The best thing about the careers team at Bath is that they give you a full understanding of how
the recruitment process in the UK works. In order to apply how to approach interviews,
how to behave, like your body language, they went way beyond to support the students.
The career team, they give me a lot of tips and suggestions on the preparation for hunting a job.
I had mock interviews to help build up those interviewing skills. I had mock assessment
centres where I get to interact with other students, build up those team working skills
and communication skills. They've been a great help in my journey.
When I was giving the interview I was so prepared that okay I have already done it,
I am ready for it. At the end of the interview he said I could see that you're very confident
about this interview and I was like yeah thanks to my career team.
Indian recruitment process is different than UK recruitment process. In India basically we apply
at the end of our course. Most of the big companies in the UK have at least six rounds
before the final job offer. So it's very essential for you to start applying early.
For me in fact I had a job offer right before Christmas.
There are really good opportunities in UK for international students. Many companies
have different policies so it is the career team who will help us understand which visa to work on.
The difference between the skilled worker visa and the graduate visa is that if you don't have
a job offer you can apply for a post-study work which applies for two years once you complete
your master's here. And the skilled worker visa is where you get a sponsorship from your company
and have a job offer and you can start working. They make sure that you know there are opportunities
spread out all over the UK and all over the world which is brilliant. And I saw a lot of
good opportunity in Japan, China, Thailand and so many countries in Europe. I had various chances
to take part in activities such as the future business challenge which really opened my eyes
to different kinds of businesses. I did practice track and we have the experience of working for a
real company. We can implement our ideas to help this company. I think that's very useful. You can
showcase your talents and you know you can show that these are the transferable skills that you
possess. I love the careers team here and it was a brilliant experience. The support we get from the
careers team and PATH is really really helpful. I mean I have a job thanks to the careers team.
