Good day guys, it's Peter and Oni.
Together we are Two Hungry Diners.
Well guys, welcome back to our YouTube channel.
And today we are in Singapore.
We finally escaped Melbourne winter and look at this weather.
Gloriously hot and humid and sweaty.
Much needed break after a long, dreaded winter in Melbourne.
Plus the COVID as well, the lockdown.
And we finally got a chance to travel overseas again.
Yes, welcome to our first video.
Today in this video, we are going to do a vlog style video.
We're going to show you guys everything that we visit here in Singapore.
Including all the food that we eat here.
We're going to publish another video that shows you guys viral food.
Any kind of hype, like super hype food or super popular food currently in Singapore.
By the way, if you guys are wondering where we stay here in Singapore on our first night,
well, we stay right there.
I don't know if you guys can see the three towers.
And we'll show you guys where we stay.
Don't forget to subscribe to our channel, to our awesome YouTube channel.
And don't forget to like this video.
All right, we're going to show you guys where we stay.
That video will be coming up after this first one.
There you go.
Marina Basin.
Super excited to be staying here and it's going to be on the next video.
So make sure to subscribe.
This first one here where we're just crossing is called Helix Bridge.
It's also another popular kind of like attractions you have to visit here in Singapore.
Obviously, this structure here is very, very cool.
A lot of people are taking pictures on social media.
So make sure you come down.
Maybe not this middle of the day, you know, a little bit later in the afternoon.
You can take like very cool pictures.
And across me is the Singapore Flyer, which I only haven't, you know, tried before.
I did try before when I visited Singapore back in 2011, I think, with my family.
So that's another popular attraction as well.
We're not going to do it today or this time around, maybe in the future.
Also, another popular one is the Art Science Museum right there.
Very cool, kind of like exhibitions inside, you know, things you can see.
All things science.
If you're a science nerd, you know, looking for something different,
make sure you visit Art Science Museum.
This weather is a killer.
I thought I'm going to survive, but wow.
We are very close to the Merlion Park, which is also extremely popular attraction.
But nearby there is an ice cream shop, which was recommended by one of Indonesian food bloggers.
Yes.
Hope we can try it.
Yeah, let's go down there.
Okay.
It's very light, actually.
It's not creamy.
It's icy.
This is the iconic Singaporean mascot, the Merlion.
A perfect photo spot for tourists.
We spent three nights in Singapore, and for the first night, we stayed at Marina Bay Sands Hotel.
This stay was our bucket list item for a long time,
and we were so glad we have the opportunity to do so during this trip.
The full review for our stay at Marina Bay Sands Hotel
will be coming up in the next video of this Singapore series.
For dinner, we headed to Lau Pasar, where we once again tasted delicious Singapore carrot cake
and satay set from the Satay Vendor located outside of the hawker center.
We've been to this hawker center a couple of times in the past,
and we love the choices you can find here.
All right, let's try the chicken first with that peanut sauce.
Okay.
I think the sauce is really sweet.
It's not like our sauce, Indonesian style sauce, which is savory, you know, a bit more salty.
But the chicken itself is super tender.
Really like the charred flavor.
Beef now.
It has like a really strong lemongrass flavor, which I quite like.
I'm really a fan of lemongrass, and you can kind of like see that here as well.
So all that, yeah, string of like lemongrass marination as well.
All right, guys, we are here with kind of like a local.
This is our friend.
He owns a YouTube channel as well.
The channel name is Gunner Travel.
Hello, hello, hello.
Yeah, today I'm accompanying 200 diners.
So 200 diners is coming to Singapore.
So I become their local driver.
Well, thank you to Gunner, and subscribe to his channel.
After a delightful stay at Marina Bay Sands Hotel,
we moved to our next hotel, which was Hilton Hotel Orchard, located on Orchard Road.
And if you are looking for the full review of our stay at Hilton Hotel,
make sure you subscribe to our channel as this video will be coming up very soon.
After checking in, we spent a bit of time to check out Don Don Donki,
an all-Japanese supermarket located at Orchard Gateway, B2 level, near Somerset MRT.
If you are Japanese food lover or Japanese stuff addict, this place is like heaven for you.
You find everything from Japanese food, Japanese product, Japanese ramen,
fresh food, you know, frozen food, anything like they import from Japan,
you can definitely find it here.
Wow, so many food we want to try from Japan, but not this time around.
All right, guys, we are at Arabica here in 313 Somerset.
And this coffee shop, we've been passing around for a couple of times
when we are in Singapore, but we never try it.
So this is our first time trying it.
It's freaking expensive.
$10 almost for a cup of iced coffee, which is crazy.
This is the Spanish latte.
The staff say it's a little bit more acidic,
but it's the most sweetest out of the blend that they have.
So this is the blend version, not the single origin one.
Let's try.
I think the quality of the coffee is good.
And it's certainly fruity.
It's certainly super sweet.
Maybe not better than Melbourne coffee.
I am sorry.
Oh, it's sweet.
Is this by default or they already put sugar on it?
Coffee is quite strong.
Not a coffee expert, so I can't really judge the quality.
But I mean, it's not better than Melbourne coffee for sure.
Yeah, I think it's the same,
but it's definitely not better than Melbourne coffee.
Yeah, not disappointed though.
It's quite good.
Then we headed out to grab some late lunch.
For this round, we headed to one Michelin star,
Tai Hwa Pork Noodle, which was quite a wait,
even though it wasn't peak hour.
Then we tried the ever popular Mr. Coconut
before headed to Sim Lim Square
to try the viral restaurant amongst Indonesian community,
three meals a day.
The full review of all these three restaurants
will be coming up in our next video.
As part of our day three itinerary here in Singapore,
we visited Champion Boloban on Tanjung Pagar Road.
This is without a doubt,
one of the most hyped store in the Indonesian community.
Our verdict on Champion Boloban will be in our next video.
Next, we head over to Hap Seng Long to meet our friends.
Okay guys, we are here at Hap Seng Long.
It's a very popular kopitiam here in Singapore.
This is a very, very old coffee shop.
A lot of like famous YouTuber has been here
trying this Hayato's and the egg, half boiled egg,
mug beans and pudding,
Chopsticks Trevor recently came here as well.
And of course the next famous YouTuber is us
trying this very famous kopitiam, right?
This kopitiam is very popular with the coffee butter.
I think the coffee with butter is okay.
I can't really taste the butter
once we mix everything all together.
One thing I know is the coffee is a bit sweet,
but the coffee itself is quite good.
Still brew it using traditional method.
Okay, let's try the food here.
The kaya jam and the butter ratio is quite good.
They still kind of like grill the toast
using the traditional method with charcoal
compared to electric grill these days.
So you get a little bit of the charry smell from the charcoal.
Pretty good, pretty good.
The half boiled egg is here.
Let me try.
I love a lot of white pepper.
And soy sauce as well.
I think the egg as well is a huge egg, right?
This size here.
And it's really yellow.
It's yellow, very yellowy.
All right, so that's the traditional way of eating it
is to mix the kaya toast with the half boiled egg, right?
Super good.
That egg yolk is creamy.
It's rich as well.
Perfect.
Perfect vehicle for the kaya toast.
Very iconic, I think, in Singapore.
You must try it.
And it's not very far away
from the one Michelin star Thai Wabok noodle as well.
You might as well come here and then grab the noodle later.
After that, we head to Jalan Besar,
home of the legendary beach road scissor cut curry rice
to get some lunch.
This has been on our list of restaurants in Singapore
for a long time.
Following a series of non-stop eating,
we decided to explore Singapore cityscapes a bit.
We headed to Orchard Central Roof Garden,
which is one of the best roof gardens in Singapore
located on the top floor of Orchard Central Shopping Mall.
Located at level 11 and 12 of the mall,
it is open to the public 24 hours a day.
The garden is well equipped with green large wall
and balcony rails on both levels of the viewing deck.
The view is really amazing overlooking Singapore city.
This is a great place to chill, hang out,
and spend time enjoying the view.
Then for dinner on day three,
we headed to Unagi Tei,
formerly known as Manman Japanese Unagi Restaurant.
This restaurant is also listed in the 2022
Singapore Michelin Beef Gourmet.
In short, we are all agreed that the food here is very, very oishii.
Check out our full review in our next 2022 Singapore video.
Okay guys, this is our last day in Singapore,
but before we leave Singapore,
we have to try one more food stall from this hawker center.
They have just been awarded Beef Gourmet selection
from Michelin.
This is the Sing Loong Hong Kong Cheong Kwan.
They cook the sheet, the rice paper sheet,
using traditional way, like one by one.
And it's very cheap as well.
Only $4, I think, for the prawn cheong kwan.
We also get the glutinous rice.
Looks good.
Prawn looks very generous.
The sauce, I think the hero as well.
It's very well balanced.
Not too sweet, not too salty as well.
Oh yeah, I love the rice paper roll as well.
It's very soft.
It's not like easily breakable as well.
And the prawn, the prawn is also the star.
Very fresh.
When you bite into it, it's like there's some crunchiness.
Not overcooked at all.
I think I know why this place is awarded by,
you know, Beef Gourmet selection.
Nice.
And I cannot resist this glutinous rice.
The color looks really good.
And there's a little bit of like ham as well.
Mushroom.
Very flavorsome.
Love the flavor combination.
And yeah, of course, this is one of my favorite food
when you're having dim sum.
Glutinous rice.
Our last stop on our way to Changi Airport
is Aeon Shopping Mall on Orchard Road
to try Lee Sin Teochew Fishball Noodles once again.
You often find this stall in the shopping mall food court.
And recently in 2022,
the original stall of Lee Sin
at Kim Kip Pub Market and Food Center
has been included in the Singapore Michelin Guide
with a Beef Gourmet.
Spicy one, by the way.
Generous amount of sauce as well.
Quite spicy, but not too much.
Noodle is al dente.
The soup is, oh, it's really good.
Fishy, but not in a bad way, in a good way.
Now let's try the fishball.
Can taste the fish for sure.
I don't mind it, I think.
I think the hero is this noodle.
And that pretty much sums up our four-day trips to Singapore.
Our trip to this country post-COVID-19 pandemic was a blast.
And we are glad international travel is back up and running.
Before leaving Singapore, we can't resist having one last meal.
All right, guys, that concludes our first vlog in Singapore.
I hope you guys enjoy this video and find this video useful.
And don't forget to give it a like and subscribe to our
awesome, awesome channel.
And yeah, we are at Changi Airport right now.
And we have done some damage, some shopping before we head to Jakarta next.
But we still have two or three more videos from Singapore.
Make sure you stay tuned.
Until then, stay fully, stay hungry.
Bye from Singapore!
you
