Are you obsessed with your mirrors? Follow my poor left-hand mirror as I blast through a few amazing secret foothill paths filled with incredible vistas. I crash through some bushes, honk at a deer, crash some more, see some people, wave to them, discuss super hero powers, and generally make a fool of myself... all while lamenting the waste of precious riding time to fix a mirror that never stood a chance anyway.
Thanks to K-Mac at incomptech.com for the African beats. --
Yeah, hopefully I don't sink into the... oh, crap.
Yeah, crap. Just messed up my mirror.
That's the worst.
Mirrors.
Look at this. Bing!
If you were a superhero, who would you be?
I'd be Magneto, because then I could stick all my tools to myself.
Oh, that's a big log.
That I would not like to run into.
A big log, a big log.
Don't run into the big log.
Why did I just straighten my mirror? That was totally pointless, because it's just gonna get jacked.
Oh, geez. Look at this goodness.
Don't take my head off. No trespassing. That's exactly what I intend to do.
That one went right to my head.
So you might ask,
why are you going through there?
It seems like a pretty crappy path.
Well, I'm coming through here because
there is a road
just to my left that I want to get on.
I know a real man would be doing this at like 60 miles an hour.
Oh, a hill.
Oh, what's this?
Ah, crap. Thought I could get through to the left.
Nope.
This is a cool road, wherever it goes.
Oh, if I don't wreck hard.
It's like my destiny that I'll crash.
Holy frick.
So, you off-road riders who are good at this stuff, do you get in the rut?
I'm thinking probably yes.
You probably do get in the rut.
And then
you go where you're gonna go.
Well, this is cool. This is a cool place. Holy crap.
Awesome.
Man, beautiful. I've got spiderwebs hanging off my helmet.
Glistening in the sunlight like justice.
Wonder what's down there.
Besides a super freaking steep hill.
Cool.
Spider in my face.
Get a spider in your face if you ride too fast.
I have no idea where I'm going.
And yet,
apparently I'm just going.
Maybe I'll see some cool wildlife.
Wildlife!
Man, there's paths all over here.
Geek it into first gear before they steepen us.
I hope you don't mind my ultra-heavy breathing.
And hopefully it's not making you feel funny.
Oh, hey, a deer. Check it out, a deer. Oh my gosh.
Look at that guy.
Hey, deer.
The heart of the deer.
Saying, hey, deer.
Hoping
futilely that the deer would stop and let me get close so you guys could see it on my
ridiculously wide-angled camera.
The ATC 9K.
That is kind of like a GoPro, but not as good because the audio is too crappy.
Back in civilization.
How cool is that?
Hello, friendly people.
This is cool. Man, the house is up here dynamite, but I don't really want to be on the road.
That's a big ditch.
I have to be on the dirt and hopefully not crash my face.
Happy people?
That says dead-end, but as we know, that is no dead-end.
In a world where everything looks like a dead-end, one man on a KLR650
does lame voiceovers and can't shift into first.
That's a dirty rattle because I haven't changed my oil in like 4,000 miles,
which I'm going to get yelled at by the KLR purists.
Oh yeah, this is lots of fun going up a hill.
Hopefully, I'll run into that deer again, but not literally, figuratively.
Oh, I love it when they get a little loose in the back end.
Oh, that didn't sound good.
This is a really cool path. What goes this way?
In a world where my legs are too stumpy
to turn around on a tall motorcycle.
This seems a little bit sketchy.
Oh, jeez.
I don't know about this right now.
Oh, and me, how sometimes
the roads, oh frick,
the roads are like far worse than
what's at the side of the road, you know?
Hopefully, this doesn't just go right off a cliff. That would be crappy.
My breathing is probably really heavy.
All right, well, I'll go the easier way, obviously. A little jump here.
You know, that's probably the first air that I've ever actually gotten on my KLR.
Oh, jeez.
All that for just a little ditty.
So, of my friends who have subscribed to my videos and who are watching this,
this is probably,
I hope the footage is good enough where you're like, hmm, YouTube is not good enough.
It is not satisfactory enough just to watch.
I must participate.
Once again, my mirror's all wonky.
Adjusting it was pointless, like I thought.
I wonder what's down there.
Uh-oh, I'm not shifting.
Maybe that's because of the oil change issue. I really am gonna change my oil tonight. I promise.
I guess nothing, except for a cool view.
Okay. Oh, thank goodness.
My little pony
kept it up.
All right, so.
All right, so here's this crazy crap right here, and I probably want to be in the rut like you
professionals do. Oh, shoot.
Almost bumped me off there.
That's not that bad, actually.
It's nice to be justified in just talking crap. Hey, there's some people.
Hello, people.
Hello.
Am I gonna get, like,
killed by some kind of crazy booby trap if I come down here by this guy's cabin? Nope, no booby traps.
Neutral.
All right, so once again, I'll have to traverse the rutty path.
You know what's cool about a dual sport bike?
I came here on the freeway.
Oh, that is really, really steep.
Oh, frick.
And, oopsie-daisy.
Probably need that.
There we go.
Got stuck on the side.
Hey, I guess that's why you want to use the, oh, come on.
I don't know why this happens sometimes.
Probably because I'm in gear.
You know how you always get a little bit frazzled
when you wreck,
and you don't quite know what you're doing?
I don't wreck nearly as often enough because I'm so awesome.
You tell that's false with one look at my bright yellow riding vest.
And my awesome turning radius.
Oh, I am a sweaty beast.
I need some kind of
alternative riding gear
to a armored coat.
Because that is some serious
sweatiness going on.
Hey, my mirror's back.
Okay.
That'd be terrible to crash into a bush.
Oh, geez, that's thick and I can't see. Oh, good thing. Head down.
Head down again.
Whoa.
Ah, my mirror, it's fixed again. Oh, crap. That was close.
Oh, that was a log that I just ran my foot into. Didn't see it coming.
Oh, man, I love this motorcycle.
Ah.
