Hey everyone it's Carol here. If you're new to my channel welcome.
Today I'm going to show you how to make a wire wrapped loop. If you like this video please
subscribe to my channel and ring the bell so that you'll be notified every time I upload a new video.
Also check out the making a simple loop if you haven't already because that is kind of a
precursor for this one. To make a wire wrapped loop you'll need some tools and obviously some
What I have here is some flush cutters, some round nose pliers and some chain nose pliers.
Now if you don't know what these tools do then check out my tools for jewelry making video.
I'll leave the link in the description below. I've also got some materials here, some supplies.
I've got some 26 gauge wire. I've got some 20 gauge wire. So both of these are German style
half hard wire. I've got a little piece of chain because I'm going to attach my bead here to the
chain with the wire and I've got a larger bead so I can just show you how to make it all work.
Now sometimes I also use a second pair of pliers when I'm using when I'm wire wrapping just because
it makes my life easier. I find that I'm not that strong. My hands aren't that strong so
sometimes using a second pair of pliers helps. So let's get started. What I've got here is a
piece of wire and I've already put a loop in one end. If you don't know how to do that go and watch
the video on making simple loops. You could also use an eye pin or even a head pin for this it
doesn't matter. So I've added my bead on and I'm going to make a wire wrapped loop at the top.
So I'm going to take my pliers
and just lining them up quite close to the top of the bead
I'm going to just bend the wire to a 90 degree angle.
The reason I'm doing that is so that I've got some space here to accommodate the wrapping.
Next I'm going to take my round nose pliers and I'm going to pop the wire into the jaws
and this time it's facing up towards me so that excess piece here is sticking up.
Remember to position it on the pliers according to the size loop that you wish.
Okay so my pliers are nicely tucked into that corner there where the bend is.
Next I'm going to take the wire and I'm just going to push it around
the pliers and right down the back.
Now I'm going to take the pliers out reposition on the lower jaw and I'm going to bring that
wire up towards me so that it's crossed over and I'm going to remove my pliers.
Now if I was adding this to a component and to maybe a chain or you know a jump ring or
something like that this is this would be the time that I would put this on but I'm going to
show you that a bit later. Right here right now we're just going to close this loop and
wrap it. So I'm going to take my pliers my chain nose pliers and I'm just going to hold that wrap
sorry that loop firmly. Now I do this with another pair of pliers because my hands aren't very strong
but you could do it with your fingers if you wanted to. With my bent nose pliers I'm going
to take the end of the wire and I'm just going to bring it around pulling it really tightly as I go
around and around
until I filled that space.
It does destroy the wire but that's okay I'm going to cut it off anyway.
I think one more. Usually you do two or three wraps I left a bit of space so I can
do four. Next I'm going to take my cutters and with the with the flush side I'm going to get
right in there and cut off that excess wire as close as I can. Remember to hold the end of the
wire. Now I'm not sure if you can see that but the end there is poking out so I'm going to take my
chain nose pliers just give a squeeze so the end is nicely tucked in
and while I'm here I'll just straighten it up. Now I really like messy loops this one's quite neat
I did it because you were watching but there's my component and you could add this to a necklace or
make it into an earring or whatever you wanted to. Next we're going to make a little charm using a
piece of 26 gauge wire and wire wrapping and we're going to attach it to a piece of chain so we're
going to add the speed to it. First though I need to make a loop at the bottom and I'm going to do
it a little differently this time. I'm going to at right at the end of my pliers I'm going to just
give a twist reposition give a twist reposition and just keep going until I've got a couple of
little wraps.
Now I'm going to take my chain nose pliers and I'm just going to
bend that up and kind of center it on center the wire coming up
like that
now I'm just going to add my bead
so I just did that as something different to rather than just having a loop at the bottom
or a head pin. All right now to make my loop I'm going to take my pliers and I'm going to put them
right at the end and right hard up against the bead and the reason I'm doing this is because I
don't want very much space so if I wanted a big amount of space in wrapping I would put them up
there but right now I actually want it to be quite close so I'm going to just bend the wire away from
me just push it down so that's at a right angle. Next I'm going to take my round nose pliers and
I'm going to pop them on the wire and I'm going to line them up really close to that right angle
now I'm going to wrap the wire right around so that it's right down underneath the pliers
next I'm going to take the pliers out reposition on the bottom jaw
and then just bring the wire up so that's crossed over
now I'm going to add it to my chain because I need to do it before I do my wire wrapping
otherwise I won't be able to do that so I'm going to take my chain and thread it through
thread the wire through the loop of my chain and what I need to do is actually get it through
this little piece here where the wires cross which can be a little bit tricky but that one
went through nice and easily. Now I'm going to take my chain nose pliers and just like I did
before hold that loop and I'm going to take my wire and this time I'm just using my fingers
because 26 wire is much easier to move and to bend than 20 gauge and I'm just going to wrap it
just going to wrap it around and around and this time I want it to be messy because I like
messy loops so I'm actually going over a couple of times
and I actually really like it to come down onto the bead a little bit too
so you can see now I've got a pretty messy loop but I'm okay with that I like that
so now I'm going to trim off my excess wire with my flush cutters
just making sure I hold the end of the wire
and even though it's messy I do still need to make sure that I
poke in that end because the last thing we need is it getting caught on your clothes
so just with the tip there and there you have a messy wrapped charm
that you could add to maybe a charm bracelet you know maybe a bracelet or
a pair of earrings you could add this would look quite cool added to an ear wire as a pair of
earrings you could add it to a necklace all sorts of things so there you go now you've now you know
how to wire wrap and in either a messy way and attach it to something or in a much neater way
I hope you've enjoyed this video and you think you can make use of this technique
if you have please subscribe I look forward to seeing you again soon thanks for watching
