this is a call from the
ancestors to sail to new skies and
reconnect our people across the entire
ocean animation needs music to move it
along and in Moana 2 it's Abigail Barlo
and Emily bear Who provided they started
out on Tik Tok now they're the first
female composers of a Disney animated
film I wanted to talk to them about the
music of course but first I wanted to
find out how it all started we started
about 2 and a half years ago two and a
half years MH so it's been a long time
coming it's feels like a long time but
also 3 seconds I don't know it's crazy
they're in the process of making
something and in the the animation
process is so long and detailed it's
tedious yeah even watching it happen for
the last two and a half years I don't
know how anything gets made it's crazy
it it's pixie D they developed all new
technology this about this one talk
about the beauty of the visuals just to
get your feeling for we saw it for the
first time with lighting and like all of
the animation fully finished a couple
days ago on my birthday and it was the
best birthday present ever because I've
never seen animation quite like yeah
this it's honestly a lot of the STS look
like Photo like that's how detailed it
is they look like photographs it's
insane the beauty of the animation what
didn't you want to do with your music
that's a good question I I think we
wanted to avoid stopping dropping and
singing like at that point why why are
we singing we have to have a reason to
sing because words aren't
[Music]
enough all of our characters that we met
in the first film have evolved and grown
the world is a lot bigger the characters
are a lot bigger and we wanted to show
that in the music I'm really excited for
people to see the final product how's it
feel to have people respond to your
songs it's wonderful it's wonderful it's
terrifying it's all the things you know
because we've spent so long with it
living inside a small group of people
and kind of like allowing it to fly away
and take on a life of its own is
terrifying well if you've written a
comedy it's easy to tell if something
that you've done has worked the place
fills with laughter right in drama if
you see people tearing up
it worked how do you know something has
worked as you're watching an audience
Goosebumps Goosebumps yep if we give
people Goosebumps with a song If we make
them feel something it emotes in their
body and their body has a physical
response you can tell you can tell you
can feel it you can tell also they tell
us thank you both very much I appreciate
your time thank you Patrick flicks with
