Finally a win and a fortnight of feasts on the feel-good factor of the first three points of
the season. Rawls' first game after the final international break of 2024, a trip to high
flying Fulham. The home side sits seventh, just a point off third, inspired mainly by the form of a
former Old Gold hero. Raúl Jiménez has scored four and assisted two in his last eight matches.
The Mexican a sensation again. It's further south in the Americas for Wolves current hero
Brazilian Matheus Cunha has been involved in 23 goals in his last 28 league starts.
Only Erling Haaland has scored more away from home since the start of last season. Throw in
Adama Traore who actually scored the winner the last time Wolves won here in 2021 and this curious
clash at Craven Cottage becomes an intriguing battle of Wolves past versus Wolves present.
Clipped in towards the edge of the six yard box, flicked on but well wide of the far post by Raúl
Jiménez. Trying to drive forwards here, Jean Gómez up towards the corner of the box and shooting and
parried down by Bernd Leno before he grabbed it. Smith Rowe up towards the edge of the box to his
left hand side to Rhys Nelson just inside the penalty area going past Zermelo firing across
in and Ait Nuri turning it behind for the Fulham corner. Yeah good defending good positioning from
Ait Nuri but as I said to you Nelson down this left hand side is going to be tricky for now for Zermelo.
Anthony Robinson on the Fulham left about 30 yards from goal infield to Smith Rowe for Nelson
trapped by Zermelo all the way he manages to get it on to Robinson though. Robinson's low
cross off the post from Jiménez but not only five yards out or so Wolves incredibly fortunate
not to be behind. Fulham have got themselves a free kick midway inside the half Mateus Cunhas
raging that he wasn't allowed to continue on. Well he's given the free kick to Fulham that's why
just watching that replay again just got caught ball watching Belgarde.
Oh how has he not scored? What a miss. Manages to get loose of Totti. Yeah well there's three
players in there and he's on his own. Wolves going to keep chasing as it goes to Lamina
back to Ait Nuri. Ait Nuri trying to turn Lukic but Lukic steals it Fulham have the players over
it's Rhys Nelson left hand side of the box he's crossing towards Jiménez just too much for him
and back comes Rodrigo Gómez can't quite get it clear though
Owovi heads the area curling effort scoring left footed 20 yards out curling beyond the
despairing time of Jose Sarr. Wolves escape the big let off a moment or so ago
no such luck this time punished for not clearing their lines Fulham 1 Wolves 0. Yeah Ait Nuri
caught in possession in the central area said to you at the beginning of the game you can't
afford to be caught in areas like that. André pretty much on the center spot finds Lamina
trying to stand it forwards for the run of Kunja what a ball Kunja brings it down and Kunja scores
a beauty what a magnificent goal from Wolves the pass by Mario Lamina is magical and it's
brought down by Mateusz Kunja he's still got a lot to do but he manages to flick it past
Bernd Leno and Wolves are back on level terms with a sensational goal. Oh it's all about the
pass isn't it I know he's done a great run there Kunja just off the shoulder who's been able to
deliver that pass Lamina I'll tell you what it's a great first touch and his second touch is in the
net but great ball first touch all about the first touch keepers coming out he waits for Leno
doesn't he yeah and then has the wherewithal with the outside of the boot to just nonchalantly
flick it past him. Oh great finish it's a great finish big central defender clears Totti
head of Jimenez Belcard midway inside the Fulham half out to the Wolves left finding Ait Nuri
back in field to Belcard trying to feed it through to Kunja now here's Shal Gomes
Wolves lead in the cottage
Belcard's pass to Kunja and it's a delightful reverse through ball and
Shal Gomes took it with one touch and fired it low past the keeper with a second
he likes scoring in London two goals almost a year ago that won the game at Tottenham
has Shal Gomes just done it again in the capital yeah great play great little reverse ball from
Kunja but what's all about the finish on his weaker side as well his left foot Gomes
Shal Gomes that is I should say it's a great finish it's a great finish the pace and the
Robinson down the Fulham left low cross in and turned behind by Ait Nuri
Jimenez and Iwobi were closing in it's all about his position it's all about his positioning
he's not let Iwobi get in front of him Ait Nuri that is it's all about getting there
here's Kunja with intersection running past Anderson it's the penalty area Mateus Kunja
it's a corner must have been a side because they'll give a corner but that's one thing that
you can't give Kunja short pass oh intercepted past Anderson the pressure from Anderson and
Bassi there and I think does it come off Bassi in the end I think Bassi kicks it out just get
it stuck under his feet a little bit didn't he yeah Bassi kicks it out Wilson heads the
penalty area allowed to shoot and his shot clips the top of the crossbar from almost an identical
position from where Iwobi scored in the first half Wolves haven't learned that lesson in
closing down that particular opportunity they were nearly punished again no we've got to get
out quickly to him you can't allow him just come the time Ait Nuri got caught between the two
Kearney backwards to Bassi all the way back to Leno Larson's not giving it up
Rodrigo going to try and chase down Castagne it's too far off him Wolves do win it back Ait Nuri
good flick around the corner from Rodrigo Chao Gomez left hand side of the penalty area oh he
was trying to bend it towards the far post and he didn't quite get enough curl on it I don't know if
he's going for goal or trying to pass to Larson I think he's caught in between there oh if he
drives forwards he can have a shot himself Robinson having to go deep into his own half
to collect it and tries to stand it up towards Wilson Totti wins the physical battle nice little
flick from Chao Gomez Mateus Cunha now Chao Gomez again onto Cunha sweeping it oh my word Mateus
Cunha with an unbelievable curling effort into the top corner Wolves have got themselves a
cushion he's the long way for an away win finally coming to an end Wolves are on the verge of back
to back victories given to them by the magic of Mateus Cunha his first goal in the game got them
wow
talk about the quality what he's got and he's just done it as if like he's just playing on the park
isn't he just first time oh keeper no chance keeper didn't even put his arms up
just watching that again good brilliant strength oh what a finish what a finish
there's some talent isn't it some talent in front of goal but he just makes it look so easy
I hope he's going to be allowed to drift infield fine Wilson interception by Lamina Lamina wants
to set off here it's not settling for 3-1 he's found Larson and Huang and Nuri are racing up
with him as well and it's on to the right hand side of the box and it's Gonzalo Guedes game over
Gonzalo Guedes finds the bottom corner Wolves are winning away for the first time since February
back to back Premier League victories two special moments for those of the old gold persuasion
it's been a tough start to the season they've had to wait a long time to see the team play in this
manner Gonzalo Guedes has had to wait a long time for a Premier League goal it's all coming now
what a great finish as well good counter that Lamina driving out
from Guedes I think this is my opinion I think that he's definitely gone bare
Guedes I think I know he has his loan spell last year away but I think since he's come back to the
club he looks like he's got something about him and I've been impressed with the way that he plays
the way that he puts himself about he deserves a goal we're getting giddy it's been such a long
to wait seen as we're in the capital it's like London buses you wait all that time for one win
two come along almost at once either side of the international break having beaten Southampton
and being injury and illness hit coming into this game with Fulham only one recognized central
defender in the starting lineup they even found themselves behind when Alex Iwobi curled the ball
in after 20 minutes of the game but a brace from Matheus Cunha either side of a wonderful low
finish from João Gomes that Cunha had set up and laid on the play and then a late goal for Gonzalo
Guedes has lifted some of the dark clouds that have been above walls of late a wonderful 4-1 victory
on the road and a way win for the first time since February Fulham 1, Wolves 4
