Superman | Official Teaser Trailer (My Thoughts)

Hi, I just woke up. I think I saw bed lines on my face. Can you see?
So we have ourselves a Superman trailer. It's a teaser trailer.
Yesterday we had the teaser to the teaser and now we have the real teaser.
Feels like it's been a while since I've talked about a trailer, but it is a Superman movie.
It's just different. Anyhow, without further ado, let's talk about the Superman teaser trailer because at the beginning, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's a
Falling rock. Superman apparently got his balls kicked in. He's spitting up blood. First time he's ever seen that happen, I'm sure.
Even a Hollywood suit with all that built-in armor couldn't help him, or maybe it did help him.
Maybe it's the only reason he's alive. He whistles for help, and at first I was like, oh, is Supergirl, is she in this movie?
No.
Better. Crypto, baby. Crypto in the North Pole. The only crypto winter you can actually like. Superman living alone with his dog.
He's basically become like the Grinch. Or the rest of us men. So the trailer music kicks on.
It's basically a rendition of the John Williams theme, but
Modernized? Some way to show, yes, we're recognizing the past while being made for a new generation.
Lex Luthor looking like a Bond villain, which Nicholas Holt lately is one of those dudes where I'm like, he's a really good actor.
Nosferatu's not out yet. He's pretty great in it.
We see a glimpse of some other super folks in this movie, and although at this point on screen
we've seen Superman roll with other super folks, Justice League,
there was still the standalone movie and then this slow trickle in which other super people started to reveal themselves,
so it started with Superman and went out from there, so we see why Superman's still Superman to them.
But in this world that looks like a bunch of super people have been around for a while,
it's really normalized and we're coming into the middle of this. I'm interested to see what makes this Superman Superman to them.
What makes him the guy to blame to the point of throwing a beer can at his head when things go bad?
Is that a beer can? I don't know. I didn't frame by frame it. I just did. It's not a beer can.
I mean, he has to compete against Guy Gardner with that haircut. Interested to see how these pieces work together.
We're not just dealing with Superman versus Lex Luthor here.
We got Lex Luthor, an oversized ghost from Destiny. Pretty sure I saw a dragon in here somewhere. Feel free.
You know what? Pick up that keyboard. Feel free to be like, um, it's not a dragon. Go for it.
That's what this is for. With that big orb in the background, can we talk about that for a second?
Is that thing really a threat? It looks pretty threatening,
but in that one picture the memes were the greatest where he's just putting on his boots like,
okay, I guess I'll get to work after I just smashed Lois Lane. Seems like a mild inconvenience.
She looks pretty freaked out at first, I suppose, but then Superman's like, hey, we need to talk.
They're just kind of talking while this thing is, what, doing its thing? Is he holding a coffee mug?
No, that thing can't be brainiac like we thought it was. It can't be a threat.
If that thing is a threat and it's killing and or endangering people and he's just sitting around like, look Lois,
we need to talk about where we stand.
Dude is justified in throwing a can of pears or whatever at his head. Say that about him as Clark Kent
versus Kal-El versus Superman. They do feel different. Haven't seen the movie yet, but just from the pictures and the trailer,
you know, he's got the front perm.
I would not think that guy was Superman if I passed him on the street. It is more than just a look.
He has to have a persona, a way about him that does fulfill that in which people will be like, yeah, Superman suspects.
Definitely not Clark Kent. Christopher Reeve did it amazingly. We'll see how he does it, but from the trailer, from what I've seen,
they're on the right track here. Does Clark Kent kiss Lois? Lois has to find out who he is in this movie.
I'd like to see them carry on the mystery to more movies,
but they're kissing and I'm pretty sure she's kissing who she knows as Clark Kent, which, you know, Superman's the one who gets the girl,
traditionally, or maybe she thinks she's kissing Superman who's wearing Clark Kent's clothes. Just a coincidence.
But yeah, in the end, this is a solid teaser trailer.
It's a trailer that knows it's dealing with a Superman movie, shows the elements where this is gonna be different than other Superman movies,
but also the elements that you might want to see, you know, a glimpse or two of Lex Luthor, the contrast between Clark Kent and
Superman, a couple threats, some other super folks out there, Guy Gardner's haircut, some absolute Superman
iconography of him saving a little girl, and trailer music paying homage to that John Williams score.
All right, so the new Superman teaser trailer, formerly Superman Legacy, now Superman. Have you seen it?
