You should use wire with diameter of 0.3mm ( 28 gauge ) for easy manipulation. This wire only works to fix the details, so you can do it any way you want

20 gauge ( wire diameter 0.8mm ) : 30cm ( 12 inch)
28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 20cm ( 8 inch)
