Hi everyone. Oh Lordy. It is, what's the degrees right now hun?
Perth near code. 18 degrees outside right now and we're on our way
to Toledo, Ohio to camp for the weekend and we're really excited. It'll be our
first winter camp out in our camper. And we are talking winter. I mean it is
winter. Yes. Well not officially. Not officially winter. But it's cold enough. Yes. So we've got
all of our, we've got heaters, we've got extra blankets. So we'll see how warm we
stay. Can't wait to share the trip with you. So stay tuned.
Well we're almost at our first fuel stop. For the last hour we've been stuck in
traffic. And Tina's on the phone with our daughter and she's not feeling well.
But I finally see our exit, our fuel stop. And this fuel stop is going to consist
of potty breaks, doggie breaks, and I don't know, maybe grabbing some grub.
We won't be getting to our site until after dark. It'll be like a whopping 18
degrees when we get there. So, all right.
What a day. What a drive. What a day. So we're currently caught by a train. There it is. And I think, yeah, it's starting to move.
Well we got caught in what, an hour and a half, a pretty bad accident.
And it was right near our fuel stop. But we're almost there. I hear the engines
revving up on the train. Yeah, it's been a long day.
Next morning. What are you doing? Hanging at the grinchy lights. Look, look how cute they are.
Look at those faces.
Yeah, that looks pretty good. We'll see. People driving in. See that? Like, yay, good job.
The pups are over here, hanging out, doing the winter dog thing.
Eric and Jen, nice job on the Grinch.
We're here. Gotta make sure.
Moments later. These crazy YouTubers, they always got a camera out. Yes, and we're following you.
You're following me.
Scare somebody.
Hey. Is it scaring you? No.
Alright Tina, tell us what you got. Okay, we got Spice is Right. What is it? Spice is Right.
Holiday Spice. Spice Word.
Rhyme with. It says it's with cinnamon. Rhyme with orange.
Anniversary IPA.
Cinnamon. Snowing.
Snowing.
And camping.
And happy.
Hobby camper. That one's mine. The hobby camper's mine.
But this is the mystery room. Yes, the mystery room. Not sure where it is.
Two hours later.
Okay, so we are at the Spirit, the Spirit, uh, the Toledo Spirit House.
I can't remember the name of the place.
Anyway, pretty cool place. And they have a sticker board.
So we've been putting these stickers on a couple of the restaurants and the breweries we've been going to.
So, check out this. Check out this.
Here is the sticker wall here.
And I know the confers put theirs somewhere.
So I'm thinking about putting ours over theirs.
But I gotta find it.
Looking.
Looking for theirs.
He said he put it up high.
But as high as he could reach, he said.
Got our sticker.
And I'm gonna go as high as I can.
I'm gonna go right up there.
It's up there.
Alright.
Sleep well, good sticker.
So when I was a kid, I used to collect beer cans as a hobby.
And when we came here, check this place out.
They have tons and tons of old beer cans.
Well, many of them I recognize.
I still have a couple of them.
I think I still have the old Froth and Slosh beer cans.
And the Ertl's 92 cone top.
Which was always sought out as one to get.
I don't see any cone tops here.
So, maybe I'll donate it to them.
Alright.
Tina.
Hang on, let me get myself squared away here.
Alright.
We are at the Maumee.
Maumee?
We're at the Maumee State Park.
Right.
Or near around Toledo, Ohio.
Right.
And we are doing our first
Winter Camp.
And it's been a little bit of a
It's been challenging, but it's been successful.
Yes, very successful.
We had one small issue.
The kitchen lines
froze.
So the sink didn't work.
The kitchen sink didn't work.
It thawed out.
And it's all good now.
But we thought we'd just talk real quick
about our trip so far.
Or not.
Denver is doing his
Oh, buddy.
Sorry, hang on.
Yeah.
A little bit of a challenge, but
Denver's little short legs
get caught up in
his little grinchy outfit.
So hang on, buddy.
Hang on.
Alright.
Yeah, I did roll him up.
Come here.
Alright, there we go.
Alrighty.
Can you do that now?
Can we make that work?
Alright.
Anyway.
As I was saying.
So
our water lines froze
into the kitchen.
I turned the heat on
and it thawed out.
Wasn't a problem.
But this has been a lot of fun.
And I want to thank
Mike and Joni
from
Those Who Clam Together.
They invited us
when we were at the Hershey Show
to come up here
for winter camping
first weekend in December.
So I was a little apprehensive about it
because we've never done it.
But it's been a lot of fun.
So the park has basically
one loop open
this time of the year.
Now they supposedly
had a frost free
spigot to fill up.
But they didn't.
It froze.
So luckily for us
there's a laundry room
where we were able to fill up from there.
So
right behind
our
spot
Site 150
there's a little asphalt trail.
It kind of just loops around
this little frozen
inlet little lake.
So we thought we'd just take the pups out
for a quick walk. And let's talk about it, Tina.
So
we talked about the park a little bit.
They do have Disc Golf
which is not open this time of year.
There is a really cool
I guess
they just call it the lodge.
Very pretty.
So if you're not a
camper that would be a place
you'd want to stay. It's really nice.
Right now
it's decorated in Christmas
decorations.
They have a nice little bar area
that you can go to
to warm up.
So we've met a lot of
cool new people.
Yeah.
Jen and Eric.
We met them.
Jen and Will.
Will and William.
We met so many people
that
it's kind of hard to remember everybody's names.
come on Denver let's go buddy.
The pups want to stop and smell everything.
Which is fine. They need to get out
and exercise a little bit.
We met Gary.
And I don't really know much about Gary.
Although
I think it was Jeff
and Gary were going to
offer me some kimchi.
Never had it before. I know
they're going to offer me a taste
of it.
So I might take them up on that.
We might try to come back
in either the spring
or the fall
and see what it's like
when it's fully
operational.
Okay so now
we're on the trail
headed to
do you know what lake is it?
We don't know the lake
we're hiking to. It's one of the great lakes.
I wouldn't get out there on this.
Alright so we made it down to the lake.
Yeah it's beautiful.
One of the great lakes. We still don't know which one it is.
Is it eerie?
It might.
It might be eerie. I don't know.
We shouldn't know that.
We'll figure it out.
But
as you can tell it's the first full
weekend in December
and we've already got ice
on the lake.
If you look close enough you'll see
two white swans out there.
They're so pretty.
Well I think they're swans.
They're really
pretty out there on the water.
The first time we've done winter
camping and
it's cold but it's so much fun.
So a new
experience for us.
Alright Tina
here's your challenge.
Count how many birds you see.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, 8, 9. You missed that one.
Look how nice it is out there on Lake Erie.
I've been to
Lake Erie before but never
in the winter. No.
Never in the winter. It's a first for us.
Alright.
So
winter camping has its challenges
but it's tolerable.
Now our RV says it's four seasons
camping
but it's not really
four seasons.
I guess it could be but man I wouldn't want it to get any
colder than what we've had.
The coldest it got I think was 18 degrees.
Right.
But David did a good job
monitoring the heaters
and the gas
and kept us nice and warm in the camper.
Our little tip here is
to
monitor your current usage
on both legs.
If you have a 50 amp RV
so you need to watch
what circuit you're plugged into.
We had the two space heaters like I showed you
you'll see here.
What
we did for the underbelly
is we kept the space heaters
to run around 66
degrees but I had the thermostats
for the heat, the gas
heat at 68.
So when
it would drop down below 68 of course
then the gas would come on
and it kept the underbelly warm.
Which is I'm pretty sure how it thawed out
the faucet.
So I've
installed the
tank heaters on the bottom
of the rig and
I guess they did okay.
It's cold.
Hang on.
I don't think the sink is working.
The sink's not working?
No the faucet's not running anymore.
It's cold out there.
I don't think
see there's no water.
Wasn't it working last night?
When I filled up it did.
It's not working now.
Great.
Is the sink
in the bathroom ready?
Let's see.
The pump's on.
Let's just see.
This one's working.
The hot and cold are working
here.
I know I heard it just moments ago.
Okay.
Well it's possible it froze up.
Possible.
End of flashback.
So and I think that froze
literally I think that froze
from where we filled
up with water.
Just to the
site which was
a quarter of a mile away and
overnight because I know it worked
in the morning.
I mean that evening it worked.
And we got up in the morning and no water.
No water in the kitchen.
Everything else worked.
We're heading back and we're going to have a
Chili
Chili tonight.
Chili Pigeon dinner and some other
fun activities.
Looking forward to that.
We're going to head on home, let the pups have their dinner
and then we're going to have ours.
Snickerdoodle.
What are you doing Tina?
Oh getting ready to get Chili.
Look how yummy it looks.
Yeah.
Yummy.
And you only brought one gift, let me know.
Okay so you guys
brought one, you only get one card.
I mean someone like
put hearts.
The shape of a heart.
Hit a club.
That's me.
Hit a club.
Alright.
What is yours?
I'm not going to tell you.
They didn't even know what was in it.
Does the lock-in happen here?
She's sad.
Does the lock-in happen even if they're not open?
Where's that one
that everyone missed?
She took mine.
You can steal one or you can pick another one.
Pay attention.
This must be pretty important.
I don't even know what you have in your hand but I must know.
Try the best one.
Oh my gosh.
See you guys have to understand this.
This is actually on my Christmas list.
Mexican trained dominoes.
I like what you did.
Oh well shoot.
Man I got a wavy
big
hoodie.
Where's that shoe box at?
Wait a minute.
Finally finally.
What do we got here?
Sauces and stuff.
Tissue paper.
A lot of little different seasonings.
Grilling spices.
And then you had the night before.
I had the night before.
It all depends.
We're starting bids for
January to June.
I'll probably get thrown.
I just happened to have
a sticker.
That's our card.
You got the I.S. on.
The reflection right here.
Yeah I did.
She would have told
about a good part last night.
I did but you told too.
You just didn't remember.
Didn't he tell that
he ran over the bucket right?
He denied it at first though.
But we're sorry
that we ran over yours.
I didn't actually run it over.
The truck sits so high.
The bucket was just under the truck.
The bucket is fine.
I want you to show this part
of you running over the bucket
right now and then you guys tell us
what you think.
It's okay.
His lawyer
will contact your lawyer.
Thank you and we will
buy you a new bucket.
No I don't want another bucket.
Pretty.
