Christine Sinclair's Message to Portland

Okay, so I didn't prepare anything like these two.
I was focused solely on trying to win a soccer game and help us get to the playoffs.
Clive Charles brought me down to Portland as like a shy, awkward teenager,
and it was the best decision I ever made. And then for the past 12 years,
it has been the honor of my life to represent this club, to wear this badge.
I might cry. I said I wouldn't cry. I want to thank the organization, all the coaches that
I've had, all the staff that work behind the scenes and never get the credit they deserve.
Thank you for investing and believing in women's sports when not many people did.
To my teammates, I don't know what to say. I've had the privilege of playing with some
of the world's best players, but even better people. They've helped me become the person
I am today. And I would not be standing up here without all of you guys, all the ones I've played
with many, many years ago. And then my family who are taking up half the field over there.
You've been here. You've taken this crazy journey with me. And just thank you for the unwavering
support. It's kind of crazy. Two of my uncles, their numbers are up there. They actually played
for the Timbers. So that's pretty cool that you put those up there. So I just think I was meant
to be here. And lastly, to all you guys, since day one, you've showed up. You've made it an
absolute privilege to play on this pitch. You've supported this team through all the good, all the
bad, the wins, the losses, the rain. You are what make this club special. You're what make this city
special. Some of the best moments of my life have been on this pitch. So just a massive thank you.
This team is not done. The goal is to bring back another trophy and we'll
come back and celebrate with you all again. Thank you.
