Squishy Makeover: Fixing Your Squishies #17

Did I scare you?
Hey, it's me.
So today is a squishy makeover.
Aw yeah.
These squishies that I'm about to paint are used squishies donated to me from some of my viewers.
I make entire unboxing videos dedicated to opening up the squishies that I've been sent.
It's always very interesting.
Oh no!
From my most recent unboxing video, the most highly requested, very highly, highly highly, this just keeps on going,
a lot of people requested to see this giant donut get a makeover.
I was trying to roll it into the frame and make like a cool moment.
Didn't really work.
This donut is huge and slightly creepy.
I was really excited when I received it.
Okay, you can go hang out in the corner for now, you pervert.
The next squishy I selected is this unicorn head.
Where's its body?
What happened here?
I don't know.
This one was highly requested by me and nobody else.
Nobody else really wanted to see this one in particular, but I have a plan for it.
Now I'm doing that with it.
Okay.
And third, is everyone ready?
Y'all can back off.
I'm finally giving a makeover to this wonderful little sweetie.
It's so cute.
I got this one such a long time ago and fell in love.
It's finally your time.
Someone was calling me.
Hello?
Oh, what am I doing?
Uh, yeah, I'm at work.
So as usual, I'm painting three squishies in this episode.
But as unusual, these three squishies are going to be united.
First, it's time for squishy roasting.
So this is a massive donut.
Obviously, we've already covered that.
With a creepy face.
The design of the face itself doesn't really bother me.
It's the fact that there's a hole directly below it.
What the heck?
It looks like it has a hole in its throat.
That just kind of weirds me out just a little bit.
Well, at least I'm entertaining myself.
It does come with a scattering of very smeared looking sprinkles on one half of it.
I love sprinkles.
I do.
But just not like this.
What are you looking at?
I'm also surprised by how unsquishy this is.
I thought since it's huge, it would be squishy.
But it's really just not.
This is not squishy enough to relieve any stress.
This is causing me stress.
Oh, chill.
I'm just kidding.
So first, I'm going to sand this to give the foam some texture to ensure that the paint will stick to it.
Usually, sanding a squishy is kind of an awkward thing to do because they're squishy and they flop all around.
But this one is so firm, it actually made the sanding really easy.
Now, you see this lovely indent where the edge of the frosting is?
It's nice, right?
Let's kill it.
I'm actually not going to keep this as a donut.
So I want to get rid of the evidence that this was ever a donut.
So that means chopping off that frosting, which I had no idea was going to be such an annoying task, especially on the inside.
All my scissors were having issues.
Okay, guys.
Who's going to handle this?
Handle.
So I did the best I could.
Opie, you probably shouldn't be swinging your tail around here.
Not a good time.
Once I was done with that, I started trying to fill in the rips with some puffy paint.
I always see comments saying,
It sounds like she's saying puppy paint.
So I guess I should enunciate more.
Puffy.
Or maybe I'll just go with it.
I'm using some puppy paint.
And the goal here is to get as smooth of a surface as possible, which was not exactly easy because the cuts I made were really harsh.
So I had a heck of a time trying to fill those in.
Now I'm bringing in a block of memory foam.
I'm going to do some sculpting.
Wahoo.
I try to avoid this if I can because I'm not the best at it.
What the heck?
I try to use, like, bits of squishies that I already have, if possible.
But sometimes there's just nothing I can find with the specific shape that I need.
So I have to cut it out from scratch.
I'm just drawing out where I need to make the cuts.
This process takes absolutely forever, and I can never seem to get the foam to be completely smooth.
If you don't believe me, try it sometime.
It's misery.
But don't get me wrong, it's totally worth it in the end.
Especially if it's the only way that I can make my vision come to life.
And yes, this is my vision.
What is it?
So do you remember that unicorn?
I hope so.
Otherwise, you may want to get that checked out.
So this squishy is actually really pretty.
That's really pretty.
I'm not gonna roast it super hard because there's really nothing too wrong with it.
Other than the fact that it has no body.
Let's hope she has a really great personality.
I will say, though, I love the colors of the hair.
It's like a pastel galaxy vibe.
Also, it does have an appropriate level of squishiness.
I can work with this.
So this is where the unicorn head comes in.
You see? Does it all make sense now?
So we have the head, and then the memory foam is its tail.
Are you still confused?
Yes!
Well, I'm sorry.
In order to attach the head onto the donut, I'm cutting a dip into the bottom of the head.
Since the top of the donut is, like, rounded, I want to create a rounded dip inside the head.
So that the pieces kind of come together and fit like a puzzle.
So once that's kind of working, I'm gonna take some fabric glue.
And... struggling just a little bit.
Uh, okay.
I'm spreading the glue around, getting that head in position.
And then putting some rubber bands around it to hold the two pieces together.
Like I always do.
The only problem is, it's not staying.
That's not gonna work.
So I have to try it again.
Hey, eh?
Stay.
I got it to stay long enough to dry.
And now I'm just gonna fill in the gaps with puppy paint.
Yeah, you heard me right.
This is just gonna seal in the crack in between the two pieces.
It's like caulking a bathroom.
It's exactly, it's exactly the same thing.
No differences whatsoever.
Turning my attention to the back, I'm gonna attach the little tail.
Actually, it's a big tail.
It may be too big, but that's okay.
I'm gonna glue it on and secure it the exact same way.
Having much the same struggles again.
I got it kind of on there, but those edges are not sticking at all.
And that's gonna be a problem.
So I have to bring out the big guns.
Watch where you're pointing that thing.
I try to avoid using hot glue in squishies if I can, because hot glue does dry hard.
Fabric glue is soft and flexible, but it can be difficult to work with.
So I'm just using a tiny bit of hot glue to finish the job.
Now that I've gotten all three pieces stuck together,
it's time to start the long process of covering that memory foam with lots of paint.
Watch it.
If you're combining memory foam with squishies,
you probably want to fill in all the little holes of the foam to give it a more solid, smooth surface
so that it somewhat matches with the rest of the squishy.
And this means many layers of paint.
Killed off the green paint, moving on to a neon orange now.
Obviously, the colors I'm using for this don't really matter,
because I'm just using this to fill in the holes.
I do try to stick with lighter colors of paint,
just because it's easier to paint over lighter colors when I actually go to decorate it.
Oh, here comes color number three.
We're starting to look kind of like a rainbow sherbet now.
And wow, I'm still painting over this massive tail.
Probably didn't need to be this big, but you know.
The fatigue is setting in.
I'm slowing down.
I'm getting tired.
Opie's interrupting again.
Oh! Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
I even went right-handed for a while back to the top.
Oops, dropped a little paint in your hole.
Excuse me.
Somehow this donut looks even pervier with one eye covered.
And...
Oh my gosh!
We're still doing this layer after layer.
This video I filmed over the span of about three weeks,
so I guess I didn't realize just how much went into this until I put all the footage together.
Okay, and finally, the real paint job now.
Yes, that's right.
So now I'm switching to some matte fabric paint over the entire thing,
which is finally gonna make it look like one cohesive item.
And this is where I can really start to see if I've done a good job or not
with these repairs and these alterations that I've made.
Oh, that edge is quite choppy.
It now looks like, uh, butchered frosting.
In case you haven't discovered this yet,
I'm turning this into a unicorn pool float.
I don't know if you've seen these around, but I think it was kind of a thing.
Here I go playing with blocks.
I'm building a little tower to prop this thing up
so that I can paint the bottom without smashing its head.
And there we have it, our fresh white pool float.
Time for the color!
I'm going rainbow with this because, one, unicorns and rainbows go together,
and two, I'm obsessed with rainbows and will use any excuse I can.
And it just happened to have the perfect number of hair strands.
Not hair strands.
Hair clumps.
The tail, however, which I shaped myself,
so I totally should have considered this but I didn't,
had an odd number of hair clumps.
So I painted it one way, but that was not making me very happy to look at.
Mm-mm.
So I decided to change it, and, you know, it got really ugly for a second there,
but this time I did one color per clump,
and then it just repeats the rainbow pattern over again.
That's better.
Yes, I'll accept that.
I wonder if anyone's gonna be disappointed that I didn't keep the donut a donut.
I thought long and hard about keeping this a donut,
and I decided that this might be a little bit more interesting.
Thank you, bye.
Okay, and we're starting to look good now.
Bringing back that weird tower,
I am gonna paint the bottom blue.
Since this pool float is never actually gonna go in the water,
unless somebody is trying to give me a heart attack.
It does not belong in the water.
This is for display only.
I wanted to make it look like it's in the water.
Now I'm going in and neatening some little areas up,
cleaning up any messes that were made,
any mistakes that I had made.
I'm painting the horn gold.
That's gonna take about 100 more coats of paint.
And I'm sticking with the same eye placement as the original,
but instead of doing that derpy little smile, remember that,
I'm just gonna add some nostrils and call it a day.
Pop in those ears and finish off the eyes.
Then I'm adding some little gold stars to the top
just for an extra little bit of detail
since it was looking a little bit plain.
And finally, I'm adding a couple little splashes.
You probably just thought that that was another one of the memes of myself.
Memes.
Anyway, no, it's not.
I actually have an announcement to make, so I'm here.
I am selling...
Laptops.
No, not laptops.
These decals that are now on my laptop case,
I have 12 designs available designed by me,
which are based on things designed by me.
These are super...
They can fly!
These are super durable vinyl decals.
They're not like cheapy paper stickers.
They're meant to last, so you can put them on your laptops,
your cell phone cases, water bottles, whatever.
10 of them are based on squishy designs that I've done in squishy makeovers.
And then I have my channel icons,
and also the elusive squishy ghost.
We do have a pretty limited supply of these as of now,
so they may sell out.
You may have to act fast.
I have a lot of really exciting new products coming.
So you may see me jumping into videos like this more often.
I hope you don't mind.
If you want to know about these product launches in advance,
be sure to follow my Instagram.
I actually told my Instagram followers about these stickers about a week ago.
These are available to purchase in the United States,
in the EU,
and in Canada.
Okay, and now back to the video.
And here's the final result.
Oh yes, I love how this came out.
I think it looks so cool.
It really does look like a pool float,
and I'm really happy about it.
I just knew from the start,
these two squishies,
they belonged together.
I don't know why I keep wanting to do that.
And just look at them now.
The donut still kinda sucks to squish, not gonna lie.
The tail is actually the best.
As much as I love this though,
it is incomplete.
It's a lonely pool float,
with nobody to float in it.
This is where the bear comes in.
Hi!
So this, I have to say,
is one of my all-time favorite squishies that I've ever been sent.
It's just adorable, no doubt about it.
And it feels so cool.
It's almost like clay.
It's just so nice.
Let's all just move on from that.
There are many rips in it,
here,
there,
everywhere.
All the color has rubbed off of that bow tie,
and I'm not sure what's going on with the ear.
I think that that's a design decision,
but what is that?
Once again,
I do need to sand this first to prepare it for paint.
And whoops,
the background color is wrong.
I'm whipping out the memory foam again,
and this is when I realize,
dang it,
about the background.
Okay, back to purple.
I'm making a unicorn horn for this bear.
It's got a unicorn horn also.
Is there no escape?
It was kind of stupid of me to make a unicorn horn from scratch,
because I literally have probably 15 unicorn squishies laying around
I could have just ripped the horn from.
I was just talking about how I don't like to do this if I don't have to.
But, um,
maybe I couldn't find one that was the right size.
I don't know.
I don't quite remember why I decided to make this from scratch,
but I did.
So that's that.
I'm taking my fabric fusion to attach this onto our little bear's head
and rubber band that.
Oh, she's got a little nubbin.
And after about 30 minutes,
we're good to go.
And it's time to smother this bad boy in paint.
I think when I shape things out of memory foam,
they almost always turn out oversized.
It's a big tail.
That horn is very large and in charge.
While I'm at it,
I'm going to use some paint in the ripped areas to seal those up as well.
And I'm feeling like there's an unwanted member of our ensemble here.
I'm looking at you, bow tie.
So I'm going to cut this off as carefully as possible.
Initially, I really liked the bow tie.
That's actually one of the things that added to the cute factor,
but we're going to have to ditch that to stay on theme.
Of course, I will save it just in case I can use it for a future squishy.
Now this whole area is just mangled and messed up.
So I have to go in and try my best to smooth and neaten all of that up,
which includes a thick layer of paint.
Once that's dry, I can actually start decorating.
So I'm going with a sun-kissed brown.
This bear is normally fair-skinned, but it's summertime,
so she's rocking a nice tan.
That would make more sense.
No, that makes zero sense.
Moving on to the back.
This is a perfect squishy for summer.
So of course I would create this right after summer ends.
All right, so now I'm going to put a bathing suit on her
so that she can go out and swim.
We're trying to be modest here.
It's not that kind of party.
So I'm just painting her in a plain white suit.
You know, nice and classy and pretty.
Not too busy or distracting.
You know what's even better than classy?
How about rainbow?
So I'm painting her suit with rainbow stripes.
I gave her a little bruise there, sorry.
My idea is that she is just obsessed with unicorns.
She's a big fan.
She's got her unicorn pool float.
She's wearing a unicorn horn.
And she's got her rainbow suit.
You know, she's just all types of decked out.
This suit was a commitment.
It took forever.
About halfway through painting this,
I was wishing that I had actually just painted a white suit.
What?
That was just a joke.
I'd never actually considered that.
Okay, looking great.
Heal that bruise.
Touch up some little areas that needed some help.
Girl, get your butt out of the camera.
And here comes the face.
I wanted to do the big eye thing, you know,
like the original bear had.
But I wanted to change the expression to be a more excited expression.
While that dries, I'm just working on some general details around.
Finally addressing that horn.
And I'm also painting a headband.
Because I don't want the horn to look like it's actually growing from the bear.
I want it to look like she's wearing it as an accessory.
And I'm getting back to work on the eyes, briefly.
I'm gonna stop there.
I'm adding a little gold rim to the bathing suit
to coordinate with the gold stars.
Also, what is this hair spear?
Disturbing.
Originally, I was going to actually attach the bear to the float
and make one solid squishy.
But I changed my mind because I wanted to be able to do a lot of detail on the bear.
It would have been trickier to paint the details if it were all in one piece.
And you can't really attach them after you've painted everything.
I mean, technically you can, but it's just a major pain.
And yes, this face is starting to look very excited.
Yeehaw!
Calm down.
I also went for brown eyes, which I don't know why I never paint my squishies with brown eyes.
They look so sweet.
Anyway, the moment has come.
They look so cute together.
They look so cute.
So this was a massive squishy makeover.
As I said, this took me three weeks of work.
Totally, totally worth it.
This is now one of my favorite creations ever.
I love it so much.
There's really nothing about it that I'm not happy with at this moment.
The bear still has the marvelous squish.
And I'm really glad that I made this two pieces instead of one.
So I can do that.
And that.
And that and that and that and that and that and that and this.
That's enough of that.
I'm so sorry.
So these are my two largest squishy creations side by side.
Pretty sure the ice cream sundae is still the biggest.
Okay, so that's it for today.
I hope you guys enjoyed this makeover and are satisfied with the results.
Okay, it's a pool float.
Why is it galloping?
This is definitely in my top five squishy makeovers ever.
So I really hope you guys like it.
Thank you so much for watching and I will see you next Friday.
