Hola! Bienvenidos! Welcome to beautiful San Miguel de Allende!
Buenos dias. Good morning Country Collectors! Today we are coming to you from El Corazón de México.
The Heart of Mexico, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato!
In 2021 this colonial city topped travel and leisure's list of 25 best cities in the world.
We can't wait to show you around before we get started make sure to hit that subscribe button and ring the bell.
So you don't miss out on any of our future adventures! First things first let's check out where we're staying!
We found this nice apartment on airbnb for $42 dollars a night.
As you can see it has a large kitchen and dining room.
I just love all the natural light it gets all day long.
Through the hallway here is the bedroom which is equipped with a tv, vanity and a nice comfortable bed.
But what I love most is the bathroom setup. I've spent a couple nights submerged in that bath and boy was it nice!
Alright it's time to slip on our shoes, hit the streets and get some breakfast. Come with us!
Since being in San Miguel we have noticed that this city is a playground for foodies.
So make sure to bring your appetites! You know I did!
We went to this place that was so nice the other day and we want to take you there so come with us.
Here's your first peek at the city here you can notice these colors and these beautiful doors.
You will find this all over!
One of our favorite things to do around town is go cafe hopping.
Right here is Inside Cafe let's head up and grab some breakfast!
Welcome to Inside Cafe even though we are outside. This place has three different levels.
They have one inside and then they have two that are on terraces. We are on the top level right here, and we just got our food!
Our wonderful waiter Ernesto gave us some great recommendations so I went with the Sexy Mexican Breakfast.
You ordered me for breakfast? You're not Mexican!
This is gluten free and it comes with chorizo, eggs, tomatoes, avocado, onions and much more!
And Adam went with...
The 24 hour mesquite smoked pulled pork grilled cheese bagel sandwich!
This place is actually known for having one of the best grilled cheeses in the world. They even have a board downstairs to prove it.
I also got a very special drink it is a pink chai latte they use some betabel or beets to give it that pink.
Let's taste it out!
Oh that chai is un- BEET- able!
Now let's jump into this grilled cheese!
It even comes with this delicious horseradish mayo. Wow!
This is definitely a breakfast made for Adam.
Man look at that cheese! WOW! Can you handle it? Oh you know I can handle it!
wow
That mesquite is utter perfection. The cheese is that perfect melty. The bagel perfectly toasted. Man.
I am loving this!
That's a winner?
Put me down for number 928 for best grilled cheese in the world!
What I love about this dish is the vibrancy. Look at all these colors here. Wow what a bite! I know!
Look at that, let's give it a try!
Mmmm
Very fresh.
You can tell it's been made with love.
That wonderfully hearty breakfast came out to 440 pesos and don't forget to tip your server.
When I mentioned we came here the other day we actually came for this menu but to our surprise
their kitchen changes into an Asian restaurant at 4pm. It's called Xam Xam and the food was
honestly some of the best we have had in this entire city. So we definitely recommend coming
and checking it out. All right well now that we're fueled up let's head to the city center!
Let's make it official!
Country Collectors number 928. Best grilled cheese in the world!
Gracias Ernesto. Gracias, hasta pronto! (see you soon)
This one is for all of our bookworms.
Right across from the Inside Cafe you will find La Biblioteca Publica.
This is the public library here in San Miguel.
This is the largest privately funded, publicly accessible library in Mexico with the second largest english-language book collection.
The library also has a cafe inside and prints a bilingual newspaper which is a great place to get some up-to-date information
about the happenings in town.
What a great stop. I hope I don't need a library card to check you out because you have cute written all over you!
Aww
We popped over here to be in the sun because we are up at 6,000 feet which means it can get a
little chilly in the early mornings and evenings so make sure to bring yourself something warm to wear.
Wow this view gets me every time. Right behind us here is el Jardin Allende.
This is the main plaza in San Miguel and I'm sure you can see this building
right here the parish church. We will get to that in just a moment.
This plaza is the beating heart of the city.
It acts as a center for social activity in San Miguel.
What I especially love is all the seating that is available and the shade from the trees which looks so cool from up above.
It's a wonderful place to come down and take a break, listen to some live music and appreciate the majestic
Parroquia de San Miguel Archangel.
Wow my breath is taken away every time I see this church.
I feel like I'm being teleported back to Barcelona and the first time we saw Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia. Can you see the resemblance?
This church is one of the most photographed in Mexico and I'm sure you can see why.
Make sure to also head inside to appreciate the many details of this town's most iconic site.
And if you think it's pretty now, come back at night. It's all lit up. It's a real treat!
Beside the principal cathedral you will find El Museo Historico de San Miguel de Allende, also known as Casa Allende.
This was the home of Ignacio Allende, another principal figure in the early part of the Mexican War of Independence.
If you want to learn some regional history this is the place. Now let's keep going!
Surrounding the square there are some really nice looking restaurants as
well as some street vendors if you need a snack.
If you appreciate art San Miguel is the place for you!
There are many shops, markets and galleries all over the city to pop into and appreciate the work
but something you won't find in the center is street art.
And that's because of its UNESCO World Heritage distinction which comes with many restrictions and rules that must be followed.
But luckily in the nearby area of Guadalupe there is some lovely stuff. It's about a 10 minute walk
from the center, let's go check it out!
Wow this door is 255 years old and it is absolutely magnificent.
Look at these details. Stunning!
And then something we always love to do is to peek into the buildings here. A lot of them go pretty far back
and there's always something nice to be found.
And if you like shopping there is no shortage of boutiques here so pack light save some room in that suitcase because
there's a lot of nice stuff!
And remember the sidewalks here are very narrow so make sure to give way to elderly people and people with children.
They also have some other great rules here like no honking of horns and pedestrians always have the right
of way. So not only is this a beautiful city but it's a really friendly one too.
We are just north of the city center in Colonia Guadalupe and as you can see
there's that blue, pink and purple we did not find there because this barrio (neighborhood) right here
this isn't a part of that UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Oh my gosh you can see the street art starting and look at that!
Wow this is an incredibly beautiful door here surrounded by that bougainvillea.
Hola!
And I think we just got two new subscribers right there. They just asked for our channel. I love that!
Right around the corner from that door it looks like Adam has found something. This is my kind of garden, maintenance free!
And it even comes with some hummingbirds.
Oh wow check out that tile work that's really pretty!
It seems like down here there's a lot more character because they have that freedom of expression.
That's why I fit in because I'm a character. Yeah we all know that!
I just love these flower arches over the doors and it looks like Adam found some more paintings down here.
This one here is so cool it has that very powerful kind of feeling to it with that
blurred background that pushes her forward.
And it looks like we found the jackpot here. Around this corner there they all are! Right down here. Let's go check them out!
Oh I really like this one with the mariposa (butterlfy) and then look right here it's lucha libre! That's awesome!
Oh look at these ones. These are so nice as well. If you're a fan of art definitely come down here!
I feel like this one right here is my favorite. Looking into her eyes you can feel her emotion.
It has a lot of marine life in it as well.
It's definitely my second favorite one. I say second favorite because this one over here is blowing my mind.
Oh this is cool and I can totally see why it's your favorite. Are you having some hair envy?
I am! What a beautiful way of putting nature and this art together.
It's, that's really spectacular!
And down in the description of the video I will put a map of all of our stops today so when you come here you can follow along!
And look what Adam found!
It's one of them new Yam-he-haws!
We showed this to my dad the other day, I sent it to him online and he said that is one donkey power!
Like horsepower, that's funny. Heidi's dad is the king of dad jokes! Yes!
What a cool neighborhood. We came down here the other day and we didn't see half as much as we did today
because you were here with us.
Why don't you leave us a little comment down below and let us know what your favorite piece of street art was.
Let's keep going!
And when you come down here make sure to bring your appetite they do have some nice restaurants, bars and bakeries.
And if you want to dive even deeper into the art scene here we recommend going over to Fabrica la Aurora.
It is right down the street from Guadalupe.
Up until 1991 it was a textile mill but now has become a vibrant collective of galleries showcasing
jewelry, paintings, sculptures and much more!
Excuse me Mr. Adam?
Lo siento!
That was so much fun touring around this neighborhood.
But let's head back into town to a place where we can really release our inner child! Come with us!
While you're walking around the town make sure to keep your eyes open for the Artisan Markets.
They are everywhere like this one right across the street. Let's go check it out!
But look both ways before you cross the street so you don't get hit by a car. We care about you!
Wow and look at this. Right down the steps here they have these beautiful purses made from pop
can tabs. Those are so cool! I know some of you are probably thinking she says pop, yes we say that
in Michigan. Do you call it pop or soda? Let us know in the comments below. But yeah look at that. I feel
like in high school I had a belt like this or I had a friend who had a belt made out of the tabs.
Very cool! They make them all right here at Imaginearte. It's absolutely stunning.
She said these these pieces take days to make.
All handcrafted, beautiful stuff.
There's a ton of little shops you can pop into get some handcrafted goods from the natives here.
Some handcrafted bikinis. Yeah oh that's nice. That is really nice!
Crocheted. To go with your piglet purse!
I like this place. That'd look great on you. Thank you, thank you. Again they went in my wardrobe!
That was a nice little stop, but let's keep going!
It seems like every corner we turn around is another gorgeous church or building like this one right here.
And this just may be the most impressive thing we've seen all day!
We hope you're ready to release your inner child because we are here at La Esquina which is the toy museum.
I've heard they have over a thousand different toys from all regions of Mexico. It cost 50 pesos so let's head in.
They have a few rooms in here where you can see these collections of toys.
Over here it looks like these ones are all made from wicker and then in the back they're all made from carved wood.
Let's not overlook the coolest part. The Lucha Libre giant wooden dolls! He's dropping the flying elbow perpetually!
I love that!
Adam this room is for you. This is the scary doll room.
No there are no scary dolls here!
This room we're in right now is called the fair. You can see that merry-go-round and over here are a bunch of ferris wheels.
Check these puppies out!
This is the perfect place for a heist. You steal, you jump out the window and you land in the mattress truck waiting outside!
And it just keeps going and going. We definitely recommend popping in here when you are in San Miguel.
Wow this was really cool not only do these toys look like fun but they also represent the history of Mexico and they're all handmade.
This was great but I am getting hungry. We heard of a restaurant down the road that does specials on Tuesdays.
I know you're thinking, Adam we know about Taco Tuesdays well this isn't taco Tuesday!
This is two for one Tostada Tuesdays so let's go grab something to eat!
Wow!
I think someone stole my hand to model this. That's one heck of a doorknocker! That is one heck of a door knocker.
Want to ding-knock-ditch? Check out the knockers on this one!
And it looks like we made it. This is called El Manantial. Let's follow Adam in and get something good to eat!
Oh look at these doors! Well what are you waiting for? Let's go I'm hungry!
Wow upon entering I wasn't expecting this!
It's very nice and cozy in here.
Definitely kind of has like a little hipster vibe.
The music was great but unfortunately a little bit loud so we weren't able to film inside.
We chose four different tosadas. They were chipotle shrimp, sweet and sour salmon, tuna especial, and bay scallops.
Our favorite was the shrimp and the salmon.
The total bill was 240 pesos. We definitely recommend when you're in town to pop in here on a Tuesday and check out this special!
That was delicious, but it's time to walk off those tostadas.
Right around the corner is this alley that heads up to the best view in town. Come with us to the mirador!
And it's short but it's pretty steep so take your time.
Definitely a leg burner!
Oh look at that tree growing right out of there!
You'll see that a lot around here!
And we've made it! That only took about five minutes.
We're gonna turn right here and go find this mirador.
And it looks like it is right around this corner here.
Wow check out this view! It is absolutely stunning.
You can see that church we took you to earlier this morning.
You have got to come up here. Make the time. Whatever time of the day it is. If you can't walk, take a taxi, a bus or an uber.
Just get up here so you can enjoy this!
While this view is great if you're looking for a more adventurous view boy do we have the activity for you.
The other day we got to do something really special. So strap on those helmets and tighten those shoelaces because we're going...
Ziplining baby!
We're here at San Miguel Parque de Aventura
Which is an adventure park located just outside the city center.
And if ziplining isn't your thing they have a lot of other fun activities as well like
horseback riding, atving, a ride in a hot air balloon and hiking!
It's 800 pesos or about $40 USD dollars.
Now let's go have a zippity-doo-da day!
From the office we hopped in a truck and it took about 15 minutes to get out here. Right here you can see the first zip line.
A few people already went over. It goes over this canyon.
It looks insane. I believe it's 150 meters high! Wow!
I'm excited but I am a little nervous.
All right we are strapping in here. Here we go!
Oh my gosh! Woah look at this!
WOOOO!
Keep it coming, keep it coming!
Wow going over that canyon! Geez!
Yeah, how was that?
Adrenaline rush!
Wow as you saw that was incredible.
And we have six more to do!
Here he goes! Wahoo, yeah baby!
Ah-OOOO!
Oh here comes Adam!
You can hear him screaming!
Woo! Good job babe.
Adam what'd you think? I think that was so much fun! The view was incredible. It was a way higher than I thought.
And you know we always like to take the scenic route.
Remember collect experiences not things people! This is what is going to make your life better. It's so true!
She's making sure I'm secured in here. Here we go! Ready? Yes. Lift your feet! WOOO!
WOOO! Unreal check that out!
Have any of you guys ever zip lined? Let us know what you thought about it in the comments below.
If you liked it or it just wasn't your cup of tea.
Looks like we are hiking up to the next one here.
There are seven zip lines that we are doing today.
You can do the smaller package which just has three but yeah we're doing them all baby!
Remember the couple that zips together sticks together!
Wow! We're going together. I don't know about this but Adam better break for us.
I've never been good at stopping!
Okay. All right ready? Yeah! Woo!
We love you!
I don't think I'll ever not have that feeling even if I did it hundreds and hundreds of times. Wow!
Right now we are heading over to the suspension bridge it looks awesome come with us!
Wow look at this suspension bridge.
It's really moving!
All right you guys here we go!
You can see it is swinging quite a little bit. Wow!
Oh!
What would you choose to do if you were here zip lines or bridge? What do you think you'd like better?
Wow this is really moving!
Are you ready Adam?
You better hold on!
I better put this thing around my wrist.
Yeah you don't want to lose that!
Well I'm so glad that we're strapped in right over here because as you can see
this is quite wobbly and it's also very windy today.
Oh it is!
Oh wait who's shaking the bridge?
Ope that's me! Stop! He's always rocking something! That's right!
Whoa!
They're messing with us!
Wow this is definitely a ride!
Holy crap!
I need some water. I'm gonna need a drink after this!
And we made it, we survived!
It's okay?
Yeah it was great!
Thanks for the rocking!
Whoa!
So in this line we're gonna have to jump!
Jump babe jump!
Yeah babe!
WOO!
Survived that jump!
That was fun!
Here goes Adam. He's walking down.
Viva Mexico!
Whoa!
How was that jump? I may have jumped a little bit too hard.
I kind of hit my arm on the... Oh no! You got some burn there. You know what chicks dig scars! Yeah we do!
We're about to take our last ride and it's been so quick but you know what they say...
Time flies when you're zipping!
Time zips by when you're flying!
No one's ever said that!
And I just want to give a big thank you to Elizabeth here for...
my safety. Without her who knows where I'd be right now!
Ready? Yes I'm ready. All right here we go!
Woo hoo we did it and look at the end here you get some agua.
Yes good job! We did it!
Check this out they do a special picture if you'd like it.
As Spiderman!
Something man!
Adam your face is so red.
Hanging upside down like Spiderman. I think I need a nap. I don't know how Spiderman does this all day!
Man that was so much fun it took my breath away. Yeah Adam's a bit tired here.
We definitely recommend when you come to San Miguel to come do the ziplining.
It was amazing. And a great way to see some local nature. Let's head back to town!
WooHoo!
Man that was fun! And now that our feet are back on the ground we want to dedicate that
to our newest patrons. Matt, Marla, Susan and Kathleen!
We cannot thank you enough from the bottom of our hearts you help to make this channel possible, muchas gracias.
We love having you a part of our growing community and if you want to join it we will put the link
in the description below.
Now let's head down to town and see what else we can find. Come with us!
It's just beautiful and as you can see we are going down down. You need to be careful!
Parkour baby!
Parkour.
You're gonna break something!
And it is really true around every corner there is something else magical to be found.
To the far south of the historical center you'll find this very special place, Parque Benito Juarez.
Let's go take a look around.
How nice is this? It has these walking paths through this amazing lush greenery.
In the evenings you can come down here and watch or play some basketball with the locals.
And while your kids enjoy the playground you can grab a snack from one of the vendors.
It feels like a lot more of a local spot down here and we really enjoy it.
It really feels like you're out in nature here miles away from the center of the city.
You have to come here and relax and check it out!
As you can see we have planted our butts firmly on this bench right here. We squeezed a ton in today and my dogs are barking.
So are mine! But stay tuned because we have one last very special stop for sunset.
We'll see you there!
Welcome to sunset hour!
We did have a little change of plans because we wanted to go up to Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar
that's on top of the Rosewood Hotel but you need a reservation. Who knew? We should have known because it's supposed to be the spot
to watch the sunset so if you come here and you go there make a reservation and let us know how it is.
We did end up a very other nice place though. Yeah it's called La Azotea. We came here the other night and got the
same drinks. We have some mezcal margaritas with jalapeno.
They are delicious!
And they also have some wonderful tapas here.
We got the rock shrimp and baked brie the other night
and it was like (THE BOMB)!
We definitely recommend that. But unfortunately we're gonna have to say bye.
Thank you so so much for coming along with us today. It would have been nowhere near as much fun
if you hadn't been here to experience it with us.
So if you enjoyed this video give us a big thumbs up, comment, subscribe and don't forget to
DLING, DLING, DLING, DLING the bell!
We'll see you, next time. Adios!
