The 2024 Asian Tour season ended in an appropriately dramatic fashion in the PIF Saudi International.
It came down to a three-man playoff.
Abraham Ansah made a very good defence of the title, finishing just outside the top 20.
Nurse Birdie at the 16th on his way to a closing 67.
That 67 was matched by Dean Burmester, this at the 13th from the South African.
Beautifully hold, he too finishes at 14 under par.
This was one of the shots of the day. Cam Smith on the 18th.
He really had played so well today in the Saudi sunshine and that set up a closing birdie.
And he would set the clubhouse target at 21 under par.
For a long time it didn't look as if that was going to be enough though.
Joaquin Neyman playing particularly well. This is second into the 10th.
Plenty of birdies for the Chilean, but two bogeys in the last five would be crucial.
Caleb Surat played a beautiful shot at 13. He made six birdies today as he headed for the 18th, looking good for the title.
But this on the 18th tee from the young American.
This was a fatal mistake.
Into the water.
It would cost him a closing bogey.
In the end, Neyman had this for the victory.
Step out on 18 and left us with a three-man playoff. Neyman, Surat and a surprised Cam Smith who didn't think that he had done enough.
All three made birdies on the first playoff hole.
But this was the crucial shot from Neyman.
Beautifully played to set up a short birdie putt.
Surat had to hold this for his birdie.
And so did Cam Smith.
Both missed and that meant that Joaquin Neyman had this short birdie putt.
For a closing birdie and to win
the PIF Saudi International.
Not only the tournament trophy, but also the International Series trophy as well.
What a day for Joaquin.
