I'll be introducing to you five common verbs today.
Verbs in Korean are the most important part of the sentence.
It is actually the part that you only need for the sentence to be complete.
Unlike English, Korean often does not mention the subject of the sentence.
For example, in English, you might say,
Are you sleepy?
However, in Korean, you can say,
If people know who you're referring to,
it's perfectly okay to leave out the you in the sentence.
You can say it like this in Korean and be grammatically correct.
Whereas in English, it is not considered correct when you leave out the subject.
So basically, verb is all you need in a sentence and everything else is extra.
So today, I'll be introducing five common Korean verbs.
Most of the verbs have the same root regardless of who you're speaking to.
But the ending will depend on who you're speaking with.
So keep in mind, there are three distinct endings when you're speaking casually,
politely, and formally.
Casual ends in ah or uh.
Polite form usually ends in uh-yo or ah-yo.
And formal usually ends in um-ni-da or sum-ni-da.
Now let's look at those five common Korean verbs.
So first, I will tell you in the dictionary form,
All right, ready?
I'll pronounce two times for you.
So to say go, it's
To say come, it's
To drink, it's
To eat, it's
To buy, it's
Polite form endings usually is used in everyday life conversation in Korea.
For formal ending, it is usually used when you're giving a presentation
or someone who has a higher status
or it's usually on news broadcast.
I recommend you to use polite form ending when speaking these verbs.
Even though it is in a polite form ending, it is also used in a casual way
because
the yo, the ending yo
is mostly used in everyday life conversation in Korea.
Now I'll be giving you some example sentences to help you understand better.
저는 학교에 가요.
제 동생이 집에 와요.
저는 물을 마셔요.
저는 불고기를 먹어요.
저는 옷을 사요.

저는 means I.
