We have had the most eventful airport drama I've ever had in my life.
We were going to go to Naples through Philadelphia,
except there was a huge storm.
So our flight got cancelled to Philadelphia,
and nothing is flying out of LaGuardia to Philadelphia any time today,
or from JFK to Philadelphia any time today.
I was able to ask the agent if they could book us from JFK to Rome,
arriving at Rome tomorrow afternoon.
They were able to do that,
and so we are currently waiting for our bag that was on our original plane
to come out at the baggage claim.
They said that there's like 500 bags
that are getting delayed through this process right now
from all the planes that were cancelled,
and so it could take up to an hour.
Hopefully we don't have to wait too long
and can start heading over to JFK soon,
but once we are in Rome,
if we make it there tomorrow in one piece with our baggage,
we're going to have to get trained at Naples,
which is like an hour, an hour and a half away,
and then I'm just fingers crossed
we make this dinner reservation
that I worked really hard to get,
and kind of what I was really looking forward to
in Positano, which is our first stop of the trip.
Very eventful day.
I'm going to have good looks on this flight if we make it.
Okay, while we wait for my luggage to come,
let me take a moment to introduce you all
to the best travel hack that everybody needs to know about
for international travel.
So clearly, things can go wrong when you're traveling,
but Airlo makes it so that you at least never have to worry
about international phone data while abroad.
Airlo is the world's first eSIM store
that provides super affordable digital SIM cards
and is trusted by over 10 million travelers worldwide.
Everything is 100% digital and downloaded through the app
so that you can easily opt into a plan
from the comfort of your home
and have full use of your phone from the moment you land.
Airlo offers plans in over 200 countries and regions.
Getting connected is as easy as choosing a country,
finding the right plan for you in terms of length
and amount of coverage,
and installing the eSIM,
which Airlo provides super easy to follow instructions for
that are tailored to your personal device type.
And once you land, you just toggle the eSIM on.
The process couldn't be any simpler.
So download the Airlo app right now
so that you don't forget to use it
for your next international trip.
I used to travel using expensive data plans
from my phone carrier that cost $10 a day,
which can add up to quite a bit over long trips
such as this one.
I found Airlo right before my Japan trip last year
and it worked perfectly for the entire month I was abroad,
which is why I knew I had to use it for Italy as well.
For just $10 in total,
I have access to coverage throughout Italy
for up to 30 days
and 3 gigabytes,
which will come in so handy as I'm navigating my way
around the Amalfi Coast,
searching up fun facts about the Chevy Fountain,
or Googling the best gelato near me.
Airlo is seriously one of the best travel hacks I've ever found,
which is why I am super excited
to be sharing a discount code with you all.
Download the Airlo app, use the code
ALISONU3 for $3 off of your data plan
and be a happy, well-connected traveler.
Thank you so much Airlo for sponsoring this video
and now let's get back to
finding my bags and catching this flight.
Okay, not too bad.
Waited for like 15 minutes.
I'm so grateful.
Now we are on our way to JFK.
We are finally boarding a new flight.
Oh my gosh.
We boarded last night too.
Can't speak too soon.
Oh, which way?
Okay.
We have made it to Positano
after two trains
and a 1.5 hour car ride.
We are now climbing the stairs
to our bed and breakfast, which is above
kind of overlooking the rest of
Positano. There's like some 300
stairs to climb up
and we are in a hustle
to make our 7pm dinner reservation.
I'm going to be so sad if we don't make it
because we tried so hard
I'm going to put the phone down
and climb the stairs.
How are we doing?
More?
He's scratching himself on the back.
He's so cute.
I feel so tired right now
but this view is giving me
life and it's breakfast.
Good morning everyone.
It is our first full day in
Positano and we are taking
a boat tour today.
So actually not spending
the majority of the day in Positano.
We're going on a tour to Capri
which is I think just like an
hour or so, a few hours boat ride away.
I'm so excited because I've heard
that a boat tour is the top
thing you have to do while you're in
Positano or on the Amalfi Coast.
It is a gorgeous day outside today.
You can hear the birds chirping.
Currently on a
45 minute morning stroll
down to the main beach
where our boat is departing.
We just
docked in Capri
and we have like three and a half hours here.
Gonna maybe grab
a bite to eat, walk around.
I want some gelato.
But how beautiful.
I always choose
the restaurants
at the top of the hill.
Should have checked the location.
Might be the best closet
I got sunburnt you guys.
Silly me. We were like running out the door this morning
and we didn't have time to put on sunscreen
and I thought I could get away with it
now that we're gonna go buy some sunscreen.
Every single street is so
beautiful here.
My hair is a disaster.
We got off the bus.
We got on the bus today
on the way home so we didn't have to walk up
thousands of stairs like yesterday.
It was such a fun day.
Capri was great and we also
met so many really cool
people who were on the same small
group as us. I think it was
12 of us on a boat ride and I actually
think all of us came from America.
We actually met a really cool other couple
and got chatting so we might go
meet up with them for drinks or dinner tomorrow
so that would be fun.
On the way to our
dinner reservation now. The church bells
are ringing. It's currently a church
holiday and our Airbnb
is kind of overlooking this
major church in town so
we have these lovely bells to accompany us on our walk.
I did a quick change
because I was so
grimy from our day out.
So I did a quick body shower and then I
changed into this beautiful
dress from Restaurant Runway. I've actually
worked up an appetite from our day
out. I feel like I'm always stuffed
on vacation because I'm constantly
eating and drinking but there's so
much walking so far in Positano
that I'm actually quite hungry
so I'm really looking forward to dinner.
Everything here tastes so
crap.
It is our last full day in
Positano before we head to
a different part of the Amalfi Coast tomorrow.
Today is our kind of like chill
catch up on work, not much
scheduled day which honestly
after our flight mayhem
and just a full day out
yesterday is perfect. We're going to
chill in our beautiful
bed and breakfast, spend a nice
morning and afternoon working out
on the terrace before actually
meeting the friends we met yesterday
for drinks. I want to
show you guys our hotel room
has like this beautiful balcony
with a mosquito net here.
Let's see.
We were having breakfast
down there and we're going to do our
work there in a few minutes.
And there's Horace.
For a bit of context,
we're staying in a bed and breakfast
that is tucked like really really
far up the hill from downtown
Positano and essentially
I had booked this place because
I had booked the entire trip
pretty last minute, like a month and a half
out and it's peak season in
Positano and all of the hotels
downtown were a
super expensive and be
pretty much all booked out.
And so this place is a little bit
harder to get to which is why
I think it still had availability. The hosts
are the loveliest couple.
Truly have enjoyed talking
to them and getting to know them so much over
the past couple of days here. This is their
family home and they live here and they basically
just host guests during peak season.
We're talking to our hosts and they said
that the past couple summers they've actually
had the entire place booked out
and were hosting like 8 to
10 rooms at a time and it was just
way too much because it's just the
two of them running this entire place. And as you
can tell from kind of the breakfast
and everything, they do like a
really attentive service and it's like a very
beautiful experience. So this summer they
decided to keep it small and just host
one guest or one room at a
time. So yeah, that's why James and I are the only
guests in this place right now
which I feel so grateful for.
It's like so nice and peaceful and quiet.
Gonna go back downstairs now and spend
hopefully a very productive morning
getting through some work before heading out
for the afternoon and eat.
We're heading
out in 5 minutes for drinks
and then heading to dinner after that.
This is the outfit of the day
finally changing at like 4pm.
I am so sunburnt.
Oh my gosh, like my shoulders
like the back of both of my shoulders
is where the worst of it is. I'm trying to cover
it up but even my entire
neck and chest area is so
burnt. So hopefully this heals semi
quickly but pain isn't
too bad right now. This dress
luckily covers kind of like a lot of the
areas that are most sunburnt and it is a
super super cute one that I first
rented off of Rent the Runway and then I
loved it so much that I bought it and it's from
Love Shack Fancy and I felt like it was
perfect for European summer. Alright, let's
head out.
Just finished drinks. Had
the absolute best time chatting.
We are on our way to dinner now.
Just a couple minutes late because we were having
too good of a time but last dinner
in this beautiful beautiful
beautiful place.
