Philippine Signs 2 Law Asserting Maritime Rights

The Philippines’ President signed two laws on Friday, reaffirming the extent of the country’s maritime territories and right to resources there. Areas mentioned in the law overlap with China’s claims in the South China Sea.

China soon responded that it had summoned the country’s ambassador to protest against the Filipino rule.
