Round 1 Highlights | 2025 ISPS HANDA Australian Open

Now I think it's a similar story for Cameron Smith who has won over up through his first four holes from 10 through 13 then did this at the 14th up the hill the little path rate 145 meters or so 15 and we can really attack in the bunker where he drove it splashes out there Lucas Herbert chose to do that here one under through his round trying to keep pace with Cameron Smith who had lit up suddenly pitching on the close range almost holding it for an eagle two 305 off the tee only 167 back here this one's taken off on a great line heading towards the pin maybe touch right it's an aggressive start to the heart of the green up the butt of the tree he's taking his relief here away from the tree gives him a clear shot there's a few overhanging branches there you go that's why he plays on the dp world tour some of our leading players midway through this first round from sarin nakano japanese amateur part of a swing over nakano the short par 4 6 30 chance and he got the memo beautifully done just off the bottom of the ridge this is a big funnel down here just this little part of the green is a bowl he should move from his left to right good speed such a danger man if the putting matches the ball striking look out early this morning cameron smith one of the early players out second night here having started at the 10th casual water in play we're playing preferred lies out of the bunker wedge game sharp and surprisingly albert smiley who was three over through seven holes early this was for his fourth birdie in a row from the eighth onwards it's on to put him to two under for the day which is where he would finish mark leishman was steady eddie out there today while those around him were a little bit more topsy-turvy this is second at the fifth mark four pin all the way up the back not far from there one of the more difficult par fours that victoria golf club is the sixth amongst the leaves on the fairway good look at the length of this green big slope from back to front at six pin today on the right hand side stunning shot from lucas herbert lucas herbert for eagle at nine i am bombing the ball here towards the clubhouse and what a way to finish go to the short path for third down the left hand side here good look at this pin for save for four up here only coming in from 108 here these greens are soft as we've seen with shot in here but a tricky pin that's for sure way back never seen this pin either jump back to neiman good look here at this second shot ball yeah this one hoisted way trying to get it all the way back it's a dangerous pin 108 straight down breeze pin doesn't even look like it's on the left hand side but it's 99 and four from the left standing back in the middle of this fairway it just looks really narrow this green just check out of the uh the lower part of the dip had any water in it it's up and racing pin today is almost on the high point over on that left hand side down with jordan smith tucked up in the back right today neiman only 86 meters that's how far he's hit it up here straight back into the breeze the screen sets that back to front and i won't be all that happy with it these guys like to hit him into a foot from that distance kim as we head to the green here jordan smith this for a three not much movement in it oh he's poured another one in from range 3 8th and nathan page right at the flag of the back edge of this green another edgy pin on day one here 20 feet right to use the slope to spin it back in the hole this one coming in pretty flat that's a great shot 72 mac straight back into this breeze and he's just seen jordan thompson's come down soft and spin this one just longer well a little bit of zip if you do not mind well some of the players lamenting the soft nature of the conditions out there in both courses today but they are conducive to attacking golf and we are seeing that a plenty at the moment he was unhappy about that approach shot on the previous hole and i'm sure he'll be equally disappointed with that notwithstanding only 90 meters here matt let's keep it lower than the bridge it's actually going over that bridge and through the trees straight at it there's nothing boring about jordan smith's golf so far today darius van driel of the netherlands he's approached shot to six one under through five so far and we can only lock him in obviously uh as um passionate about you know making sport accessible to as many people as possible and australian open that has men's women's and all abilities all together sort of fits right in his slide of what he's uh passionate about and to help out there is awesome this needs to be just past the hole about five feet and five feet left of it there's one coming in low and it's nicely done by the englishman this is a monstrous par four near the clubhouse neiman has absolutely smashed one down here 135 to this pin he can actually move it right to left and get it all the way back to this pin that would look good from where he's standing come up a little short still got a good look at birdie there let it trundle down unlucky that just sort of stuck him on in there a little bit but not bad van driel chipping from the fringe do it yes great touch slingshot once it gets up and over it almost at right angles that has the right pace he's back at the 10th see if he can access the uh little right bowl oh can he ever tied eighth at the australian pga 68th speaking of live here's jake neiman only 72 meters back into this breeze he can throw it all the way back not quite i'm not happy with that at all that's gonna be tough for gary's caddy he's gonna have to clean both sides of the club now there's a ridge he's got to get over the top of that he's certainly got enough on it needs to come down he's certainly done that that's gonna get past the pin he's just carried a little too far there's a ridge behind the bundle with her second eventually costs her a shot neiman here much better fist and gets that to pin high should it be just a tap in there for his three the 18th here at kingston heath victorian cameron john athletic tour youngster a couple over today this would help though there you go nicely done care this one is to the right he's given it he's been very safe here sort of caught the invisible ladder then and just climbed jordan smith from long range yeah coming up over this ridge left to right it should sling it down to the hole he's got hold of this again oh wow wow indeed what a putt by jordan smith fifth birdie of the day but he's thrown into bogeys with it he's to wonder get back to the action james marcosani down there 18 out of rosebud golf club from the mornington peninsula what a shoddy place very nice jumps you take a look at some highlights here he was out off the 10th see him in action tomorrow afternoon round two at kingston heath with the 13 up and over the hill there what a shot to watch another dp world tour video click here and to subscribe click here
