Hey what's up guys, welcome back to my channel Dale Does Stuff. As you can see we're at Harbor
Freight today. I found the US General Mini Toolbox, so we're going to do an unboxing,
review, and then compare to the Cobalt Mini Toolbox that I've done on my
most recent video. So without further ado, let's go buy it and then check it out.
Alright, here we are. I had to go into the back to get it because they literally just got them in.
They have a 15% off sale right now, so that's pretty huge. I got this for 15 bucks,
but if you are interested, come Black Friday, they're only gonna be $10. So let's check this out.
Alright guys, so now that we have it unboxed, let's get into some of the specs of it
and then I will compare it with the Mini Cobalt Toolbox that I have back there.
I'll tell you which one I think is better, which one I think you should buy,
and then go buy one. Let's get into it. The top portion of the toolbox is 10 3.25 inches wide by
5 3.25 inches deep. The bottom drawer is 8 5.8 inches wide by 5.8 inches deep and has a 2 inch
clearance. The drawer runs on bearings which makes it extremely smooth and it locks in place by a
magnet in the back. The overall finish of the toolbox is a gloss black, which I like a lot,
they also made the handles gloss, which looks really good. The top drawer is also 8 5.8 inches
wide by 5 inches deep, but it has a clearance of 1.5 inches. Alright guys, we got both toolboxes
side by side right here. They are practically identical, except for a few different things.
So the finish on the US General is more of a glossy finish, or I would say this one isn't as
glossy, but that means that this one is going to be a fingerprint magnet. So I've already noticed
that, like, I can see my fingerprints on it, but I don't plan on, you know, touching the outside of
it. It's on except for opening drawers. Another difference that I noticed between these two
is the lid here doesn't support itself, it just falls back. It also doesn't have pads,
whereas this one supports itself up and it has pads if it were to fall. Nice and quiet.
You can hear a little squeak. I don't hear a squeak in this one. This one's also brand new,
so once I use it a few times, I do anticipate that squeaking to go away.
So another difference that is pretty huge between these two toolboxes
is the drawers themselves. The drawers on the Cobalt,
that's metal on metal. Drawers on the US General, that's bearings. Those are nice.
One thing that we do need to talk about is price point between these two toolboxes.
The Cobalt toolbox is currently $19.95, whereas the US General toolbox is $15 right now on sale,
but if you wait till Black Friday, these things will be on sale for $10. $10 is crazy for this
toolbox because compared to a $20 toolbox, if you get this for $10, it's already upgraded.
Better drawers. The hinge is better. It has pads. It comes with padding already.
My favorite thing. I had to buy padding for this, so if you want to
take cost into consideration here, I had to buy at least $7 worth of padding because it was the
cheapest one I could find and then cut it up. This one already came with it. $10 is a steal,
guys, if you're out there. If you're looking for something to organize your watches, your EDC,
which EDC stands for everyday carry because I had a few people that didn't know that.
If you're looking for something to organize anything you got, it could be pens. It could
be just a desk display if you want it to be. Put things in it that you might utilize. I don't know.
Whatever you want to use it for, if you're looking for it, check this out because I couldn't be
happier with paying $15 for it, let alone $20. I'd pay $25 to get this over this all day.
Probably going to retire this or move it somewhere where I can use it for something else,
but I hope that US General comes out with a bottom half to their toolbox at some point so I
can purchase that because this is definitely replacing the Cobalt toolbox. Hope you guys
enjoyed this review. I know it was a little long, but well worth it. Well worth $15, well worth $10,
well worth $20. Go out there and get yourself a US General mini toolbox and let me know what
you're going to put in it. If you guys enjoyed this video, don't forget to like,
comment, and subscribe and I'll see you in the next one.
