Gerbera Daisy Arrangements : Floral Arrangements

Hi, I'm Jennifer McGarrigle from Floral Art in Los Angeles, and today I'm going to show you how to make a sleek, modern arrangement out of Gerber daisies. We just need a few things to make this arrangement. This is an oval glass vase. However, you could use a cylindrical glass or a square glass. It doesn't matter so much. We'll need three to four stems of green tea leaves, one flax leaf, and approximately 30 stems of Gerber daisies. To begin with, of course, after you put the water in the vase, we're going to take the green tea leaves, and we're going to go ahead and give it a nice, clean, straight cut along the bottom. And then we're going to go ahead and we're going to put it in the vase just like this. Putting the leaves in, it's good to overlap them a little bit. With the flax leaf, what we're going to do is we're going to make it a little bit smaller, and then we're going to wrap it so that it follows the shape of the vase, and then I'm just going to gently put it in like this. And from there, we're going to go ahead and use this flax leaf and just cut it where it's nice and straight, just like this. And we're going to place this off-center within the vase, just like that, and I'm going to cut it right here. And the idea then is that it becomes two off-center stripes within the vase, just like that. Now for the fun part. We're going to use the Gerber daisies, and these are such a beautiful shade of pink. And we're going to go ahead and we're going to cut the stems probably about six to seven inches, and you can go ahead and place them around the edge of the vase. And just having the heads just come over the edge of the vase. One of the great things about Gerber daisies is that they truly are inexpensive, and because of that, we can use a lot of them. And when we do that, we can make a lusher, fuller look with them. And by choosing one color, one monochromatic color of the Gerber daisies paired with the clear glass vase, it gives the arrangement an overall more of a modern look, a little bit more unusual than the standard Gerber daisy arrangement.
