Ebenezer Scrooge is a greedy, cold-hearted man who despises Christmas and lives a solitary, miserly life. On Christmas Eve, as he prepares to spend the night alone, he is visited by the ghost of his late business partner, Jacob Marley. Marley, doomed to wander the earth in chains as punishment for his selfish life, warns Scrooge that he faces the same fate unless he changes. Marley foretells the arrival of three spirits who will offer Scrooge a chance at redemption.
