Is it possible to escape your destiny¿ - The Curious Legend of the Ring of Polycrates

Polycrates, the tyrant of Samos, was renowned for his extraordinary luck. Advised to rid himself of his most prized possession to avoid the envy of the gods, he cast a valuable ring into the sea as an offering. Days later, a fisherman presented him with a fish: inside its belly was the ring. The rejection of his offering was followed by a dramatic reversal of Polycrates' fortune.
