Second practice in Las Vegas and for the second session in a row Lewis Hamilton was the fastest
man around the city streets but it was tight at the top. His time of 1 minute 33 825. The
seven-time champ didn't have the smoothest of sessions. He misjudged the braking at turn one,
smoking his tyres as he went deep into the bend and later went long at turn five.
Mercedes teammate George Russell's issues with his own equipment.
This helmet has maxed out.
And he wasn't alone in falling foul of a visor.
Charles Leclerc had a bit of a wobble going through turn one, came very close to the barriers
on more than one occasion. The man from Monaco knows how to get the most out of the circuit.
Norris also had a twitch at the first bend and suffered a lock-up at turn 14. The British driver
needs to outscore Max Verstappen by three points or more on Saturday in order to keep the Drivers
World Championship open until the next round. The defending champ suffered a lock-up at turn 14
and took to the runoff, flicking his RB20 around to get back on track. Teammate Sergio Perez also
went off-piste, cutting the corner at turn eight and later going deep at 14. Both drivers seem to
be on a different strategy to the rest of the teams. Twelve months ago the Red Bulls were on
the podium here, Max Verstappen taking his 18th win of a dominant season and Sergio Perez making
his way through the field to P3 after needing a new nose on lap one. Pierre Gasly found traffic.
Thank you very much. Honestly, they can't open their eyes or still deal with them today.
Just like. Alpine are one of the foreign teams at the moment. Their double podium last time out,
the first for the Endstone outfit since the 2013 Korean Grand Prix when the team was known as Lotus.
Kevin Magnussen suffered a huge lock-up at turn 14. The Dane has just three races left with us
and as yet hasn't announced his plans for 2025 and beyond. Alex Albon missed a large chunk of
the session. He's Williams' hit with a fuel system issue which kept him in the garage for almost 40
minutes. When the Thai driver finally made it out onto the track he soon trundled to a halt,
bringing out the red flags. So P1 again for Hamilton, a real boost after his poor performance
in Sao Paulo last time out. Norris P2 and he was ahead of Russell, Sainz, Leclerc, Gasly, Magnussen,
Piastri, Hülkenberg and Tsunoda. P11 for Bottas, then came Ocon, Stroll, Alonso, Lawson and Cho.
The Red Bulls didn't spend any time on the softs so P17 for Verstappen on the mediums. P19 for
Perez with Colapinto sandwiched between them. The unfortunate Albon makes up the 20.
