Hello everyone and welcome to Tommy's Reptiles and happy world turtle day!
Here is a juvenile box turtle. I actually filmed this video on May 23rd, which is world turtle day,
but you'll be seeing it on Saturday, which is a couple days later. For today's video,
I'm going to walk you around, show you all my turtles, and give them all something to eat.
A nice little refreshing treat for world turtle day. So since it's world turtle day, I'm going
to give all my turtles special treats that they love. For the aquatic turtles, I'll be giving
them some shrimp, and for the box turtles, I'll be giving them some fresh watermelon.
I'll give you a quick rundown of where I have my outdoor turtles before I feed them.
I still have the aquatic turtles in these horse troughs over here, and then I have the upgraded
box turtle sanctuary I made last week, and then the little juvenile box turtles in here,
but eventually we'll move into this sanctuary. And my next project outside is to get these
turtles a bigger pond. I'm either going to dig one or buy them a giant horse trough that's like
five times the size of these two. First, we'll feed my box turtle some watermelon,
and we'll also add the microphone so you can hear how loud he crunches.
All right, guys, here we go. I'll put it in his food dish. Seems like watermelon doesn't make that
much noise. Let's try something else. Hey, you get back here, buddy. Where do you think you're
going with that? Let's try a piece of romaine lettuce. We turn off the microphone. I'm going
to leave Teacup here with some watermelon and lettuce to enjoy while I go feed the other turtles
for world turtle day. Enjoy your meal, Teacup. Next up is his younger brother,
the juvenile box turtle. You can see he's already waiting for his food. Here you go, buddy.
This is his first time eating watermelon, so hopefully he likes it. Eat up, bud. He doesn't
know what to do with that watermelon. Here, I'll add some of his staple, some aquatic turtle food
right on the mix, and he'll definitely eat this. Trust me. Move him out of the way. Put him back
there. Here he goes. He loves that aquatic turtle food. He's going to take it and run away,
but that's all right, buddy. Go eat in peace. All right, I'll leave you to it. This better be gone
by the time I get back. Now, let's go feed the aquatic turtles. Now, let's feed my female
diamondback terrapin her favorite meal, a nice juicy shrimp. Come on. Come get it. Watch my
fingers. Drag that shrimp down into the depths of the duckweed. That shrimp never had a chance.
Give you guys a closer look. All right, let's put her back in. All right, in the pond right next
door, we have a belize slider and two Mississippi map turtles. They're a little more shy, but we'll
get them to eat. Well, looks like this guy's not hungry, but I'll show you every turtle in this
pond. Rinse off his shell. I'll show you guys. He's had a lot of trouble shedding his scoots, but
he's been basking a lot, so he's looking a lot better. Here's his twin brother. Same size.
Came from the same clutch, but these guys are both super shy. And then I'll show you the third
turtle that lives in this pond. And here's the third turtle that lives in this pond. A belize
slider. He's pretty big and he eats a lot. These guys are very cool and really personable. I'll put
him back in the water so he can go find some shrimp. All right, guys, let's go back in the
reptile room. It's under construction, as you can see. A couple weeks ago, I set up Walter and his
new custom cages enclosure. And next on the list for in here is to get a longer turtle tank for
my dimeback terrapin and fish. Got some little baby frillies right there. The adult frilled
dragons right there. My poison dart frogs. And then over here, my spotted turtle tank.
So let's feed the turtles of this room. All right, so here we have Bungie, my small male
northern dimeback terrapin. Today he'll be eating some aquatic turtle food and also some fish food.
There you go, buddy. You hungry? There he goes. All right, well, it seems like Bungie's not going
to eat that much, but I'll let him swim around and he'll get some food later. And here we have
my 10-gallon spotted turtle tank. Pretty soon I'll be upgrading this turtle to an aquarium,
probably around three times the size of this one. Definitely a lot longer too, so he has more areas
to explore. Today he'll be eating some aquatic turtle food as well. There he goes. Don't let
the fish steal it. Whoop. Better swallow it. It usually takes a couple minutes for these turtle
pellets to soften up before he could fully swallow them. So oftentimes, it takes a few
tries before he can eat it. There you go, buddy. I think you got it this time. Nope. Don't give up
now. Oh, I think you got that one. We really hope that you enjoyed this video and thank you for
watching Tommy's Reptiles.
