Storyline:
A young alien (David Love) falls for a pretty teenage Earth girl (Dawn Anderson) and they team up to try to stop the plans of his invading cohorts, who intend to use Earth as a food-breeding ground for giant lobsters from their planet. The invaders, who arrive in a flying saucer, carry deadly ray guns that turn Earth-people into skeletons.

"It took reading some of the details about how this movie was made and its budget to find that appreciation but I honestly felt this was one of the better made B movies of its time.
The story is interesting and doesn't stall like others in its genre. The pacing is better than most Corman movies I tried to like.
I never once heard of actors having to base their performance on prerecorded dialogue. They sat in a recording booth and read their dialogue from scripts before ever actually playing the roles on camera. They had nothing to look at to match their words to but they had to remember their performances in the booth while shooting the scenes. I always felt there was something a little off center with this movie and now I know what it is.
$14,000 to make a feature length film was unheard of even back then. Yes, there are flaws but paying for extra film to use and process to cover them is impossible on that budget. Never mind the extra cost spent on time. So you get cheap props that give away their origins. Im not a prude about such things after seeing a woman nearly tipping over cardboard headstones in Plan 9. That movie is entertaining for its ambitious plot idea and painfully incompetent direction. Teenagers From Outer Space is actually very well made. The giant shadow of a lobster is rightfully not on screen too long. Corman would have done better if he didnt have that goofy looking monster costume meant to be a space alien or Astronaut (Night of the Blood Beast, Teenage Caveman) on screen as long
The 86 minute version has some extra exposition scenes like cutaways to TV news broadcasts and the opening with astronomers talking. It doesn't slow the pacing too much but I don't mind the 72 minute version.
This is the kind of low budget 50s sci fi movie I would show to someone who thinks those movies are only Ed Wood and Jerry Warren quality movies so I can prove them wrong. Making a movie with no real financial support and no guarantee that the final product will ever be seen is the only really courageous thing anyone has done in the entertainment industry.
