I found a buffet in Seoul that offers Korean side dishes and a variety of Korean BBQ meat that only cost $9! Even in Korean standards, this is quite unbelievably cheap, so I had to go there and find out if they are actually good.
Today, I'm going to a $9 buffet in Korea with my friend.
And we're gonna show you guys what kind of food they have.
$9? That's barely enough to get a burger these days.
So how good could it be?
Don't miss a second of this video because I'm gonna show you what it's really like.
Or she will.
Hey guys, it's me, Jimmy.
I'm standing in front of a $10 Korean buffet.
It's gonna be authentic Korean food.
And it's kind of unbelievable, but they also have all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue as well.
To enjoy this amazing dinner tonight,
I'm joined by my good friend, Sunjin.
Okay, let's go have some food.
This place is called Jin's Meat Buffet.
And they only cost $9.75 US dollars.
All right, I like the grill setup.
That grill for Korean barbecue.
Do you like Korean barbecue?
All right, then. Let's check out what they got.
Of course, they have white rice and pumpkin porridge.
And let me tell you, as a 100% purebred Korean,
they didn't really have the variety when it comes to the side dishes,
but they seemed extremely clean and fresh.
And these are the side dishes and the dipping sauces that are meant to go with the Korean barbecue.
And of course, the most important part, the meat.
Again, I really appreciate the cleanliness more than anything.
They had like nine different kinds of meat, which isn't that many.
But Korean barbecue is kind of like your friend.
It matters that you have a few that really counts.
Let's get some of that beef belly.
Let's get some pork belly too.
Some of these rice cakes.
So we're going to start with this.
Exciting.
She's getting some side dishes and the dipping sauces.
I think I'm going to get some of that acorn jelly.
In Korean, we call this Dotorimuk.
Seaweed.
Some green onions.
So unlike some of the fancier restaurants, you have to cook your own meat.
But don't worry, it's not that difficult.
So whenever I come to a Korean barbecue, I like to get beef belly.
It's kind of a basic cut of a beef.
I like the simplicity of it, you know?
Can you guys believe that all of this is for $10?
With even the meat included?
2023, can you still get pretty awesome all-you-can-eat buffet for $10?
Oh, of course you can.
So this is a technique called ssam.
You guys probably know about this.
But first, you get lettuce.
You can always find this at a Korean barbecue restaurant.
Put some meat on top of it.
Get some of that sliced green onions.
Adds very nice flavor to it.
Me, I'm going to add some onions as well.
I'm going to get that garlic.
Dip it in the ssamjang sauce, which is a mixture of soybean paste and gochujang.
And what do you do from here?
You wrap it up nicely.
And if I was trying to be extra romantic and extra flirty,
I would give it to Sunjin.
But it's not like that between us.
So I'm going to feed it to myself, okay?
If you guys have a girlfriend, boyfriend, or somebody that you have a crush on,
you've got to try this technique.
Here, here's my ssam for you.
Let me feed it to you.
That type of thing, okay?
Well, I love myself, so I'm going to feed myself here.
You know, there are very few moments in life when I feel proud of being a Korean.
But this, this Korean barbecue makes me feel proud for being Korean.
I haven't forgot about these side dishes as well.
So this is kind of interesting.
This is acorn jelly.
It's very slippery.
It's like happiness to me.
Very, very slippery.
Sometimes you feel like you got a hold of it, but it slips right out.
But that's okay, guys.
You can always pick it back up.
That's pretty solid.
Some seaweed for that fiber.
Okay, I didn't know about that.
I thought it was always like, oh, we're falling in love type of deal.
There's more decency involved in this culture, too.
By the way, doesn't she remind you of a rabbit when she's eating?
No?
Maybe it's just me.
You know, you can make ssam, but you can always enjoy meat as it is.
Or me, personally, I like to just grab the meat with some green onions.
Wow, not me personally, but some people like to do this.
Get a bunch of meat and then dip in the ssamjang.
It's pretty good.
I can see why people do that.
Of course, you got kimchi.
You can have the kimchi with the beef, too.
Wow.
Well, you can also do this very Korean technique.
You can also grill the kimchi.
Sunjin, I think we're sharing too many Korean secrets today.
Now, what I like about this place is that
when you go to a place where they have all-you-can-eat barbecue,
typically their side dishes are like whatever.
You don't really eat those because they're not good.
They got some solid side dishes here.
Not many, but good.
Let's have some of this soybean stew as well.
Oh, what the hell?
He came with a fish head.
Can you guys see him?
Whoa, I'm sorry.
Well, she said I should.
What a blessing to be able to have this kind of food for less than $10.
Usually, I do my own cooking, but on this day,
Sunjin was doing a lot of the cooking for me.
That's a good girl.
This time, I'm going to put some grilled kimchi in there, too.
And I'm going to feed myself.
Yeah.
This is my country.
This is Korea that I love and hate at the same time.
I still haven't got over the fact that Korea forced me to join the military for two years.
But I'm going to do it again.
I'm still upset at Korea for that,
but every time I eat some good Korean barbecue,
it instills some patriotism in me.
Almost as much as listening to BLACKPINK.
Guess what this is.
These are some good noodles.
We got some broth here.
I'm gonna put some kimchi on top.
Seaweed.
And that's, uh, I think that's a soy sauce just for seasoning.
I mean, that noodle looks pretty decent.
Would you guys like to have some?
I got some more meat.
This time, more marinated meat.
Oh, by the way, guys, this is kind of a common sense,
but when you're cooking marinated meat,
you don't want your heat to be, like, too hot.
You should use, like, lower heat.
Because you don't want it to burn, you know?
Pork or beef?
Let's make that bulgogi ssam.
I feel like I'm getting way too much food for $10.
$10 is like a big meal in other countries.
I also got this glass noodle.
They call it japchae here in Korea.
She's a lot younger than me,
But she knows, she really knows how to make that sound
Good job, good job
Oh, by the way
I'm always bringing Sunjin to these affordable places
And I know that some of you guys are dying to see me take her to an expensive dinner
So I made a promise to her that I'll take her to an insanely expensive buffet very soon. So stay tuned for that
By the way guys, I know you guys love all you can eat but please be a decent person try not to have any leftover, okay?
150%
You know how Sunjin's a girl, even at 150% capacity she doesn't want to give up on the desserts
Is that like Baskin Robbins ice cream?
I think this is like the best nine dollars that I've spent in a long time. All right, that was great
Should we get out?
So what did I think? Well, honestly the meat wasn't the highest quality that you could get from a Korean restaurant
But I think they definitely met the standards to be considered an enjoyable Korean barbecue
With everything in this world becoming so expensive
It's just nice to know that there are places where you can still get a belly full of dinner with your friend
Without worrying too much about your credit card statement
The dinner was only $19 for the both of us and I think that's pretty amazing. All right, that was great food
Thank you for joining me today
Oh Jemmy, you always take her to cheap places. I understand guys. I promise
I'll take you to a very expensive hotel buffet
Next time. Okay next time
