You've been married 11 years now.
Yeah. Gosh, it's 11 years now.
And we dated three years before that, so I guess it's like 14 years together with my wife, Nancy Javonen, or Nancy Fallon now.
She's the greatest, man.
When did you know that you were going to get married?
We knew we were going to get married. I knew I was going to get married.
And we lived together in L.A. I had no job.
She was the breadwinner.
She produces flower films with Drew Barrymore.
So she did Charlie's Angels and Never Been Kissed, all the flower films movies.
She did Donnie Darko, of course. She did that.
I mean, they've done great stuff.
I was just unemployed after SNL.
And then I just go like, yeah, this is great.
I go, I'm going to propose.
I got a ring, and I had to propose.
And that was just such an awkward thing, because you know kind of it's coming, the whole proposal thing.
And I want to be romantic and perfect.
And she came into New York to visit from L.A.
And I go, I'm going to do it tonight.
I'm going to do it somewhere.
I don't know where I'm going to do it.
Maybe a park somewhere.
Some place that we know that will always be around, or in my apartment or something.
And she goes, I open the door, and she goes, hi, honey.
She goes, I have a surprise for you.
I'm like, I have a surprise.
I'm like, OK.
I hope it doesn't top my surprise.
She goes, we're going to go to a Per Se, which is a great restaurant.
I go, oh my god.
I always wanted to go there.
I go, I don't want to propose in Per Se, because what if one year it moves locations, and now it's not?
And years later, I'm going to have kids.
I go, your mom and I got married.
I know it's a laser tag place, but at one point.
It was a very fancy restaurant.
Yeah, exactly.
So I didn't want that happening.
So I went to Per Se, cut to 14 courses later.
14 courses later.
14.
I was bombed.
Yeah, I was going to say.
Wine came with every course.
I go, I can't do it.
This is, the whole moment's gone.
I don't want that to be the memory.
So I got back, and I go, and her brother knew that I was going to do it.
And he's like, did you do it?
Did you?
And I go, no, I didn't.
We went to Per Se.
I'm like, 14 courses later.
He goes, just go to Molly's down the street.
We'll do it there.
I go, OK.
So I go, I'm in the back.
I wash my face.
I go, honey, you want to go to Molly's?
You feel like having another, she goes, do you want to drink more?
And he's like, no.
So I waited another three months.
Oh, and then where did you do it?
Well, I already asked her parents for permission to.
So they were chomping at the bit.
Every time they call, they go, or I called them.
I'm like, hey, guys.
Yeah?
Hi?
Yeah?
What's going on?
Nothing's going on, and we're all hanging out.
Still eating at Per Se.
Yeah, exactly.
So yeah, exactly.
So I did it at the summer home our parents have on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
Oh, that's nice.
And I went out to the dock.
And I said, don't cry.
Don't cry when you do it.
Let her cry first.
Don't, because I'm a pretty mushy guy.
But I'm like, it's such a big deal, and it's overthought in my head.
And I just want it to be perfect.
And I go, don't cry.
Let her cry first.
I go, honey.
And then I got down on one knee.
And I immediately like, one, two, one, two, one, two, three, four.
One, two.
And she's like, are you having a stroke?
Half my face was smelling burnt toast.
And I go, oh, god.
When do people love each other?
And she's like, oh, my goodness.
So just stop.
Yes, yes, yes.
So she said yes.
And then we celebrated.
And it was fun.
But the rest is history.
Yeah.
