A storm is coming to Ukraine but not the one the Russians would have you believe.
This is Ukraine's latest piece of kit in development the Storm multi-role armoured
vehicle set to be the new kid on the block of amphibious military vehicles.
But this design claims to be the first to take advantage of a hybrid electric power chain
with an 18 to 36 hour range in hybrid mode or eight and a half hours on diesel generator only
It'll have a top speed of 88 miles per hour on land with two and a half hours of operation
or 21 miles per hour that's 18 knots on water for eight hours all on one battery charge.
Storm will carry up to 10 personnel and is being designed for exceptional mobility
and reliability with the latest ballistic IED and mine blast protection technology.
Research and development company Highland Systems is testing prototypes right now
with another variant capable of complete submersion.
Also on the Highland Systems production line is this submarine called Kronos.
The developers describe it as the world's first gliding submarine with a unique hydrodynamic hull
that allows it to move more like an aircraft in flight through the water.
The hull is a combination of steel and high-strength composite material
shaped to give it a low signature to defeat detection systems and radio interference
and it'll be able to carry a small-sized Italian torpedo system called Black Scorpion
courtesy of defense giant Leonardo with a range of 3,000 meters.
Like Storm, prototypes are already undergoing testing in the Middle East.
