SHOCKING Moments In The NFL!

These are the most shocking moments so far from the 2024 NFL season, and the first one came when
the Atlanta Falcons completely shocked the football world with who they picked in the NFL draft.
After signing QB Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal, many fans thought Atlanta would use their
first-round pick on a defensive player, but what they did instead completely shocked everyone.
The Falcons drafted Michael Penix Jr with their first-round pick, a move that no one saw coming.
Not only was Penix not projected to go in the top 10, but to also go to a team that had just
signed a QB to a massive contract was certainly a surprise to everyone. But we also saw one of
the most shocking endings to an NFL game on the very first day of the season. The season kicked
off with two of the best teams and two of the best quarterbacks facing off against each other,
reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens versus back-to-back Super Bowl MVP Patrick
Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. And just like their previous matchups, this one was another
classic. Down by seven with less than two minutes left, Jackson was tasked with leading the Ravens
on a game-tying drive. And after hitting Rashad Bateman to put the Ravens in the red zone,
they would get two more chances to put the ball in the end zone to tie the game. On their first
attempt, the reigning MVP stepped up to throw to a wide open Zay Flowers, but missed behind him.
So with five seconds left and the game on the line, we saw one of the craziest endings ever.
Jackson was able to use his magic scrambling abilities to extend the play, make an amazing
throw to Isaiah Likely, who got two feet inbounds to score the touchdown and were about to go for
two to win the game. Or so we thought, because after replay review, it was found that Likely's
big toe just landed out of bounds, resulting in the touchdown being taken away and the Chiefs
winning the season opener. It's quite possibly the craziest NFL season premiere we will ever see.
But just a few days later, we saw this former undrafted free agent have not only one of the
best games of his career, but also one of the best performances on the year. Right before the 49ers
season kicked off on Monday Night Football, everyone was shocked by the news that their
star running back, Christian McCaffrey, would be inactive for the game. This means that third year
former undrafted free agent Jordan Mason would be the main man for the defending NFC champions.
And let's just say, everyone would find out who he was after the game was over. Mason would put
on a show, having multiple big runs, using his strength to show off his power back abilities,
and just completely dismantled a tough Jets defense. He went for a total of 147 yards and
one touchdown, which is still in the top 10 for most rushing yards in a game this season.
But was that more shocking than arguably the greatest QB stat line of all time? In week 4
on Monday Night Football, the Detroit Lions were faced with their toughest challenge yet,
taking on the 3-0 Seattle Seahawks, whose defense was allowing just 14.3 points per game coming into
the match. So what did Jared Goff and the Lions do? Put up a historic showing, of course. The
Lions QB put on literally a perfect performance. He completed all 18 of his passes for almost 300
yards and two passing touchdowns. The 100% completion percentage on 18 pass attempts
is the most in a game in NFL history. But Goff wasn't done just yet, because he and Dan Campbell
had another trick up their sleeve. Yeah, you saw that correctly. Jared Goff caught a touchdown pass
in addition to not having a single incompletion. The Lions won that game 42-29 and have continued
to crush teams since. But this next shocking moment came when a rookie broke a nearly 40-year-old
record this season. Meet Brock Bowers. The Raiders first round pick has been sensational this year,
and his most recent performance was legendary. While taking on the Dolphins, the biggest pass
catcher went off for 126 yards on 13 catches, breaking the rookie tight end record for most
receptions in a game, which had been around for almost 40 years. But his performance now
puts him on pace to break the single-season rookie record for both catches and yards,
set just last year by Puka Nakua. But was that more shocking than when a backup quarterback came
off the bench and upset one of the best teams in the NFL this season? The Browns were off to a very
poor start. Going into Week 7, they were 1-5 and had yet to score 20 or more points in a game.
Then during their Week 7 matchup, their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson,
went down with a torn Achilles, ending his season. This means that their Week 8 game against the
Ravens would be quarterbacked by Jameis Winston. And what do you do against one of the NFL's best?
Balled out, of course. Winston played fantastic. He had 334 yards and 3 touchdowns,
including this game-winning missile of a touchdown pass with less than a minute left.
The Browns scored 29 points and got their second win of the season all off the arm of their QB2.
However, I don't think that was more crazy than when we had impossible endings in back-to-back
weeks. In the Week 10 matchup between the Broncos and Chiefs, Denver had their rival on the ropes,
ready to hand them their first loss on the season. But when the Broncos went to kick the
game-winning field goal, the unthinkable happened. Kansas City was able to block that kick,
winning the game, and saving their perfect season. But there's no way that would happen again,
right? Well, just one week later, the Packers and Bears were separated by one point,
with Caleb Williams trying to lead the team on a game-winning drive. After a couple of excellent
plays, Chicago was in field goal range and was getting ready to attempt the game-winning kick.
But just like last week, craziness happened, as the Packers were able to block the game-winning
field goal and secure the dub. Unfortunately for Caleb, that was only the second most shocking
ending he has been a part of this year. Because the most shocking moment of the NFL season came
when he and Jaden Daniels squared off in a battle of the first and second overall picks.
And following a go-ahead touchdown with less than 30 seconds left to give the Bears the lead,
it seemed like Caleb Williams was going to win the battle. Until Jaden Daniels and the
pulled off the most shocking moment so far of the NFL season.
