Hey guys, welcome back to my channel and welcome to my fall clean and decorate with me for 2020.
This is part one. We are going to be decorating my mantel, my shelves, and my console table in
my living room. Plus, I have a beautiful stovetop potpourri to share and a delicious
apple kale quinoa salad that is perfect for fall. Right before we get into this video,
I wanted to let you know that it is in collaboration with my friend Lauren here on YouTube.
She shares lots of lifestyle cleaning motivation over on her channel and today
she will be sharing her fall clean and decorate with me too. I will have her channel and her
video linked down below. Definitely go by and say hello and let her know that I sent you.
And if you're new from Lauren's channel, welcome. My name is Elizabeth. I share lots of lifestyle,
motherhood, and homemaking motivation here on my channel and I would love if you subscribed
and joined our community here on YouTube. Let's get into the video. Starting with the
stovetop potpourri, this made my house smell amazing and was the perfect setting to decorate
for fall. For this stovetop potpourri, you're just going to take two cups of water, three
cinnamon sticks, a tablespoon of clove, a tablespoon of vanilla, one whole orange peel,
and an apple and you're just going to simmer it on low and add water slowly throughout the day
and it honestly creates the most beautiful aroma that is perfect for fall.
On to decorating and I always like to start with my mantle because I feel like that is the focus
of the room so I want to just know the colors and the feel that I'm going with before I start
decorating the shelves and the console table in this room. So I'm just giving it a really good
wipe using my favorite cloths and a little bit of Miss Meyers in the honeysuckle scent.
I'm starting with a base of greenery and I'm using these three
picks that I picked up at Ikea. They're just beautiful eucalyptus. I'm actually going to go
back and get some more from my dining table because I loved the way that it turned out
but I'm just laying these down and then I'm going to go in with these candlesticks that I picked up
at the thrift store for $3.99 just to help anchor both sides and whenever I'm decorating
I just I like to keep things really even on both sides and have those anchored pieces
and you'll see me kind of go through and make sure that I'm doing that. Now I just added those
amber bottles that I picked up on Amazon and then I'm putting these beautiful wildflowers
that I actually found at the thrift store. I got a pick of a bunch of them for $3.99
so I'm just adding those in on both sides.
And I wanted to create some height in the back so I used these also thrifted candlesticks. They're
like a beautiful bronze color and I just layered it on top of a little box that I actually picked
up at the Dollar Tree and just to give more height and then I put pumpkins on and you'll see I
couldn't decide if I wanted to do the terracotta pumpkins or those beautiful like orangey copper
color so I ended up going with the orange ones but let me know. I show you kind of both sides
so let me know which one you like better. I just really liked the copper color and then I love me
some fairy lights so I'm just going in and adding these beautiful copper wired fairy lights just on
the middle portion to create a beautiful glow and these are from the Dollar Tree. They also come in
silver. I highly recommend them and they are perfect for fall and then going into Christmas
as well and then I'm just adding all of the pumpkins. I will have a full fall playlist down
below for you guys with some of these DIYs but there I was just showing you the difference between
the terracotta and the burnt orange.
Here it is all done. I absolutely love the way this turned out. I find it very whimsical and
natural and perfect for fall.
Moving on to the shelving in my living room, I'm now going to completely transform
this space for fall.
So true story, this actually took really long to do and I had to walk away and come back and I highly
recommend that if you get overwhelmed just sometimes take a break and I came back strong.
So I started with this vase in the center. I love it. I thrifted the vase and the flowers are from
Dollarama. They're like dried eucalyptus. Beautiful and then whenever I'm decorating I
like to do groups of three and kind of like colors on each shelf. So my color palette was white,
black, that sea glass like green color and then the um like the dried like what would you call
that like a burnt orangey color and then a little bit of terracotta. So I just kind of played on
each shelf and just made sure that I duplicated it and it I think it flows really nicely.
And here is how it turned out. I absolutely love it. I think it's honestly the nicest that these
shelves have ever been styled and I'm so happy with them. I love all of the pieces and just how
they flow with the rest of the room and perfect for fall.
Moving on to this little console table and this is actually a DIY.
Like I said I'll have a full playlist down below of like things I've done for fall
and I'm just creating a little centerpiece using that wood box. I picked that up at Dollar Tree
just to bring in some of the more lighter woods and I'm just giving everything a good wipe down.
I love this photo of my kids and I'm just going to layer all these pieces, add all the pumpkins
and I'm really really happy with how this turned out too. I used some amber glass with
some pompous grass just to again bring in more of that whimsical look and I'm so happy
with this little area too.
Moving on to the couch area and I'm giving it a really good wipe down. I get a lot of questions
about my couches and they're from a Canadian store called Structube but you can find similar
ones on an online store called Article. So I'm just giving it a good wipe. That's why I love
these couches because I can keep them clean really easily with three kids and two dogs.
It gets pretty messy in here.
I found these pillow covers on Amazon and I absolutely love them. They have all of my colors
in them. The sea glass green and the rust and the creams and whites. They're so perfect
and I'm just going to create a cozy space using them and this beautiful throw blanket I found
at Winners and I might go to Ikea and pick up a couple more pillows but I will share everything
in my fall home tour once I have the entire house decorated.
Moving on to the coffee table I like to keep this pretty minimal because like I said I have three
kids so I don't want a lot on here but I'm just layering some different pieces. I love this cloche
I picked it up at the thrift store and I'm gonna add a candle and you'll see I actually switch out
the tray for this beautiful piece of wood that I found on the side of the road last Christmas and
I think it adds to that woodsy, whimsical, natural vibe that I'm going for this fall.
And here it is. I love how it turned out. I'm so excited for cozy fall evenings with my family
curled up on the couch. Moving on to the kale salad I highly recommend this. It was delicious.
All you're going to do is take a bunch of kale and massage it with some olive oil just to soften
the leaves then add about three cups of cooked quinoa with some apple. I used two red apples
and then also some onion. I used about a quarter of a red onion and then to make the dressing
you're going to use a quarter cup of olive oil, some salt, two tablespoons of honey,
a tablespoon of Dijon mustard, and a full lemon squeezed. I like to put it in a mason jar because
I think it helps just emulsify all of the dressings and then pour it on. I also added some
pecans and this was delicious and I highly recommend it. It would be great with some
grilled chicken or I liked it just on its own. So good. I'll have the recipe linked down below for
you guys and that is it. My fall clean and decorate with me part one. I hope you guys enjoyed this
video. I hope you got some inspiration or ideas on how to decorate for fall. I would love to know
down below what your favorite space was that I decorated today. Let me know and I'm so excited
