You're moving, I keep reading in the papers.
I know, this is world news.
This is big news.
You're moving.
Richard Gere is saying adios to Hollywood.
During his November 20th appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the Runaway
Bride star shares his plans to move abroad.
You're moving, I keep reading in the papers.
I know, this is world news.
This is big news.
You're moving.
This is big news.
You're moving to Spain.
You're leaving.
My wife is Spanish.
Oh.
Is this a problem for anybody out there?
No, no, we were going to miss you, but I'm sure you'll be back.
No, of course I'll be back.
My wife is Spanish and she gave me about seven years here.
And so we're going to spend some years in Madrid.
Richard married his wife, Spanish activist Alejandra Silva, in 2018 after four years
of dating.
With the couple now sharing sons, five-year-old Alexander and four-year-old James, both of
whom the actor says are going to have a pretty easy transition to living in Spain.
Our kids are bilingual, so they're going to flourish there.
Oh, that's great.
Are you bilingual as well?
Oh, it's perfect.
I speak 15 languages perfectly.
I don't want to hurt you by doing it right now.
And while Richard says he will still be coming back to Hollywood every now and then for work,
he's ready to embrace his new life and spend quality time with extended family.
No, my wife has...
She grew up in a very big Spanish family, like a big Italian family, big Spanish family.
And her grandmother was kind of the glue that held that all together.
And the grandmother passed away about a year and a half ago, two years ago.
So my wife, I can see her morphing into the new grandmother of this extended family.
So she's already planning for 35 people for Sunday lunches.
Ah, good.
That's all about family.
Yes, it is.
Earlier this year, the Pretty Woman star gave more insight into how he's feeling leading
up to the big move overseas, telling Vanity Fair Spain in April,
For me, going to Madrid is going to be a great adventure because I've never lived full-time
outside the United States, the 75-year-old continued.
And I think it will be very interesting for my children as well.
For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends,
and her culture.
