I'm delighted to be sharing an extract from my latest single with you all, which is available to listen to on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.
"Ich furchte zwar/nicht des Grabes Finsternissen" is from from Bach's Cantata "Erfreut euch, ihr Herzen" (Rejoice, you Hearts), BWV 66. It was composed for the Second Day of Easter in Leipzig and first performed it on 10 April 1724.
Throughout the cantata, there is a dialogue between the tenor and alto, both of whom represent different attitudes towards the Resurrection of Jesus, similarly to the two disciples.
In this aria, the alto expresses a fear of the grave, whereas the tenor is not afraid. The two solo voices weave in and out of the violin line, illustrating Bach's brilliant use of the obligato technique.
The complete album, "The Art of Obligato" will be launching on Friday 22nd November and we are are so excited to share it with you all 🎻
