, though, did you?
No.
Oh, because they didn't buzz me.
I'll go, then...
Come on, then.
Yes, 64 for Michaela.
I'll go 67.5.
I thought she said 64, then.
I was going to say, oh, I didn't think it was that bad.
And the thing is that if they're marking really nicely, it might...
Both of you might be, then.
That's the thing.
I'll go 67.5 and, yeah, probably 68.4 for you.
Okay, let's see.
Okay, guys, so the scores are in.
I feel like we were really far off.
We've changed our minds.
They are marking harshly.
Before, I looked, the highest score was 65.8.
Now, I feel like this is harsh.
Oh, no.
But this, yeah, this is...
So, Michaela's is 63.8.
Okay, it's not as...
Considering that the others are 65, yeah, true.
I'm not...
So, because I would have been 65.
That is low, though, because that would be an event in, what, 36 point something.
Yeah, I still feel like...
I feel like it was a better mark, a better test than that.
But, I mean, there is, like, there's a 54, a 47, a 57, a 58.
47?
So, they are being mean.
God, what happened to us?
What's... Honestly...
I don't know.
To the judge at Merricks Wood, I hope you're doing okay, because...
Come on, love, you weren't that bad.
Izzy's...
Oh, God, mine's going to be awful.
Look at Ashley's face.
No, I think that means you did better.
No, I think that means I did bad.
69.8.
Yeah, yeah, that's...
You're in first at the minute.
I think it's not what I guessed.
Yeah, I think it is.
I think it is, yeah.
Wait, roll the tape, Scott.
I think that's what I guessed.
69.2.
You did get 69.
Yeah, I think you did, yeah.
Yeah, because I said 68.
You did say 69.
Come on, Max.
There you go.
Next time, we're stopping.
Yeah.
Right, get rid of Tidy.
I mean, Max.
But do you know what, though?
Dress, they do love Max, don't they?
Dress up, judge.
Yeah, they do love Max.
She gave me a huge smile at the end, that should have been a sign.
Yeah, she didn't even look at me.
Well, she gave me a huge smile at the end.
So, you know you did well, guys.
Do you know what we like, Carol, though?
I do think that is a bit harsh.
Because I know you did go wrong, but I do think that is a bit harsh.
I thought it was still a nice test.
Yeah.
God, and that was with a buck, so.
Yeah.
Yeah, if you didn't do your buck.
And if you didn't nearly go wrong.
Yeah, really good.
We're all pinnaculing me, Carol.
Right, can I bring him out again?
Yeah, yeah, of course you can.
Still got a few to go yet, but.
Come on, fingers crossed.
Fingers crossed.
I think that is a good, because she clearly is marking harshly, so.
Hilarious if the first number one rosette I get is not even on my own list.
It's not mine.
But then, maybe we should go and leave things,
otherwise you won't get your rosette.
Leave a what?
Leave what?
Like, ask them to send it in a number, like.
Oh, yeah, you have to pay your number, don't you?
Should we go do that?
Yeah.
Yeah, don't say it.
Could they put Michaela's test in there as well?
Yeah.
Do you have cash?
Because I've got some cash.
Oh, I've got cash.
If you can walk round.
Yeah, yeah, guys, we'll be back in a minute.
A very pregnant lady and you're my seat at the minute.
The dog, where's she going now?
The dog's just decided that she's gone on strike.
She wants the heated seat.
She's just jumped over the back, jumped onto Ash and jumped into the front.
That is Izzy's seat, though.
You're going to have to give that back up in a minute.
She says it's Izzy's seat, but it is my car.
So, actually, it is Izzy's seat.
Right, guys, it's 8.52 p.m.
It's been a long old day.
Boys are ready to go out.
Guys, 8.52 p.m.
We're a bit tired, aren't we?
We are a bit tired.
We're a bit tired.
We're a bit haggard.
Oh, we haven't looked.
It should be finished by now, the full results.
Let me have a look.
Let me see if I can get it up.
Be right back, guys.
Results are in.
So, Izzy, we know, got 69.8.
Michaela got 60.8.
Oh, someone just beat Izzy.
Oh, no.
They got 70.8 and Izzy got 69.8.
I mean, we're still very happy with the second, but...
I'm not.
Second's the first loser.
I think second's a good place.
I'm joking.
I am really happy.
That's very good.
And Michaela came eighth.
Nice, Mick.
Yeah, not horrific.
Because they were marking harshly.
Yeah, I must admit, guys, I do think my test was worth more than what they gave.
Obviously, I docked two for the...
Is it definitely two?
Is it not four?
It's two.
We'll find out.
We're getting the score sheets and then we can do a bit more.
I don't want to go wrong, so I wouldn't know.
But I still think that is, she was marking harshly.
So even with you going wrong, you still came eighth.
So I think that is still good.
But overall, I think, well, we're very pleased with Max.
Yeah.
We are very pleased.
Only a bit pleased with you.
Still only Errol's first proper year out.
Yeah, forget me.
Think about Errol for a second.
He's done a blimmin' good job, hasn't he?
Yeah, if they issued a dodgy rider, Errol would be all right.
Excuse me, you nearly went wrong and you learned the test wrong.
So we hope you guys enjoyed this vlog.
