Hi everybody, it's Jennifer. It's Two for Tuesday homophone lesson time.
Homophones are words that are pronounced exactly the same way.
They just have different spellings and different meanings. Our words today are vile, which is
extremely unpleasant or wicked, and vile, a small bottle.
Let's learn these as a two-syllable word.
Vile, vile, vile. I do hear some people say vile, but I think that is a little confusing sometimes
to your listener, so let's stick with the two-syllable option today. Just know that you do
have options here. To say this word correctly, we are going to start with that v-y. To do that,
start with that v-v. To do this, gently bite the inside or the outside of that bottom lip.
Your lips are pulled back and the air is going to continuously move out of your mouth. Vile,
vile. We're going to move to that I, and you're going to do that by opening your mouth wide and
then moving to a smile. I, vi, vi, vi. Then we're going to end with the O, and to do that,
your mouth is just going to open again and then you are going to move to the L. O. To do that,
your tongue is going to go from the middle of your mouth to touching the back of the top front
teeth where the skin and the teeth meet on the roof of the mouth. Vile, vile, vile, vile, vile.
You may be asking, what is the difference between the word vile and wild? For this word,
you are going to have the W with puckered lips. Wild. So vile, vile, vile, vile, vile, vile, vile,
vile, vile, vile, vile. And now for a sentence. The liquid in the vial is very vile. Give it a try.
I know people are going to notice the difference. I hope you found this helpful. If you did,
please share this with your friends. Give us a like and let me know what you think in the
