as Starship launches become increasingly
familiar to space enthusiasts our
curiosity extends beyond the Rocket's
impressive upgrades to the mysteries of
its interior what does the space behind
its exterior look like how do SpaceX
workers operate within Starship these
are scenes we've never glimpsed before
however recently Elon Musk has unveiled
the mystery details offering us a closer
more intimate look at Starship the
rocket destined to dominate the future
of space exploration now let's dive in
to today's episode of alphatech as the
launch of Starship flight 7 approaches
and SpaceX ramps up preparations Elon
Musk has unexpectedly released
fascinating images providing a rare
glimpse into the interior of the
Starship spacecraft Starship is gigantic
musk tweeted accompanied by captivating
photos in the first image we get a clear
view of a section of the starship's
Interior it's an expansive cylindrical
space constructed from smooth reflective
stainless steel plates these
meticulously welded segments form a
seamless and robust structure critical
for withstanding the immense forces of
space travel inside triangular support
brackets are arranged along the walls
likely serving to maintain the Tank's
structural integrity under extreme
pressure these brackets may also provide
mounting points for sensors piping or
additional hardware and they could
support human intervention ion for
maintenance or repairs inside the rocket
the immense size of the chamber becomes
evident when compared to the workers
inside undercovering the sheer scale of
Starship two workers can be seen
suspended within the structure harnessed
and secured by safety lines as they
carry out their tasks their position
next to a large vertical pipe highlights
the interior the pipe they appear to be
inspecting or installing may be part of
starship's intricate fueling system in
the second photo the perspective shifts
downward at the center of the image a
large cryogenic pipe extends vertically
connecting to a complex cluster of
valves and components at its base can
you guess which part of the Starship
this might be feel free to share your
thoughts in the comments below don't
forget to like and share the video if
you find it really interesting from my
perspective this appears to offer a
closer look at the fuel system
referenced in the first image the
component cluster at the base could be a
distribution manifold ensuring even in
controlled fuel deliver to the engines
the large vertical pipe running along
the Rocket's wall is likely a fuel
conduit directing propellant to the
engines during flight in this photo two
workers are once again focused on their
respective tasks notably one worker
appears to be adjusting a sensor inside
Starship this could play a critical role
in managing fuel flow and maintaining
stability during starship's Dynamic
flight phases such as launch and
re-entry these images provide a small
and intrigued ining look into the inner
workings of starship's fuel tanks
clearly postflight upgrades are not
limited to external changes SpaceX also
enhances internal hardware and systems
which are rarely seen by the public
speaking of upgrades SpaceX enthusiasts
won't want to miss the upcoming Starship
flight 7 marking the first flight of
spacex's upgraded Starship this launch
will showcase the company's ability to
rapidly develop new prototypes
demonstrating its cuttingedge
advancements in Technology and
Engineering ing let's look at the
redesigned forward flaps a defining
feature of V2 compared to V1 after the
flap damage observed in Flight 4 SpaceX
outlined several changes including
smaller sharper flaps The Joint
connecting the flap to the ship has been
streamlined and the forward flap will be
positioned closer to the nose and leward
side of the ship these changes aim to
enhance flap control during navigation
and reduce stress and impact during
re-entry images of s33 the first version
of V2 reveal a slightly larger ship body
with its payload door position higher
indicating an increase in fuel tank
capacity this expansion is crucial for
starship's operational range allowing it
to carry more fuel to return to Star
base support orbital refueling
operations and eventually Venture beyond
Earth orbit finally significant upgrades
to the heat shut will also be featured
following flight four SpaceX introduced
a series of heat shield improvements
starting with ship 30 this includes new
more durable tiles potentially made of
an enhanced material that'll increase
resilience and move closer to full
reusability given the thousands of tiles
needed per flight reusability is
essential for lowering production
demands Additionally the heat shield is
backed by secondary protective layers
known as ablative layers which provide
added durability and comprehensive
protection for the ship with all these
upgrades Starship V2 represents a major
leap forward toward full reusability and
extended admission capabilities these
upgrades are pivotal with SpaceX
highlighting their importance in the
recent update learnings from this and
subsequent flight tests will continue to
make the entire Starship system more
reliable as we close in on full and
Rapid reusability accompanying the
Starship V2 is the super heavy V2
although Starship flight 7 will feature
only the upgraded Starship V2 don't be
discouraged because the super heavy V2
is set to make its debut in an even more
impressive fashion next year during the
flight 6 launch date Elon emphasized
that the new booster version is better
and features Big improvements with every
successive version among these
enhancements is an increase in size as
the super heavy V2 will be taller than
its predecessor standing at 72 M this is
1.3 M taller than the current version
allowing for greater fuel capacity the
additional space will enable it to carry
up to 3650 tons of fuel a substantial
jump from the 3,300 tons held by by the
current model the increase in fuel
capacity is critical to supporting the
enhanced performance required for future
missions when paired with a taller ship
V2 the complete Starship system will
reach an astonishing height of
124.401 stop at physical dimensions the
propulsion system is also getting a big
upgrade super heavy V2 will be powered
by spacex's revolutionary Raptor 3s a
development that marks a Leap Forward in
rocket engine technology earlier this
year SpaceX introduced the Raptor 3
showcasing its black design and
simplified structure this design not
only reduces the potential for risks but
also makes the engine easier and faster
to refurbish a key factor in achieving
rapid reusability the Streamline
manufacturing process will allow SpaceX
to produce engines more efficiently
meeting the increasing demand for
Starship launches most notably Raptor 3
engines offer greater thrust each engine
is capable of producing 280 tons of
thrust a dramatic improvement over the
previous version with 33 Raptor 3s super
heavy V2 will deliver an incredible 9240
tons of thrust approximately 20.3
million pounds to put this into
perspective this level of power is 2.6
times greater than that of Saturn 5 the
rocket that once carried astronauts to
the Moon such extraordinary thrust
levels will enable Starship to carry out
even more ambitious missions including
those that involve going to distant
planets Elon has also hinted that this
is just the beginning SpaceX plans to
push the capabilities of the Raptor 3
engines even further with the goal of
achieving 300 tons of thrust per engine
if this target is met super heavy V2
could hit a mind-blowing 9900 tons of
LIF up off thrust while this Milestone
may take some time to achieve it
reflects the ambitious Vision that
SpaceX has for its Starship program
incremental advancements like these will
continue to propel the company towards
its ultimate goal of making space travel
more accessible and sustainable in
addition to the major upgrades to its
engine super heavy V2 will incorporate
several other refinements to enhance its
performance and reliability for instance
the grid fins on the booster will be
repositioned to a lower point this
adjustment is expected to improve
stability and controled during flight
addressing issues identified in previous
launches furthermore the hot staging
system will undergo a redesign with the
addition of a longer ring and larger
vents these changes will simplify the
system's design while improving its
efficiency during stage separation the
new hot staging ring is also expected to
be reusable aligning with spacex's
commitment to reducing costs and
minimizing waste to support these
upgrades SpaceX is also making
improvements to its infrastructure
reports suggest that the new launch
Tower while maintaining the same number
of segments will be slightly taller to
accommodate the increased height of
Starship V2 this upgrade will ensure
that the launch infrastructure is fully
compatible with the enhanced booster and
spacecraft the tower is expected to be
completed by January of next year
aligning with the anticipated launch
schedule according to the positive
momentum for SpaceX and Elon Musk the
upcoming dominance of the Trump admin
signals a period where obstacles
hindering spacex's progress may be
swiftly swept aside Elon has long
criticized the federal government but
his frustration is especially focused on
the FAA which regulates SpaceX one of
his key companies with Trump set to
return to the White House FAA
administrator Mike Whitaker recently
announced he'll be stepping down January
20th despite having years left in his
term Whitaker's decision to resign May
benefit musk significantly many in the
space industry have harshly criticized
Whitaker's leadership describing him as
a disaster critics claim the FAA under
Whitaker's been biased retaliatory and
intentionally delayed launch approvals
for companies that disagreed with its
policies for example Whitaker faced
Congressional scrutiny for allegedly
delaying spacex's Starship 5 launch
until after the election after getting
questioned by Congress Whitaker was
accused of lying though the FAA later
approved the launch miraculously critics
argue that he prioritized politics over
his duties Whitaker who started his
tenure in October of last year focused
much of his time on Boeing safety
controversies including investigation s
following the infamous Boeing door plug
failure during an Alaska Airlines flight
in January Elon has repeatedly accused
the FAA of unfair treatment towards
SpaceX while being lenient with Boeing
in September the FAA delayed a SpaceX
launch and F the company $633,000 for
regulatory violations previously the FAA
finds Starling spacex's satellite
internet subsidiary
$175,000 for failing to submit safety
data in 2022 would it defended the faa's
actions stating in a house hearing that
civil penalties were the only tool we
have to get compliance on safety matters
meanwhile musk complained on X that the
FAA was harassing SpaceX about nonsense
that doesn't affect safety while giving
a free pass to Boeing before adding a
call for resignations from FAA
leadership musk also complained that the
FAA was interfering with his grander
vision the fundamental problem is that
Humanity will forever be confined to
Earth unless there's radical reform at
the FAA musk even threatened to sue the
FAA for regulatory overreach alleging
the agency engaged in improper
politically motivated behavior however
no lawsuit was filed although Elon
hasn't commented publicly on Whitaker's
resignation he said to co-lead the
Department of government Efficiency do
alongside entrepreneur V ramas Swami
under Trump's incoming admin this
position could give Elon significant
influence over the faa's future although
it's not yet time for Trump to
officially take take office we are
already seeing the first shot
exemplified by efforts to streamline the
launch lights approval process on
December 13th the fa announced it would
accept flight safety analyses conducted
by federal launch ages in California
Florida and Virginia as part of
applications under launch licenses under
part 450 regulations previously launch
companies were required to conduct
separate analysis for the fa duplicating
work already performed for the federal
ranges they operate from industry
leaders had criticized this as redundant
and time consuming Kelvin Coleman FAA
associate admin for commercial space
transport called the decision of force
multiplier noting it reduces paperwork
for companies and speeds up the faa's
review process the issue of duplicate
safety analysis was highlighted in a
September Congressional hearing on FAA
regulatory challenges Mike French Vice
chair of the commercial space
Transportation advisory committee Comack
emphasized the burden of overlapping
reviews by the FAA and lach ranges com
stack had recommended that the FAA
accepts safety analysis already approved
by federal ranges a stance echoed by
David kavasa president of commercial
space Federation kavasa also urged the
FAA to accept NASA's safety analysis the
faa's decision applies to space force
space launch Delta 30 for launches at
vandenbberg space force base in
California space launch Delta 45 for
launches at Cape canaval space force
station and Kennedy Space Center in
Florida NASA's garded space flight
center for wops Flight Facility in
Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport Virginia
this announcement coincides with faa's
broader view of part 450 regulations
through a newly formed Community spark
stands for space rulemaking advisory
committee the committee began working in
December and will submit recommendations
next summer meanwhile some members of
Congress are urging the FAA to act
faster representativ Sam Graves and Rob
Whitman sent a letter December 6th to
the FAA admin Mich Whitaker urging him
to expedite the licensing process using
measures outside formal rulemaking
however with a resignation announcement
from administrator Whitaker it seems
that efforts to streamline the launch
license approval process will proceed
smoothly let's look forward to the
exciting advancements for Starship
specifically and the entire space
industry in general in the coming year
as the Trump Administration officially
takes office to lead the United States
and that's it for today's episode thanks
for joining us and see you next time
