This is Detroit-style pizza.
I've never had Detroit-style pizza.
Do you even know what it is?
No, I don't have a clue.
This is delicious.
Oh my god, it's amazing.
I would say the most famous deep dish pizza you may have
heard of is Chicago.
I mean, I feel like I was blind, and now I
see what Detroit pizza is.
It was eye-opening, to say the least.
And mouth-opening.
And later on, bowel-opening.
Yeah, I was about to say that.
All right, guys.
Hello.
Hello again.
How are we doing?
Good.
Very good.
Ryan's one of our best friends.
Hello, Ryan.
He's going to be one of your best friends after today as well.
Because this is incredible.
There's a big fluffy boy.
That's a classic red stripe.
So cheese, tomato, that's it.
Nowhere to hide.
Nearly looks like lasagna.
That's what I thought.
It looks like lasagna.
And smells like one.
This is originated from Sicilian immigrants
who came over to Detroit, working in the car factories.
Literally took car factory trays,
and were like, let's bake some Sicilian-style pizza in there.
Which is why you've got these crispy edges,
because it's done in these steel pans.
He'll do it with car grease, or?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They order General Motors car grease.
Oh my gosh, look at that.
Look at that.
Hell.
Look how much dough, though.
That's thick.
And the crispy corners.
Everyone gets a corner.
Is that the rule?
Cheers, guys.
Detroit style pizza.
Oh, baby.
We did that in unison.
Oh, baby.
Oh my god.
That dough's fluffy, though, right?
It's delicious.
Mm-hmm.
Well, it's kind of reminiscent of Sicilian-style focaccia.
Focaccia.
The tomato sauce and marinara sauce on the top is so sweet.
I haven't had this since the last time we filmed a video.
It's super fresh, though.
It's amazing.
Oh my god, he's brought more.
He's brought more.
Of course we've got more.
Here's the Detroit.
So this is double pepperoni, jalapenos, covered in honey.
Why is it called the Detroit?
Because it's our number one seller.
Oh.
And a lot of people couldn't remember,
so they're just like, Detroit, yeah.
And then we're just like, we'll just call it the Detroit.
We'll help you out.
Let's go for the corner.
Oh, the corner bite.
So is that it?
It's an important bite of a Detroit pizza.
This is the most important bite on a Detroit pizza.
Oh my gosh.
The crunch.
Yeah.
Oh my god.
Oh, yeah.
It's the baked cheese in the same way as lasagna.
Yeah.
The cheese against the side where it gets crispy.
On a lasagna, you're fighting for that corner piece.
That is delicious.
They should make special trays for larger group sizes.
If there's like six of you, you could get like a hexagon.
Or a rhombus.
Oh, there's only four.
But it's just a corner.
Or like a star shape.
Oh, a star shape.
Loads of corners.
A dodecahedron.
This is double pepperoni, jalapeno.
Oh my gosh.
The works.
He said this is the favorite.
This is the most popular.
This is the number one.
Is it mental to start from the corner?
Because I want to.
Right.
Let's start with the corner.
No, I will not.
Whoa.
All right.
Always the best part first.
I don't know why, but I refuse.
I've got to go on it.
Cheers.
Oh.
Mm.
Oh.
Mm.
Oh my god.
That was the best bite.
The honey, the honey has caramelized on the edges.
The thing is, I'm scared.
It's like burnt sugar plus melted cheese.
I'm scared of biting into this corner, though.
I feel like I need to have a mouth guard
for the top of my mouth.
Yeah.
Honestly, it's scary.
I can see why this is the favorite, right?
This is delicious.
I want to say nothing for the last 20 minutes.
Because he's in heaven.
I'm shaking.
You're shaking.
You're enjoying yourself.
Well, do you know what?
All I can say is, God bless America.
OK.
OK, this one here is the Maui Waui.
So it's our version of ham and pineapple,
extra bacon, of course.
Hawaiian pizza sort of divides the world in two, right?
Between the right and the wrong.
I'm not going to say which is right and which is wrong.
I'll say it.
Ollie, there's only one way to go, man.
You ready?
We'll get ready.
Mm.
Bacon.
Mm.
Oh, my God.
Wow.
That's really good.
Just how thinly, like, lacy.
That corner piece.
That crispy cheese is around the edge.
Can you see it?
I love the base.
Because it's like an extra soft mattress.
It's like one of these poncy yoga mat pieces, you know?
And they roll it out, like, super, super thin.
You could lie on that with a herniated disc,
and it would probably solve it.
This is the only time I've really
liked pineapple on pizza.
Oh, wow.
And it works on this.
We've won you over.
It really does.
It's such a big country, but it has so many different types
of pizza.
So it's got Detroit.
It's got Chicago.
It's got New York.
And they're all so, I can't continue.
I can't, I can't continue.
So many times, yeah.
Chat GBT, give me more American-style pizzas.
Hi, there.
Yep, I'm just talking on this incredibly good phone case.
You're not talking on a phone case.
For legal reasons, I need to clarify
that our phone cases are not capable of receiving calls.
It is a great phone case, though.
You need to have a phone inside your case.
We've got our cheeky takeout logo, cheeky little guy.
He's also on mugs, hoodies.
Head to jolly.store.
Order now if you want to get stuff for Christmas.
This is just a quick shout-out, which is why I'm shouting.
OK, OK.
Look, it's a season to be jolly.
If you want to feel extra jolly this season,
go to jolly.store.
This one here, this is the Cadillac.
We call it the Cadillac because it's fully loaded
and it's real sexy.
Wow, very nice.
And I like this one with a little bit of our homemade hot
sauce there.
OK.
Cadillac's like a truck, right?
Oh my god, I'm sounding American.
What's going on?
You can't get Cadillac truck.
It's like a classic American muscle brand, eh?
I'm going for the corner again.
You're going corner in?
Corner in.
Oh, now you're flipping all about it.
Look, I'm a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong.
In fact, I'm a huge man.
I admit I'm wrong all the time.
Ginormous man.
All right.
Oh my goodness.
That is absurd.
That is absolutely absurd.
That's sweet.
Whoa.
I don't know what is in that, but it works so well
with the spiced tomato sauce.
The flavors, the cheese.
The flavors just compliment each other.
The peppers is what makes it so good.
Favorite bite so far.
They said try it with the hot sauce.
Wait, you're not doing a dip?
Let's dip.
Oh, yeah, man.
Oh, yeah.
Mm.
Whoa.
Oh my gosh.
That hot sauce is kind of tangy, you know?
Isn't it?
Yeah, it's vinegar-based.
Vinegar-based.
That is delicious.
That was the best bite of the day.
Really?
Wow, that was your favorite?
You really like that hot sauce.
The tanginess.
Yeah.
Peppers, hot sauce.
When we film these episodes and we've
like massively hyped a place, often
if I take Lizzie back or I go back again,
I'm worried that I over-hyped it the first time.
But I wasn't wrong.
This place is amazing.
In fact, in some ways, I'm quite a small man
by admitting that I was right.
Yeah, you were right.
Yeah, does that make me small?
I don't know.
That makes you medium-ish now.
Maybe I'm just evening it out.
Evening it out.
I'm getting back down to an average, having been huge.
Having been huge.
It kind of redefines what pizza can be.
I mean, obviously, Italians might not
call it pizza at all.
But no one cares what Italians think.
But then, look, let's be honest.
Of all the pizzas that are being sold across London,
I feel like this is not something
that is going to offend Italians.
They're too busy being offended by putting cream in carbonara.
Mamma mia!
Oh my gosh.
What is that?
Is that a fried Mars bar?
Deep-fried lasagna.
No way.
I was close.
Right when we were talking about the Italian
sensitivities, he's just coming with a deep-fried lasagna.
I mean, someone said it as a joke in the kitchen.
And I actually tried that.
And I did.
And everyone fell in love with it.
It's almost like a work of art.
I don't really want to destroy it.
Let's do it.
Let's go American style.
It's actually like, whoa, my gosh.
Look at that.
It is literally a deep-fried lasagna.
Very lightweight to finish the meal.
Oh.
Mamma mia.
Oh my gosh.
That is the most American Italian thing I've ever had.
That's hilarious.
Well, you know, on a normal lasagna,
the best part is where the cheese crisps off on the top.
It's like they've crisped off all four sides.
It's just one giant lasagna corner.
The marinara sauce is crazy.
Oh, it's unreal.
I mean, see the consistent base.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The whole of the base.
That is like one of the best marinara sauces I've ever tried.
I'll give you guys a bold statement here.
I've never been proven wrong on this yet.
So if anyone's going to do it, it's going to be you guys.
Because you've been around now.
So it is a bit of a challenge for myself.
We're going to bring the meatballs for you next.
And I'm going to say they're probably the best meatballs
you've ever had.
That's a bold statement.
OK.
We'll be back with them.
And I know you've had a few.
I love that.
When was the last time we had meatballs on camera?
Ikea.
Oh, Ikea sets a fairly low bar.
This is either the start or the end of my career.
Oh my gosh, they're the biggest meatballs I've ever seen.
OK, you've started off well.
Already the biggest.
Well, what is that?
What's that in the middle?
So that's a little bit of whipped ricotta.
Whipped ricotta.
Guys, I'm genuinely nervous about this.
Because Ryan has bigged this up.
He said it's the best meatballs we'll ever try.
I personally like you, Ryan.
But I do have a contrarian streak in me.
That's true.
So I'm just going to be completely honest.
I want to hate it.
Because you said it's the best.
Yeah.
Guys.
All right, all right.
Get some whipped ricotta in there.
Well played, Ryan.
Wow.
Well played.
Well done.
That was delicious.
That's top tier.
Shut up, Oli.
That was.
Yeah.
We need to quantify.
Genuinely, I think that's the best meatball I've ever had.
Came for the pizzas and going back with the meatballs.
Yeah, yeah.
There's some spice in there, too.
Just black pepper.
But a lot of it.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Oh, it's amazing.
That's the most British thing I've ever heard.
There's some spice in it.
It's just black pepper.
The best way of describing that, it's
like an entire meal in a mouthful.
It looks like you should have that with spaghetti and maybe
a salad or something.
But there's way too much flavor in there.
It's like a frickin' neutron star of flavor.
Luke is a skeptical here.
Now, I've got you.
I've got you.
It's so soft.
How is it filled?
That's exactly what I thought.
It's so much flavor.
Josh, Josh, try this.
Try it.
That pepper is like the finger first thing you do.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You do.
If you want to, just applaud.
That's right.
Give him some applause.
Well done.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well done.
Is this tiramisu?
Yeah, tiramisu.
But we put Woodford Preserve bourbon in it
instead of Marcello brand.
Oh.
How?
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
All right, guys, to an amazing meal.
An amazing meal.
To Ryan.
To Detroit.
To Ryan.
Oh my god, that's delicious.
What the?
Why did I just?
That tiramisu is divine.
