The ancient Egyptian god Horus is one of the most important divinity of the Egyptian mythology, he is the falcon god symbol of kingship and justice and every king of Egypt were considered to be his Earthly incarnation. The name Horus is said to mean the distant one or the one on high, a reference to his as the god of the sky. The name Horus comes from the Egyptian term Heru, Har or Hor, but was later Latinized to become the name Horus which is very well-known today. The god Horus is said to be the synthesis of two deities. In his first incarnation, this Kemetic god was known as Horus the Elder or blind Horus, one of the primeval being born shortly after the creation of the world alongside the gods Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephtys. In this form, the falcon headed god Horus was the god of the sky while his older brother Osiris has dominion over the Earth, the Egyptian god Horus was also called Haroeris by the Greeks. In old texts, Blind Horus was the consort of the cow goddess Hathor and was the first to die by the jealousy of his brother Seth. In his second incarnation, Horus was the posthumous son of Isis and Osiris, he was often called Harpocrates or Hasiesis by the Greeks, whom identified Horus with their god of silence. In time, the Egyptian god Horus was called Horakhti, which means Horus of the horizon, and was later linked with the sun god Ra to form a deity called Ra-Horakhti often depicted as a solar disc surmounted by falcon wings. Born as the son of Isis and Osiris, the falcon god Horus became the pillar of his mother and the avenger of his murdered father, Osiris. The story of Horus which is probably the most popular, is the Contendings of Horus and Seth in which the god fights his uncle for the throne of Egypt. And the eye of Horus was born out of that story.
