10 rollerskate moves that you can learn in quarantine, a.k.a. very small spaces.
What's up Planet Roller Skaters? Indy Jamajohns here and Pigeon. So today's episode is all about
rollerskating tricks that you can learn within a very small space, like a bedroom or kitchen
or living room or your patio. Yeah, let's do it. Number one, my absolute favorite thing that I
could literally do for hours is just balancing on my front toes. So I like to just get into this zen
position and go to another place. Should I do it too? And then you have to move around. Yeah,
and you have to engage your core. I can literally do this for hours. Whoa, you move around? Yeah,
dude. But you have toe socks on, so it's going to be hard. You know, and of course you can
eventually get to the point where you're like flowing with it. But even just like getting this
balance and like engaging your core in the right way. It's so, yeah, it's right here. You got to
sit low and you got to like engage these muscles, like those V muscles. These traps are so loose,
dude. Okay, cool. Number two, running in place. Who needs a treadmill?
Slow jog. Wait, what is that, a dog? Literally, why do people need treadmills?
Number three, Pigeon, you got one? Spinning. Oh, spinning. Ding, ding, ding. We have a spin
tutorial that will help you in this, but I will link where that little information dot is.
All right, here we go. Spinning. You're doing it on the front too? Yes, right? Okay. Whoa,
I'm dizzy. Nice. Nice. Oh, dang. I wonder, I think I can do it on my front wheels better.
Whoa. Unlock something. I'm dizzy though. Can't do that back row one. You got to put your toe in.
You have to like right now, when you're spinning your toes like this, you have to bring this one
in. So it's like, oh, okay. Number four. What's number four? I'm still dizzy. I can't focus right
now. I like this move. You have to go in one direction and then you have to go back the other
way. It makes for a fun thing to do inside because it's kind of complicated. You have to move your
front on the other leg with one leg and your back on the other. So no disrespect, I'm sure there is
an actual name for this, but in my head, when I see that move, I always think of Footloose.
I like mixing it up too, between heel toe to both heels and both toes. And then you can go back and
forth, right? And then you can go like, woo, woo, woo, woo. Number five. Handstands. You can start
by, we're going to use this for now. Small spaces. I'm going to put my hands down,
my belly's going to face the wall. Oh God, I don't want to have toes. Then one leg here.
Really? And then you can start like doing handstands, you know?
Just start doing handstands. I've never done a handstand. Okay. So I'm going to do the little
halfway thing that you were saying. Walk your legs up the wall.
Walk my legs up the wall. My pom-pom. Yeah. You hear that body creaking?
Being upside down with my hands. But you know, if you're in a small space, it's good for you.
You got to get that blood flowing. I'd probably start without my skates first,
since I'm not used to it. That's probably a good idea. And then go to my skates,
which seems fun to do. Yeah. I guess unless you're pretty good at handstands,
you might be knocking things over with your skates on. Just an idea. Number six. Jumping.
Jumping. I don't want to do no jumping. Do it small. Just like Maple. Rip it. Rip it. No,
she says Ricky. Ricky? Ricky. Ricky. You almost lost it. What's next? Number seven? Do we have
a number seven? I mean, seven could probably be like little step moves. So cross front. Oh,
or the cross front. Step, cross front. Step, cross back. Step, cross front. Yeah, that's cool. So
cross steps. I don't know the name. Cross front. Step, cross front. Step, cross front. Step,
cross front. You got to bend those legs. Tap. You tap, right? Are you over here tapping?
And then cross back. All right. Number eight. Crazy legs. I'm no expert on this,
but we have a tutorial that I will link right here, up there. And this is my best attempt.
I look like a goofball. I don't even know if I'm doing it right. Yeah, there you go.
That? I don't know. Isn't that like a step before? This is like the
scaffolded version where I'm like stepping and stuff. It's the cheek. Also, we have a tutorial
on the downtown. That is right here. Yeah, so you can do the downtown. That's the downtown.
Hear my pom poms? Yeah, that's fun. It brings joy to the quarantine. All right, cool. Number 10.
Just feeling yourself. Just put on a good song and feel yourself and your emotions and get it
out. You don't need that much room to transcend it. You don't need that much room to go to a
completely different place on your roller skates. Literally, a tiny little area of smooth floor
will show you Planet Roller Skate. Welcome to Planet Roller Skate, you guys. Even in
the tiniest of spaces, your mind could just... I'm going to stop. I don't know. I'm on one today.
Thank you guys so much for watching this episode of Planet Roller Skate. You guys, stay safe out
there. Wash your hands. Don't let your joy be killed. Yeah, find that little space in your
house or in your garage on your patio or at your friend's house and skate. Do little movements.
Let's just stay, even if it's just a small space. Keep your body moving. They can't take that from
you. Obviously, we're just having fun. We are not expert dance skaters. There are lots of expert
dance skaters. These are just baby beginning ideas of moves that are really, really developed
and people besides us could show you incredible things that are possible in a tiny square of
smooth surface. This is just to give you a little idea, a little bit of inspiration.
