Countryside Weekend: Gardening, Cooking and Simple Living

Countryside Days

Good morning. I don't know if you know how rare this is, but it's mid-September
and it's not supposed to be this sunny, but we've been so blessed with a late summer
this year that I'm actually a little bit shocked. We've been sitting outside having dinners.
We're out today. Although I have a little jacket, the sun is super hot. That's our new family member.
One more. Hello.
Welcome back to Max and Maya living and today we are living. We're living, living, living.
Welcome back to another video. We haven't done this in a while. I'm so excited to be back vlogging.
Maya has just finished her hair, finished our daughter's hair. She's doing like different
styles of Saga's hair like almost every day. Saga, do you like when mama does your hair?
So today we're going to take you with us on a day in the life on the countryside this weekend.
And although we live on the countryside, we are very much connected to the community in the
nearby town. And although it's just a couple of hundred people living there, there are sometimes
things happening. You've seen us. We used to have a studio there. We're not there anymore currently
because it's a seasonal thing. But Saga goes to daycare there. Our grocery store is there. The
gas station is there. There's a school. And today there's like an activity day for families. And I
think it's the church who hosts this. Is that correct? Yeah. And a fun fact, there's going to
be a market in like two weeks where Maya is going to actually have a stall where she does hair
for other kids. My tip to people who move abroad or move to different places, my tip would be to
integrate into the community, whether that's through community events, even the church,
the school. Having a kid is like way in now. Yeah, so that's my tip. So I just wanted to do
something that is part of the community. So. How important it is, you were adopted the community
that you're in. And I was thinking the same thing. So our best friends who you were renting the
studio from for the season, they have this summer. It was special summer because they were granted.
What would you call it? They were granted like the. Oh, well, they were having pub nights,
basically, which was an opportunity for them to host and invite people from the neighborhood,
meaning they had they were serving food and it was just really nice to bring community together.
And because of that, we got to meet a lot of people from we're the only ones. Yeah,
we're not the only ones who are Americans there. Yeah. Lots of Americans, English.
I won't even say Australians, but yeah. And what I like to. So me and Maya were contributing.
We were volunteering. Obviously, it's our friends. We wanted to help. But we wanted to help with
things that maybe on the countryside hasn't been so much of like an asset yet until this moment
when we got the chance to use the things that we're good at, which is like content or so we're
helping filming. You help with making the posters and things like that. So for me, it felt because
I feel like everyone in the country, I'm like they come with their tractors. They're covered
like countryside assets. And I feel like I really get to like give back with my skills. Yeah. So Max
was filming a lot, doing photography. Yeah, I did filming and photography and also designing
their poster. Actually, now I'm like the town like designer. So I have more people knocking on
the door. Listen, Canva is the plug. So I feel like I it does require some not very much. You
just have to have an eye. So yeah, that's where we're going right now is our community. It's our
town. Hundreds of people who came. Yeah, there was loads of people.
No, I'll take everyone.
Okay, and just like that, it's all done. It's all over. But we're here
in my old office. And I'm going to show you the posters that I created for our local pub night.
I don't know if she's like, I don't think she would like it.
So do you draw what you see? You just look at the person and you don't look at the paper.
We're back home, did a quick stop at the store. We're gonna have pizza tonight. So I'm gonna make
my own pizza dough. Got some dry yeast. It's super simple. All you need is water, flour,
dry yeast, and some olive oil, and some salt, a little bit of sugar if you want to.
Okay, let's make some pizza dough. 13 grams of protein, 30 grams of protein.
That's good pizza dough. And bread. You know what my is actually an expert now. So now I feel a
little bit undermined. Like she's actually now have she has surpassed me on every single level
when it comes to cooking, baking. So now she's soon gonna leave me. She actually fell in love
with me mainly because my cooking and my baking. And now she is taking over that. And now I'm
falling in love with that new Maya. Isn't that beautiful? So you put five deciliters of water
and 14 grams of dry yeast.
Put some olive oil in there. I just trust this machine more than I trust myself.
Get it nice around the oil.
Maya, what have I done wrong here?
My dough is super hard. My dough is super hard. What have I done wrong?
You have to let it rise. Remember? Yeah. Oh yeah, maybe that's what it is.
You don't even need to do all that. Look how she's working with her hands.
Show them. Show them. Yeah, you fold them in and out like that. We'll just put that away.
Put a blanket over it. Keep it somewhere. Two hours.
Push them. Push them. Okay, so Saga wanted bubble. She doesn't like my...
She wants bubble water, which means bubble water. But she doesn't want...
She doesn't want this normal thing. So we came with this brilliant idea that we can make our own
apple juice, right? So we have the apple that... What would you call this?
Apple juice. Yeah. So this juice is from the apples that Maya used to make applesauce. So
the liquids from the apples, she made a juice from it. So my idea is that we're going to take
some of this and some bubble water and make it into a Saga special, okay? Okay, so we'll take
some of this. Some of the apple juice. Like this. Okay, a little bit more. Not too much. That's
enough. Okay, stir it a little bit. Should we put an orange inside too? Yeah. And then we're also
going to make our own... We're going to make a tropical juice. So we're going to put some orange
in there too. Squeeze the whole orange. So we put it in here. Okay, stir it.
How does it taste, Saga?
Can I try?
So good.
Put it here.
Huh? What's that you do, Saga? Pick it up? Okay.
Are you happy? You take it home, Jackie. Jackie also take it home there.
Oh.
Isn't that a game changer? Yeah. That thing.
When you try to pull it.
Very good.
Are we going to try this? We're going to try the pizzas.
Saga's pizza has a homemade tomato sauce, cheese, and salami.
You have the veggie one. I have veggies and then I have pears with walnuts, cheese,
and drizzled with maple syrup. The vegetables are peppers from our neighbor. Zucchini is also from
our neighbor. The tomatoes is from our plant house. And then the chanterelles is from our forest.
Dear God, thank you for this beautiful meal. Thank you for family. Thank you for community.
Thank you for community. Thank you for amazing husband that cooks amazing pizzas.
And we pray that this food nourishes our mind, body, and soul. In Jesus name, amen.
This is good. The maple syrup is so much better than honey. Oh yeah.
Guys, if you're from Sweden, you know. If you know, you know. We love bearnaise sauce
on our pizzas. Every pizzeria you go to in Sweden, you'll have bearnaise. This is so good.
What is it? Like mayonnaise and tarragon. Mayonnaise and what? Tarragon.
What do you say? Tarragon? Tarragon? We talked about this.
This is so good. Sorry, I just see a little bum walking around in the background.
Guys, we're checking out. Yeah. We're gonna watch a movie.
And we'll see what happens tomorrow. I had swimming hall in my mind but I think
so we'll see. So guys, we're so happy to be back filming. Be back documenting. How does it feel?
It feels great. It feels a bit, I feel, I was telling you, I feel a bit uncomfortable.
I do feel a little bit like, like I haven't done this in a while. Yeah. But I get that.
Okay. We'll watch movie. You do that. That's out. That's out. Peace out. We'll see you later.
Let's see how far she gets. Let us know in the comments
how far we get in the movie or how far you get in the movie when you watch with her.
