"Newton was born prematurely and was not expected to survive. Despite these early challenges, he displayed an extraordinary aptitude for invention and problem-solving from a young age. Newton attended The King's School in Grantham and later went to Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1661. It was at Cambridge that Newton was exposed to advanced scientific texts and developed a profound interest in mathematics, optics, physics, and astronomy.

Mathematics: Newton invented calculus, an achievement that revolutionized mathematics by providing a systematic way to calculate changing quantities. His method of 'fluxions,' as he called it, laid the groundwork for what is today known as differential and integral calculus.

Optics: Newton's work in optics is perhaps best known for his experiments with prisms. He discovered that white light is composed of a spectrum of colors, which can be separated and then recombined into white light, debunking the then-prevailing theory that colors were produced by mixing light with darkness. His book Opticks, published in 1704, elaborated his theories on light and color.

Laws of Motion and Universal Gravitation: Newton's most celebrated achievement is his formulation of the three laws of motion, which have laid the foundation for classical mechanics. These laws describe the relationship between a body and the forces acting upon it, and its motion in response to those forces. In his seminal work Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy), published in 1687, Newton also formulated the law of universal gravitation, stating that every point mass attracts every other point mass in the universe with a force that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.

Later Life and Legacy: Newton held several influential positions, including Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge and Warden and then Master of the Royal Mint. He was knighted by Queen Anne in 1705. His later years were also marked by intense intellectual feuds, most notably with German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, over the priority of calculus development.
