Today we were invited to meet some of Tottenham's top players at the Spurs training ground. We couldn’t give pro footballers loads of food, so we got everything checked off with their nutritionist and made sure that it was the highest quality Korean beef BBQ we could find! Thanks to Heung-Min Son, Eric Dier, Pierre Emile Hjøjbjerg and Hugo Lloris for filming with us.
A few days ago, we took a barbecue table to Tottenham Stadium
and introduced Korean food to the legendary players.
Thankfully, they invited us again,
so we got to meet the best Tottenham players at the training ground this time.
We were checked by a professional nutritionist at the time,
and prepared the highest quality Korean beef we could find.
Here they are.
What are we eating?
We're having a barbecue party.
Looking good.
Hey guys.
Hello.
How's it going?
Good, thank you.
Yeah, very good.
Very good.
Josh.
Good to see you again, mate.
How are you doing?
Yeah.
Welcome, guys.
Come on in.
Thanks very much for having us here.
You were at your training grounds?
With a Korean barbecue.
Couldn't be any better, really.
The sun could be out, but I got the sun.
Last time we filmed with you, Sonny,
we tested your knowledge of how well you knew British food.
Sure.
You tried sticky toffee pudding for the first time ever.
You also tried jelly deals.
I've never tried them.
Today, we're going to be trying probably the best Korean beef barbecue
that you can find in the UK.
Oh, lovely.
Does that look good?
Very nice.
It's looking good.
It's a good start.
That's amazing quality.
Today, we've got chadolbagi to start,
and this is like on your barbecue.
Looks a little like bacon to me.
It does.
It looks like a bacon, but it tastes different.
This is very thinly cut beef brisket.
And every family in Korea has a thing like this at home?
Every Korean barbecue restaurant will have a sort of barbecue
built into the table usually.
Okay.
Sometimes they'll use proper charcoal coals as well.
And then you barbecue things at the table.
It's sort of a very communal experience.
There you go, guys.
There you are.
Thank you very much.
Kim Min, how do we eat this?
The guy always eat alongside with this sauce.
Oh, you're going straight in with a ssam.
Okay.
Let's do it.
Why not?
A little bit of pajeori.
I'll just copy you, bro.
In Korea, you'd call this a ssam.
Exactly.
And that goes all-in-one.
All-in-one.
All-in-one, absolutely.
Big mouth.
And then just...
All-in-one, all-in-one.
Yeah.
Can you have the whole thing?
Yeah, ssam is supposed to be all-in-one.
Oh, yeah.
Good job.
Well played.
I can bring some more.
Very fresh.
I've got a tiny little bit if you want to try the meat by itself.
Just dip it into that sesame oil there.
So you've got a bit of salt in there as well.
The taste sort of brings out the flavor of the meat a little bit more.
Yeah.
We're going to say to the manager we stay here all afternoon.
People behind the camera are like, no, no, no.
Sensational.
Like it.
I don't know if it's that or that, but one of those is very nice.
Yeah, give the ssamjang a little taste by itself.
Maybe it's that one.
I'm always having this, doesn't matter what happens.
You're always with the ssamjang?
Always, always.
I'm a big fan of ssamjang.
Me too.
France and Denmark, you guys have a good standard of food.
But it's a different food, different style.
Very fresh.
It's also very social.
It's my style also, like talking, also conversations.
Exactly.
All right, should we put the next bit of meat on the barbecue?
Let's do it.
What's next?
Okay, all right, what's next?
We're not wasting any time here.
Okay, all right, stop.
No time to talk.
Let's put some meat on the barbecue.
Okay.
Next, we're going to go for salchisal.
Salchisal.
Salchi.
So we started thin, we go medium, and then there's a good one, good.
There's a block.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're getting thicker, we're getting thicker.
Do you like salchi?
Yes, I like salchi.
I think it's my favorite.
Really?
It's got a little bit more texture, a little bit chewier, but a lot of flavor.
They call it the chuck.
It's basically like...
Yeah, I know.
Okay, yeah, oh yeah, you know your steaks.
I ain't playing no games.
He's a foodie.
I ain't playing no games.
Chuck.
Well, in Korea, they cut the chuck a little bit differently.
So you can see it's very thinly sliced, heavily marbled.
So you guys going to Korea soon for the Coupang Play series?
Yep.
Very excited, my first time.
First time.
First time in Korea.
Obviously, going with Sonny is going to be special as well.
Sonny is going to lead the team.
On and off the pitch.
Yeah, that's good.
What are you most excited about out there?
The Korean barbecue.
Brilliant.
I think the main reason is to go over and to meet the fans.
Especially after the hard time that the world had with the pandemic.
So yeah, it's going to be quite exciting to go there.
Brilliant.
What are you most excited to show the guys out in Korea?
Oh, to be honest, I'm a little bit worried about it,
because I think the guys are really excited.
I don't want them to just come back with the disappointment.
Right, you're feeling the pressure.
Yeah, I feel I didn't represent Korea.
So...
It'll be fine.
I'm really excited.
We're going with the lads back hometown and playing games, see the cultures.
I'm just excited for everything.
I've been with every single club, you know.
I'm in Hamburg, Leverkusen.
Both team in South Korea with the teams.
So I think with Spurs, it'll be also really, really cool.
And I hope everyone enjoys it.
Okay.
Saechi-san, you ready to try this?
Look at that.
The oil.
Nice.
Look at that.
That's good.
That looks good.
Incredible, incredible.
Incredible.
Especially, I don't used to like chewy meat.
Yeah, of course, of course.
But with this sauce.
Yeah.
Top.
It's good, right?
Well, that's the thing.
I mean, when you say chewy, you could think it's like going to be tough.
Yeah, yeah.
But it's kind of tender and chewy.
It's soft.
Yeah, soft and chewy, right?
Give that a taste.
That's amazing.
Wow.
It's not too chewy.
It must be heavily marbled.
You bought some good quality.
It's good stuff.
You bought some good quality stuff.
Well, in Korea, it's on a different level.
Don't tell him.
Then I feel more pressure because then I need to show them really good restaurants.
What I want you to do is start organizing now.
I want Korean barbecue followed by karaoke, okay?
And some easy training sessions.
Sonny is a good singer.
Sonny is a good singer?
Yeah, very good.
Okay.
Wow, I didn't know that.
What's the name of this?
Gangnam Style.
Top, huh?
Top level.
Wow.
What's for Christmas party?
Okay, Christmas party.
That sounds about right.
I want to see that.
Did you ever try the kimchi?
I've tried kimchi.
I think in the restaurant, we tried it.
Should we put some kimchi on the barbecue as well?
I think it's a good idea.
Have you ever barbecued?
No, no, no.
Okay, okay.
It's going to be difficult to move and train today.
Like yesterday.
It's already difficult for me.
What's this sauce called?
Ssamjang.
And then...
Yeah?
Yeah, a bit of pajeori.
This is always a...
Pajeori.
Fantastic.
Look at this.
That is a bit of art, what you've made right there.
See that?
That's Instagram worthy.
You make me hungry, yeah?
Go for it, Sonny.
I like the kimchi, it gives it a little crunch.
It does.
I like that texture.
I like the texture that it gives it.
Eggs?
This is an egg, yeah.
This is my wife, Gabie.
Say thank you.
This is mine.
You've taught him well.
He knew it before, so...
Okay, okay.
This is called a gyeranjjim.
Gyeranjjim.
Very good, very good.
Wow.
It's basically like an egg souffle.
Yeah, get your spoon in there.
Just get a little bit.
So the chopsticks are going to look a little bit...
Yeah.
You like that?
Yeah, I like that a lot.
What do you don't like?
Tell me, to be honest, you know.
I think that's a quicker...
This is very nice as well.
Gyeranjjim, you like that?
Wow.
Like, no disrespect to egg.
Yeah.
But I'm surprised how flavoury it is.
Yeah, it's well seasoned, right?
How many eggs you put inside?
Oh, Gabie, how many eggs are in there?
Three.
Three eggs.
Only three?
Just three eggs.
Just three eggs for this?
Yeah.
I can feed my kids with this.
This is all quite healthy as well, no?
That's it.
I mean, we had to get it signed off with your nutritionist.
Yeah, he's right there.
You see, he's watching us.
He's looking in his eyes.
We're the first burgers.
Well, I was going to try and introduce some soju to you guys.
Oh, don't start with it, please.
I wasn't allowed.
Want a little bit as well?
Should we throw this, guys?
Let's go.
So this is kkotdeungsim.
This is like your most premium cut of meat.
Heavily marbled ribeye.
It's a very fine cut, huh?
So I heard that the cows, they get Mozart music and they get massage.
Is that true?
Or is it just the legend?
Yeah, that's the legend.
It's just to make you accept the price, you know?
While you guys are in Korea, you've got two matches.
The first one, I believe, is going to be against the K-League team.
So it'll be a collection of the best players in Korea.
You guys doing anything particular to prepare for those matches?
Eat well.
But it's going to be new for us.
We don't know anything about the South Korean league.
And I think it's always exciting to face players from other countries,
especially as far like South Korea.
Sonny, obviously they're players you know.
Yeah, most of them probably will be my friends.
Just looking forward.
Because it's my first time to play against an all-star.
So I think it'll be a really exciting moment.
And especially for me, it's in hometown.
Probably the stadium will be, I hope it's full.
Yeah, I'm sure it will be full.
I'll cut up a little bit of this for you guys to try before you have to leave.
Yeah, we cannot leave without.
You can't leave without trying this.
The gold, the gold.
This is a piece of gold.
Oh, look at that.
Okay, so for this one, sprinkle just a little bit of salt onto it.
Straight first.
Straight, give it a taste.
You want to taste the meat.
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
It's so soft.
Yeah, yeah.
You say it's melting, no?
Melting, yeah.
It tastes very, very good.
Tastes good?
Yeah.
You're used to cut your meat, but like this you could just...
You don't even need to cut it.
Incredible.
It's strange to taste beef like you've never really tasted it before, you know?
It's different, right?
We are a bit unlucky because we have the session afterwards.
I know, I know.
You guys can't eat as much.
We should have had the session first and then spend all the afternoon...
Just eating, yeah.
If we filmed after your training session.
Well, next time if we meet in Korea, we'll have to do a big Korean barbecue after your games.
Then you guys can eat as much as you want.
That's a great idea.
Sounds good?
Yeah, yeah, sounds good.
I'm loving this because if someone tries Korean food and somebody makes a smile,
it makes me very happy.
It makes you proud.
Proud or something.
Most people like this barbecue kind of thing, so thank you for bringing this amazing food.
Pleasure, thanks so much for that.
Thank you.
Been here to try it.
Oh, thank you.
Very good.
If you guys want to catch these guys in Korea,
you can watch the games on Coupang Play or buy tickets in the link below.
Very good, very good.
