stre 207 on a Monday afternoon 508 996
0500 is the number and still a lot of
clouds out there and um still some
puddles every now and then I see a
raindrop land in one of those puddles
out there uh thanks for joining me today
appreciate it very much and thanks again
to Brian for filling in for the last
week while I was
out and
um and now we're back we've got today
and tomorrow and then Wednesday is a
holiday and then we're back Thursday and
Friday so we have a split week today's
kind of like a Monday Monday Monday and
tomorrow it's like a Tuesday Friday kind
of sort of with a one day weekend in the
middle right and then we're back on
Thursday and Friday and then we pick it
up strong from there got a lot of things
going on this year I mean this is going
to be a big year we've got the um uh
well we've got the the funeral for Jimmy
Carter coming up probably next
week and um I believe it was uh January
9th and of course the certification of
the the votes the Electoral College
votes um we've got the um the
inauguration on January
20th and it's going to be interesting to
see
which executive orders will be handed
down I mean that's that's the new thing
the last
uh few years is last few administrations
get as many executive orders out there
on Election Day so uh we'll see about
that and um also this is a local
election
year the city of New Bedford will be
electing folks folks out there in full
River Taunton Mayors going to be up for
re-election this year uh or maybe some
new
blood now Mayor John Mitchell has not
indicated whether or not he plans to
seek another term he never does he
usually waits till about
August before he um makes his intentions
known so it's going to be a few months
before we understand who is going to
run over the course of the last 10 12
years how many years has John Mitchell
been in 14 now right maybe I don't
remember but it's been a
while he's had very little in the way of
competition uh folks tend to wait and
see what he's going to do and then
decide whether they're going to run or
not I think if John Mitchell decides not
to seek reelection you will see the
floodgates open and there will be uh
maybe as as many as 15 candidates for
mayor you may actually see some
folks decide that this is their time
even if John Mitchell does decide to
seek re-election I mean think about it
if you are a
um if you Linda Morad or Tony cabal the
last really serious contenders to run
from
mayor that first year that John Mitchell
won
um and you're saying well I'll wait till
he you know serves a few terms or he
loses or whatever and then I'll
challenge him again but he's been a
pretty popular mayor has your time
coming
gone has your time coming gone has that
window closed for you I mean you want to
think about Mayors I mean just look
around the city council right Brian
Gomes is my
age he has run and has
um not ruled out the possibility of
another run he en has talked about it uh
Linda Morad has actually run and has
talked about it I'm trying to think off
the top of my
head uh who else might run in the
council um I'm trying to remember who's
on the council so happens you only get a
few hours sleep right I can't can't even
recall everybody who's on the council
but um certainly we know Tony cabal has
been interested in it he he's run in the
past as he won it now at his age he's
about my age too
um so I I don't know it's going to be an
interesting year which counselors are
going to stay which ones are going to
go will we have any new people throwing
their head the ring uh we've seen
Massachusetts move a little bit more to
the right and um that could bring people
out this
year I asked you about the biggest news
story of the year before I went to
break and um
as far as the most under reported Story
of the
Year CBS reporter Jan
Crawford said yesterday on
[Music]
um he was Face the Nation on
CBS she said President Joe Biden's
obvious cognitive decline was the most
underreported story of
2024 well if it was so underreported why
didn't you report on
anymore hello what did you just wake up
one morning and say gee I think that was
the most underreported story uh didn't
you realize it as it was happening you
know Joe Biden is uh out in the Virgin
Islands because who doesn't need another
vacation right Joe Biden is out on the
Virgin Islands and um apparently spoke
to the
[Music]
uh Folks At The Washington
Post and his indicated that he regrets
not seeking re-election this
year he regrets not seeking re-election
this year he he thinks he going to beat
Trump what color are the mushrooms in
the Virgin Islands Joe
Biden anyway Joe Biden also reportedly
regrets
selecting Merrick
Garland as his attorney
general complaining that Merck Garland
moved too slowly and that Trump might
have been taken down and put away and
and not even
uh a candidate for president had
somebody with greater speed moved
against him earlier
on so all of those meetings at the White
House with all these states prosecutors
I guess didn't didn't work out for you
Joe huh but anyway Jan Crawford of CBS
News conceded that um Biden's declining
mental acuity appeared obvious to all
but members of the corporate media whose
very job it was to cover the White House
and its occupant well again it's a case
of he's not Trump I mean it's amazing
what you can get away with if you are
not Trump
they will excuse everything they will
trip all over your issues and your
problems as long as you're not job so it
doesn't shock me that they didn't notice
because Biden was not Trump he was an
acceptable alternative to
Trump was funny he was having a
political discussion with somebody over
the weekend um talking about Barack
Obama the person told me I like Obama
and I said Obama was a con
artist and the person said and Trump's
not see where that
goes all the time every
time Obama's a COR artist and Trump's
not
Crawford by the way is cbs's Chief legal
correspondent and she said that the
entire 2024 election could have been
reshaped if Biden's mental Fitness had
been addressed earlier in the
election cycle by the Washington press
court so you see what she's saying here
right she's not saying Biden got away
with something or or whatever she's
saying you know damn um we could have
beaten
Trump had we taken out Biden
sooner because it was the press that
took Biden out certainly Nancy Pelosi
had to go and U tie a rope around his
neck and and and yank him out of his
chair but it was the press that led to
it after the after the debate July 13th
debate would Trump clean the floor with
him it was the press that that turned on
Biden oh my God this is this is horrible
this is terrible this guy's got to go
he's got to go that gave rise to KLA
Harris
unchecked
unfettered just threw it right in there
unvetted
but I mean the Press tried to cover up
Joe Biden they knew what Joe Biden
was they knew what he was they dealt
with him all the
time they'll talk about their sources
our sources within the White House tell
us this and tell us that their sources
in the White House didn't say that the
president of the United States was a was
a humanid vegetable nobody told him had
no idea so the only thing Crawford
regrets here was not that the media
under reported Biden's Condition it's
just said we should have done it sooner
so that we could have forced him out and
had more time to put a viable candidate
up against Donald Trump so all roads
lead to Trump no matter what it is no
matter what the topic is it's all it's
all about
Trump undercovered and under reported
that would be to me Joe Biden's obvious
cognitive decline that became undeniable
in the televised debate craford said she
further noted recent reporting by Wall
Street Journal amongst others including
this outfit CBS addressed how White
House AIDS covered up Biden's mental
decline over the past four years yeah
but you know what I'm not the
smartest kid in the classroom here and
I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree
or sharpest knife in the drawer or
whatever but damn I knew you knew we
talked about it in 2020 2019 we talked
about it that Joe Biden was being hidden
in the basement he wasn't um he wasn't
doing press conferences he wasn't
answering questions he was eating ice
cream and being held in the in the
basement remember we all knew that so
the national news media didn't they
didn't know it because they didn't want
to know it they were part of a
vast
conspiracy you know Hillary Clinton's
vast right-wing conspiracy this was a
last left-wing media and political
conspiracy I mean just go back to square
one I told you this on day
one Bernie Sanders was going to be the
Democrat
nominee and that scared the be Jesus out
of the Democrats and the media
so they dragged out Joe Biden so Joe you
got to do it one more time via country
you got to do you got to do you just got
to run by I don't know I'm cognitively
not here but Joe don't worry about it
we'll we'll do everything for you we'll
just give you ice cream you can stand
down in the yard remember the day he
stood out in the yard to give his press
conference and the bird pooped on him
remember that and all you got to do is
go stand in the yard let the birds poop
on you and and we'll tell you what to
say we'll tell you what to do we'll pull
all of the strings and you can you can
eat ice cream you can do all of these
happy just run and beat Bernie give us
an alternative to Bernie because Bernie
was going to win the Democrat nomination
and I'll be honest with you I think
Bernie might have
beat Donald Trump in 2020 I think Bernie
could have done
it now I don't know why the Democrats
were afraid of Bernie Sanders because
what they were looking for was a Bernie
Sanders they wanted Joe Biden to be
Bernie Sanders I think they they they
like Bernie Sanders
and they liked his
policies but they didn't think he could
beat
Trump they thought that Joe Biden could
be Bernie Sanders in a suit you know
Bernie Sanders a little bit better
known more respected somebody could go
across the um the aisle and and dragging
Women Voters and dragging minority
voters and dragging some males maybe
some Independents or whatever so that
was the chance they took and they were
successful that's what they did that's
how Joe Biden got elected but they knew
the guy was they they knew he was a you
know
short they knew that he was a um he was
a liability but they figured if they
played their cards right and they
managed it and they managed
him they could pull it off problem is
Biden ran out of gas too
soon ran out of gas way too soon
but yet they still lied and they still
tried to cover it up oh no pay no
attention to that guy behind the the
curtain over there Biden's strong he's
leading he's a that came from the
Democrats who all knew that he was um
out to lunch it came from the media all
knew he was out to
lunch but he wasn't Trump and
mysteriously Bernie Sanders got a third
house too by the way remember that bar
got bought his second house after Hill
after he bowed out to Hillary then he
got his third uh
third house after he uh bowed out to I'm
not alleging any you know Shenanigans of
anything like that I'm just
yeah just got to follow the
[Music]
money follow the power Joe Biden is safe
he can win all he has to do is shut
up and follow the Easter money follow
the Easter money
around remember that with the Easter
Bunny out on the the White House front
lawn didn't work they almost pulled it
off they had it going for about three
years they had it going for more than
three years they had it going until
until that debate when the American
public really saw because before that it
was just Fox News it's only Fox News
that were saying that Joe Biden was out
to lunch Joe Biden is fine all the other
the only News why is Fox news saying
that and nobody else is saying that all
the other um hello you've been
snookered simple as
that get your face out of your phone pay
attention and maybe you might see it for
yourself all the people saw it for
themselves they watched that debate they
said
uhoh who is this guy this isn't a joke
Biden that they keep telling us about
Hey Joe Biden what's my Joe Biden
it was all over after
that that allowed the Democrats to Stage
aoup K
[Music]
Harris moved right
in it blew the whole thing up blew it
all up and now the news media oh gee we
should have uh the most underreported
story what yeah and the only reason it
was most underreported stories cuz now
you get
caught that's it all right quick break

yeah goes on 227 on a Monday 508
9965 is our phone number and um you know
speaking about mayor Mitchell this is
piece today in the standard times I
think it was published
today um to be honest with you I don't
tell generally yeah I think it I think
it was published today I generally don't
look at the um uh the newspapers and
things when I'm not working
and
um especially during the holidays but
there was a piece in the Sanda times
today about Mayor John Mitchell uh not
being all that thrilled with the design
for the new Fair Haven
bridge and the story was written by
Frank Mulligan and I got to tell you I
agree with the mayor I I don't I'm I'm
not real happy with it either but
um bridge is over 120 years
old and it's going to go from a a swing
Bridge you know how it swings
open to let the vessels come through
it's going to go from being a swing
bridge to a vertical lift bridge I don't
know if you haven't seen the
um rail Bridge down on the the
canal the rail Bridge it's a it's a
railroad bridge railroad trains go over
the canal on this bridge uh but when big
boats come in the the road actually
lifts straight up in the
air to allow big boats to go
underneath that's the kind of bridge
they want to build here and New
Bedford and
[Music]
um according to Mulligan story here City
officials had questioned the Choice uh
by the Massachusetts Department of
Transportation to pursue that design but
have since accepted Mast Do's
rationale including that it will require
shorter road closings and be less
disruptive to traffic during
construction but see here's the problem
with local politicians we've seen this
for God knows how many years decades
with a train right well if you ask for
this you're going to put your train
money in Jeopardy ask for that you're
never going to get the train how boy how
greedy you are you want a new bridge too
and a train so you know the state comes
in mot comes in and they say this is
what we're going to give you for a
bridge and everybody's like what GE it
could be better but okay okay we don't
want to ruffle any feathers because they
might they might take it away from
us and we've got to lose that mentality
we've got to fight for what we want and
what is right I mean look at Boston
right Boston's got the beautiful zium
Bridge right with lights on it and all
kinds of stuff you see it on TV when
they when they do the Celtics games in
Boston you see uh networks out there and
they got the the the bridge is so
beautiful and even Fall Rivers got
lights on their bridge and everything
um but you bet you're going to take the
bridge we give you and you're going to
like
it
okay but seems that's changing according
to Mullan Mulligan um City officials
want to make sure that the new bridge is
not only fully functional but
aesthetically pleasing
damn straight I mean if we got to go 120
years before we got another new bridge
we want to make sure the one that we
have is uh is going to be pretty nice to
look at right I think
so asked the comment Mayor John Mitchell
said quote the Bedford Fen bridge is an
architectural landmark and it was
designed 120 years ago with a level of
thought and
care that respected future generations
of Greater New Bedford
residents although the bridge must now
be
replaced the new bridge likewise must
reflect a high level of
design we want the new bridge to be a
source of Pride for the Region's
residents and for visitors to look at
the bridge and recognize that gr New
Bedford is a region that takes pride in
itself today's residents along with
their children and grandchildren deserve
a bridge whose
design signals to everyone that our
region is an important
Place Mitchell added the images recently
shared by state officials reveal that
the Bridge's design still has a long way
to go recently I spoke to State
Transportation secretary Monica Tibbits
nut about the importance of the Bridge's
appearance I am grateful that she is
equally committed to building a bridge
whose design meets our Region's high
standards
get that in
writing for the standard time story New
bford Port Authority director Gordon
Carr was reported to have written a
letter in September to the US Coast
Guard
[Music]
um which had been reviewing the minimum
height and width clearances for
navigation below the bridge we re
recognize that the vertical lift type
Bridge height presents aesthetic
challenges to this historic Port I look
forward to being part of the local
advisory committee to achieve a
maximally functional Bridge which also
minimizes adverse visual impacts on the
nearby historic and cultural
resources and this bridge I don't know
if you've seen the
[Music]
um the um prototype for it the
renderings but it's got two big towers
it's just like the one on the canal Two
Towers on either end
and I I don't know if that's going to
look good there I really
don't the vertical lift bridge will
clear the way for passing vessels by
raising the roadway straight up between
two 190t tall towers it will have two
elevation settings one at 80 and one at
138 ft that will be triggered depending
on the height of the vessel that needs
to pass
underneath car had asked in his letter
that mass do consider raising the 138t
high limit as Maritime Commerce evolves
changes to vessels and other
infrastructures or infrastructure can be
expected he
said including the need for higher
clearances mot officials said during a
presentation last January on the
proposed vertical lift Bridges merits
that it will provide an unobstructed
260t wide
channel for vessels to
pass as opposed to the just under 100t
channels provided on each side of the
current Bridge when swung open bastard
officials also say the vertical lift
bridge will take less time to construct
meaning less disruption to vehicles and
vessels than other alternative Bridges
reviewed they are working on finalizing
the new Bridges design in 25%
installments with a goal of starting
construction in
2028 so it sounds to me like it's a like
it a lump it kind of situation you're
going to get a vertical lift bridge you
ain't getting a bridge yeah shut up how
dare
you how dare you speak
out I'm not sure a vertical lift bridge
fits there you know it's like that dumb
building the mayor wants to build and
the state wants to build down on the um
on the waterfront across from the the
the hotel next to
merils I mean who would drop a big
building there I mean it just doesn't
make sense not going to look
good it's going to take up important
space I mean it's like all these dumb
windmills down at the Windmill Parts
down on the waterfront where we could
have shops and stuff and it yeah I don't
know
[Music]
you know all of the um mail and voting
that folks did in
Massachusetts you got the first letter
in the mail asking you do you do would
you like us to send you a ballot and I
think there was a follow-up letter to
that right and then had to send back a
uh a prepaid postage paid envelope back
to them to tell them what you wanted and
and then they sent you the ballot and
all that kind of stuff you thought that
was free
right
yeah
no cost money cost a lot of money do you
how much it cost for the um mailin
voting postage the printing costs and
all that kind of stuff to do mail and
balloting cuz you're too too lazy to get
off your butt and go and vote in person
you know what it
cost how about $8
million what they CL here in
Massachusetts that mail and
balloting got to print the ballots right
they don't print
themselves got to mail them
out got to tabulate them count them all
this kind of
stuff State House news service say just
less than half of the roughly 3.5
million voters who cast the ballot in
November's
elections did so in person
half actually less than
half because you couldn't get in your
car and drive over or walk over to your
local polling place and
boat 3.5 million people
voted fewer than half did so in person
Secretary of State William galvin's
office in a new
report roughly $8 million costs
associated with a popular vote by mail
option do you know you'd be a lot
healthier in your life if you did walk
places and and do stuff like that
actually can out of your car walk
you know walk over to uh the Dunkin
Donuts counter or the Starbucks counter
instead of going through a drive-through
window I something amazed me how people
will sit in line
Forever at a Dunkin donus window rather
than just parking in the lot and walking
in you can be in and out of there less
than five minutes but you'll sit in your
car because you can play on your phone
or listen to music or or take selfies or
um FaceTime or whatever God forbid you
get out and one
same thing with the election now oh send
me my ballot so I can just sit at my
kitchen table and uh fill it out $8
million what the
hell could take care of a lot of seniors
with $8 million
right the report filed with the
legislature this month details many of
the costs connected to secretary
galvin's responsibilities as Chief
election officer for the
state and the requirements of the uh
2022
law that allows voters to cast their
ballots by mail or during a dedicated
early voting
window not counting the costs of
printing ballots and envelopes
assembling ballot kits and reimbursing
local elections
officials for unfunded mandates
Galvin said the vote by male effort
costs a little more than $8
million 8
million $
5,676 43 to be exact but who's going to
quibble over a few pennies
right including nearly $2 million in
postage for voters to return their
ballots for the September primaries and
the November general
election and that excludes the cost of
printing the ballot that's just that's
just the U the mailing out and the
postage and all that kind of
stuff there were
8419 40 total ballots cast in the
September primaries vote a turnout of
16.7%
galvin's office said
52,5 of those votes or 61.8% of them
were cast by male all 2898 or 3.4% were
placed in person during the early voting
period there were 2
192,25 votes or 34.8% cast in polling
places on September 3rd
that's
Salat popularity of a mill in voting
became more apparent during the November
general election with
3.5 million voters or 68%
68.3% submitted a ballot Just fewer than
half of those votes cast in the
elections 1.7 million or
48.8% were submitted in person at a
polling place in November 5th according
to galvin's
[Music]
office yeah if we were really serious
about saving money we could do away with
a lot of this crap right do you really
have to vote by
Bill postage was the largest expense
category
with $
1.9 million being charged against the um
352 separate United States Postal
Service business reply mail accounts
maintained by the elections
division woo
it's a lot of money I mean I I don't
know about you but I I still think that
$8 million is a lot of
money yeah speaking about elections I
mentioned in the uh might have been the
last segment or or I think it was just
before the the 2:00 news about how the
campaign for 2028 is already underway do
not kid yourself it is and you're going
to start to see a lot of people out
there that you haven't seen before or
that you haven't seen a lot of you're
going to see a lot more of them because
they're making their move now there's a
lot of
Democrats I think there will be a lot of
Republicans as well at least you know
handful of Republicans because it will
be an open seat and not everybody is
just going to accept the fact that JD
Vance is the air app parent in 28 so
you're Li to see you know a bunch of U
Republicans get in the race you can see
Marco Rubio in there again and uh you
know a lot of the other Republicans that
we've
uh Josh Holly and a lot of these other
guys but JD Vance will probably win the
nomination based on what we know today
but on the Democrat side it's wide open
too and it's a
rebuilding period the Democrats are
looking to rebuild now a lot of um what
happens in 2028 depends upon what
happens in
uh in 2026 the
midterms so if the Democrats continue to
take a
shellacking um you liable to see more
moderate Democrat candidates emerge for
the presidential
nomination but if the Democrats pick up
some seats and you know maybe uh more
people move back toward the left a
little bit God knows what you're going
to see out there but some of the best
guessing at this
point
um and I know you probably don't want to
think about the next election cycle but
it's begun it began before the before
the November
[Music]
election the 2028 election had
begun k
already out there on the trail speaking
December
17th already out
there Gavin Nome governor of California
already out there he's been out there

Cuban Governor Roy Cooper of North

least Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz can
you imagine Tim Waltz running for
president oh my
God and those are just some of the names
that are being kicked around as the
campaign of
2028 begins 508 996 0500 Europe next on
wbsm good afternoon
Hey Barry how you doing pretty good how
you doing not bad um you know I think
it's a Democrats have a clean up on
aisle six that's going to last for a
long time y um and I know that the um
presidential election is you know 20128
it's uh it's you know they're going to
form up two years from now Etc but
there's a lot of work they have to do
because um each one of those candidates
you listed has has have their own uh
they're backed in their own corner with
their own ideals and um uh and a lot of
that is distasteful and that's what what
part of this election was about was you
know making America go in the right
direction but also rejecting some of
these liberal Concepts that on on face
value don't work or they've they've you
know whether it has to do with kids or
it has to do with education or whether
it has to do with um you know resources
natural resources um uh uh energy policy
uh new green deal I mean all of it was
just um came to a head because Biden
wasn't in control of it the way like if
Obama was in place of Biden the whole
time in this last four years um Trump
might not have won because you know
Obama's uh you know cck on his feet and
managing all these uh you know issues
all at the same time he probably could
do but Biden was you know he was done
from day one so um I I think it was U
more error apparent that where we were
going was drastically wrong yeah so
suppose though over the next now you
know um you said that I clean up on
aisle six and they've got a long way to
go it's doable I mean look at two year
two terms of Richard Nixon followed by a
term of Gerald Ford right um Jimmy
Carter came in from nowhere Mr nobody
comes in wins four years later Ronald
Reagan right so anything can happen if
Trump has a disaster four years um we
could see a shift right back to the left
again now if Trump comes in and all of a
sudden we drill baby drill and fracking
gas prices are back to
a128 and um you know food prices are
down and whatever then the Liberals are
cooked and then they got to come up with
some kind of a moderate candidate uh
maybe even moderate um you know to to
the right of Center slightly candidate
in order to face JD Vance or or
whoever's going to be the nominee so I
mean it's going to be interesting to see
and a lot is going to be told I think
within the first 100 Year 100 years 100
days of this Administration if they have
a productive first 100 days and they
really start to make some change and
start to move the country in the
direction that they want to and the
people respond to that it could be a big
year for the Republicans in 2026 if they
don't and you have the freedom caucus
and the you know and the the rest of the
Republicans all fighting each other and
doing the circular firing squad then
could be disastrous for the Republicans
and the AOC crowd wins it's going to be
interesting no I yeah I I I agree with
that I mean it's a it's a there's kind
of two phases in my head as one is Trump
has to come through with his promises
and you know needs to deport and you
know work on the energy and and work on
the prosperity of America but on the
other side is uh you know Democrats um
they don't get a free pass what even if
Trump doesn't do as well because uh what
what didn't work was what we all voted
Ved against and and if they go back to
what didn't work that doesn't make any
sense either I mean so like you said
you're going to have to have some
Democrats are going to have to uh oh
think about it this way Barry how many
uh how many prominent Democrats said the
party left me and so I'm now an
independent or a republican a lot I mean
RFK tulsey gabard uh I can get on the
list um you know and they they basically
said you're you're ruining America and I
don't I'm not we're not standing with
that uh so I I think the rats have a
long way to go um even if Trump doesn't
do as well as as expected they still
have a long way to go because their
policies are way too far you know well
they they need to ditch every person
that I just read on that list because
they're all toxic every one of those
people in part of the past they're all
toxic they need to have somebody new or
some people new come in that are more
moderate and um more Centrist and can
really pose a challenge to the conser
atives in 2028 because I don't think any
of those people that that are on that
list um that that's all yesterday's news
H you know that's like tell me tell me
who the leader is who's the leader of
the Democrat who's in charge of the DNC
uh who who's going to be the one that
goes out and tries to get $2 billion in
uh funding that's not going to be very
easy yeah so anyway absolutely thank you
my friend got to hold you 50899 60500
you're next to wbsm good afternoon yeah
good afternoon Barry hi and Happy New
Year happy New Year uh my main my main
uh what I'm concerned most about as far
as elections go is this coming Friday
we've got to elect the new speaker of
the house yeah and I know Trump gave uh
Mike Johnson his wholehearted
endorsement this morning which I think
is positive but it's still uh it's still
concerning I don't want to see a food
fight like we saw last year with Matt
Gates and uh Kevin McCarthy yeah I
really don't want to see that all over
again and they can't even certify Donald
Trump until there's a new speaker of the
house yeah so that that's my number one
concern right now yeah well I mean a lot
is going to be known by the end of this
week you know is this a party that can
work together or is it a party that's
going to self-destruct and you know we
saw that happen during Trump's first um
uh uh you know Administration when yeah
when he walked in you got John McCain
voting against him and you got Mitt
Romney you got all these people that you
know and and um you know he walks in
he's got the he's got the house and the
Senate he says okay give me the give me
the repeal and replace so here and
they're
like you know we didn't expect to have
to do anything so if you get that kind
of Republican reception this week then
all bets are off then we're going to
have to govern by executive order it
looks like Barry is critical the Trump
Administration Hit the Floor running on
day
one and I I just think we I need we need
Unity I mean Mike Johnson never actually
wanted this job but I think he's done a
decent job with it and he's definitely a
conservative he may not be high hard
right but he's a conservative well when
you know the problem is this um when
you've got a fractured party your own
party it's very difficult to lead it's
not like the you know the Democrats who
pull everybody in together they may have
to take them in the back room and
slap a couple of people but they get
everybody on the same line um the
Republicans don't do that they all go
off in their own Direction and is often
times uh the problem is they cannot get
a unified uh party corre correct yeah so
I mean that's what we got look for this
week can Trump and and the you know the
various whips uh whip everybody into um
into position and into agreement this
week and the Democrats are going to hold
the line they're not going to give them
one vote they're just going to hold the
line because Jeff is you know Jeff is
going to whip them B yeah absolutely
thank you my friend got hold you
appreciate it good call 50899 60500 you
have very important week ahead of us
here very important week I'm going to
get the last break and we're coming
right back after this state the
in the
stars without
it life is wasted
time look inside your heart I look
inside
my things so
everywhere in this world
was we won we try to
see falling behind we what the be
all right welcome back to the program
and it is time to head into the news
room still kind of foggy out there and
cloudy was expecting to see some
sunshine by this point this
afternoon um you know you get a nice
warm day like this and you always get
the Sun comes out just in time to set
right it was kind of like that yesterday
it's beautiful sunset but it happened
you know it would have been nice to see
the Sun a little bit earlier yesterday
and took a nice walk around Buttonwood
Park yesterday it's kind of weird being
there after the the death of Ruth I
don't know why I said that but it just
was kind of weird the zoo was closed and
I guess it's going to be closed through
uh the third of the
month and um should have some kind of
a I don't know some kind of a service
for Ruth don't you think Emily passed
away too right and uh I don't know and
some big changes at the zoo what would
you like to see go in that space that's
a pretty big footprint there and uh I
wonder what they're going to do with it
because they're not going to have any
more elephants now that uh the elephant
exhibit is gone s
