Matt, Tommy, welcome to Player vs. Pandit.
This is the quiz where we put Jamie Carragher up against some of the most
knowledgeable players in the Premier League.
The fact that it's a 2v1 might give me a little bit more of a problem.
Like the old fashioned blockbusters.
Right. This is the first time that Carragher's taken on two players.
It's usually just one v one.
Do you two feel like you're going to work well as a team?
Who's got the brains between the two of you?
It's basically Carragher v one and a half because I've got the full brain
and Tommy's only got half a brain.
Doc has age on his side, which I don't.
So we'll be able to work together.
The players have a 5-2 lead at the moment.
So they've done pretty well.
Carragher's only won two, players have won five.
That's quite poor from him, really, isn't it?
I don't know. Maybe.
Round one is multiple choice.
You get one point per correct answer.
OK, the first question is, what is Wolves' highest finish ever in the Premier League?
Is it A, seventh, B, eighth or C, sixth?
Seventh.
I mean, that's it.
No, seventh.
No, no. Yeah.
I was convinced that it was seventh.
I think Newell got seventh twice, I'm certain of that.
But was it sixth?
I think seventh.
Smashed it.
First question right.
That's correct, then, so one point for you.
Question two.
How many different managers have won the Premier League?
OK, so you've got A, 15, B, 11 or C, 10.
Who's the signers?
Alex Ferguson, Henry Zagric, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho,
Ferguson, who comes back?
Carlo Ancelotti.
Obviously, Klopp and Peck, we've got them.
Conte, Ranieri, I'll just rather than go through the years, so that's nine.
I've got seven so far.
I've got, I think it's 10.
It can't be 15.
It's 11.
Because Mancini won it with two.
Locking in 11?
Yeah, it's 11.
It's 11, just listen to me.
It's 11.
You listening to him?
I'm happy, yeah, yeah, go on then.
I think it's 11.
Yeah.
Two out of two.
You're doing well, well done.
That was a tricky one.
Forgot about Mancini.
Correct answer.
I like the way you worked that all out at the beginning,
you went through the years, OK.
Question three.
Chelsea hold the record for fewest goals conceded in a Premier League season.
How many did they concede in the 2004-05 season?
15.
Your options are...
Have you seen these questions?
Your options are A, 18, B, 15 or C, 17.
Mine is 15.
Correct answer.
No need to work that one out.
B.
You're not having to do much in this quiz, are you?
You take day two and a lot better than day three.
If he knows the answer, then I'm not going to argue with him, am I?
It's 15.
Yeah.
Correct.
Big tip, three out of three.
OK, question four.
What is the capacity of Molineux?
This is the current capacity, OK.
You've got A, 31,750,
B, 32,340
or C, 32,050.
I think it's 32-something.
I'm saying that just because two of the answers are...
31,000.
31, yeah.
I don't know if I've ever seen 32 with a temporary stand in the corner, don't they?
Yeah, but if that's a temporary stand, though, that's not, like, official, is it?
I think it's 31,000.
Lock it in?
I think 31.
Yeah, we've got a clue, to be honest.
Wait, we're not locked in yet.
No, no, you're locked in.
We're not locked in yet.
No, I'm going to have to...
We're not locked in.
32,050, Shaft ticks over the 32,000 mark.
It must be that temporary stand.
I'll go with the 31.
31,750.
It's the wrong answer.
OK, what was it?
It was C, 32,050.
There's been five Irishmen who have won the Premier League.
Matt Doherty, Irish.
Can you name five of them, you get a point for each of those.
Erm...
Are we going as, like, Dennis Irwin and that?
Dennis Irwin.
Yeah, match them.
One.
Roy Keane.
Yeah.
Two.
You've got Roy Keane.
Jon O'Shea.
There's been more Irish, yeah, at United.
Jon O'Shea.
Dennis Irwin.
Three.
OK.
Two left.
Stephen Keller.
No, we actually spoke about this before,
I don't think he made enough appearances to qualify.
Damien Duff.
That's four.
Right.
Need the fifth one.
Damien Duff.
Well done!
That's an easy one, really.
Oh, I've got it!
He used to have the shots outside the box.
Who are you thinking?
Darren...
Gibson.
Yes!
We got there!
What's the last one?
Do you want me to say?
Darren Gibson.
Oh, my God, at United.
Is he Irish, yeah?
OK, round number two, this one's entitled Who Am I?
There's three people, I've got three clues for each player.
OK.
You get three points if you get them from the first clue,
two points if it takes two clues,
and one point if you need the final clue.
OK, the first person.
Clue number one.
I was victorious in the Championship pay-off final
three times in four seasons.
So his club have sold him?
When he's gone home?
What was the name that first came off the back to you?
I was thinking someone from Fulham, but that's not the same.
I was thinking Tom Carey.
I was thinking Mitchell.
No, go on.
Do you think you need another clue?
Yeah.
OK, clue number two.
I was voted Player of the Season by Portsmouth fans in 2006.
I don't remember 2006.
You know them.
I'm really trying to help you.
You know them.
I'm giving too much away.
Gary O'Neill?
I don't give Gary this much up.
Gary O'Neill?
Knocking in?
Yeah.
Well done.
Two points.
Go on, what's the last clue?
Clue number three.
I am one of four Englishmen to beat Pep Guardiola.
Oh, my God.
So you've played a year.
Who was a good player for Portsmouth?
2006.
I know who it is.
Go on.
Gary O'Neill.
Correct.
One point.
It took three clues.
You're just warming up.
Second person.
Clue number one.
I'm an Olympic gold medallist currently playing in the Premier League.
Cunha's won it.
Cunha's got it.
Who else?
Richarlison.
He won it as well, didn't he?
Because they all have the tattoos on them, don't they?
Yeah.
It's one of them two, isn't it?
The thing is, you're going to risk it and go for three points.
They're not going to give us two Wolves gigs in a row, so it's Richarlison.
Are you going to ask the second clue?
Go on.
Clue number two.
Yeah.
I am only the fourth player to have scored a hat-trick against Chelsea
at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
I think I know who it was and I was going to answer them first,
but it just threw me because I remember that game last season
and I don't know if it was Neto or Cunha who got the hat-trick.
I'm only the fourth player to have scored a hat-trick against Chelsea
at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Yeah, that's Cunha.
Cunha scored a hat-trick against them, remember?
Red kit.
Stop looking at me for signs, I'm so mad.
I know, it's got to be.
My poker face is terrible.
But they wouldn't give us two Wolves in a row, would they?
They couldn't.
How many...
Four people you say have scored a hat-trick at...
Come on, lad.
Oh, yeah, Cunha.
Cunha.
Correct.
Two points.
I think it's Cunha.
Correct.
Two points, yeah.
Who did he win the Olympics with then?
Brazilian.
Third person, third and final person this round.
Clue one.
I am the only player to win back-to-back Premier League titles
with two different clubs.
The first person to come to my head was David May.
Did he not go to...
He left Blackburn and then Blackburn won the league title.
It could be Real Madrid.
I know who it is.
It's Kante.
No, it's not because they tried to do Kante and drink water at the same time, remember?
I don't think they won it the first year.
I think they won it the second year.
Oh, I think I know, yeah.
Kante.
There you are.
Three points for you.
You only need a clue.
Number one.
Did Mahrez win it straight away?
Who was his manager, Pep?
Yeah.
Yeah, well, then he won it straight away.
It's Mahrez.
It's not Mahrez because...
It just doesn't sound right.
I'm giving you a second clue.
OK.
I was voted the PFA Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season.
I knew it.
Kante.
They must have won it straight away.
Is it?
Yeah.
Kante?
Locking it in?
Yeah.
Two points.
I feel like the most lenient quiz host ever.
I was saying Kante a lot at the start.
Never locked it in.
You never locked it in.
It's Mahrez, but that's that way.
You played for City, so you wanted to say Mahrez.
No, but it could have.
Well, the third clue was I was named French Player of the Year in 2017.
Quick note, though, Eric Cantona, 91-92 with Leeds,
which was obviously called the First Division.
And Mark Schwarzer doesn't count
as he didn't have enough appearances to qualify.
Listen, and you can keep this in,
this has got to stop this nonsense.
You won Premier League title, you know,
goalkeeper Scott Carson.
Please don't ever say these people have won titles.
Absolutely.
I'd be embarrassed.
This is staying in.
OK, round number three.
Stoppage time.
You have 30 seconds.
Name as many current Premier League stadiums
as you can in 30 seconds.
I want the name of the stadium, not the team.
OK?
Three, two, one, go.
Etihad, Old Trafford, Anfield, Emirates, Stamford Bridge.
Anfield, Goulsham Park, St James' Park,
Villa Park, the Emirates,
the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,
Old Trafford, the Etihad.
St James' Park, Amex Stadium,
Molineux, Villa Park.
Molineux.
Craven Cottage.
South House Park.
That's Brentford's one.
Community Stadium.
Selliers Park.
Portman Road.
What's Bournemouth?
It's the Bournemouth Stadium.
Dean Court, no?
Time.
Craven Cottage.
Southampton's.
St Mary's.
Time.
Right, guys, you've got the win against Carra there.
Congratulations.
How are you feeling?
We won.
Yeah, we won.
We won.
Yes!
What a win, what a win.
It's like you've just won the X Factor.
Never lose that feeling of winning.
No, no, no.
W's only, W's only.
Matt, Tommy, thank you very much.
Thank you, no problem.
That was player versus pundit.
