The Day Neymar Destroyed Liverpool

But they sometimes lacked a little bit of application when they played the very best sides in the Champions League. Neymar looking to send Juan Bernat away down the left-hand side. The offside flag was up. This is too easy otherwise. First step over of the night from Neymar. That was okay. That's okay. Neymar's ball to Mbappé. Di Maria. Beaten away by Alisson. One of those dippers that the Liverpool goalkeeper had to make sure he judged just right. Yeah, I don't know whether it was going in. Corner taken short again. Neymar can power in here for Paris Saint-Germain. Clip one in for Thiago Silva. Flag was up. Wouldn't have counted. But again, it's the two-on-one from the set-piece. Again, Tottenham Chelsea just nullify him a little bit. Just to stop him getting on the ball and going forwards. Mbappé to Neymar. Milner was in there and he's fouled and the referee's pulled it back. He actually let it go because of the half-chance for Paris Saint-Germain. But I think in hindsight, they are now. 15 minutes and it's Juan Bernat with his second goal of the season. After Liverpool had just switched off inside their own penalty area. A kind of start that PSG would have wanted on a night where they want to set the tempo, set the standard. And Neymar has just made the challenge on Gomez and then really gesticulated to the crowd. Jumping in between Kimpembe and Thiago Silva to make it a back three. He'll step out when he can as well. How's will this man Neymar? On Mo Salah. A little flick by Neymar. That was nice to Henderson. Wijnaldum's foul. Free kick to PSG. They're a little bit wobbly at the moment, Liverpool. Yeah, they are. They have to stand strong. Tiptoed his way through and found Neymar. Situation. Ball ripped here. Molokita bent one in behind them. And Marquinhos was one of the players. Neymar's offside. Was it a four? Hilda wasn't fouled there by Verratti. Neymar comes away with it. Gets it back again from Edinson Cavani. Here's Kylian Mbappe. Slides it through. Cavani couldn't get there. Robertson could. And then Marquinhos. Here's Neymar. And Alisson. Gets a hold of it for Liverpool. But the warning signs were there again. Yeah, when they break. Gets it back again from Mbappe. Now Neymar. Clips one forward towards Cavani but through to Alisson. Joe Gomez. Under pressure from Neymar and he's lost it. Not to get back. Although they'll get the free kick here. Paris Saint-Germain. Yellow card for Gomez. See that was... ...the drums and enjoying the Paris Saint-Germain performance at the moment. That's a foul by Milner. On Neymar. Kylian Mbappe was too strong in the challenge. For Firmino. Nice lay-off by Mbappe to Neymar. And now they're in business. Kylian Mbappe. Cavani sprinting through the middle. Di Maria coming in as well. It's Neymar! And it's 2-0. They were ripped apart there, Liverpool, by the speed of the Paris Saint-Germain attack. And the finishing touch applied by Neymar is 14th goal of the season. It's Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Liverpool. Absolutely torn apart. Liverpool giving the ball away really easily. Nice 1-2. Mbappe, Neymar. And as soon as he puts him in, the white shirts are streaming forward. Can't catch him up. Keeper does great there. Can't do anything about that. Touch by Cavani. Saved by Anderson. Neymar who... ...start the move off 50 yards prior. It's a simple tap-in. He said Liverpool had to get to half-time. Well, it's 14 goals in 17 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain this season for Neymar. Neymar's got down under the Milner challenge. They're running their own private battle out there tonight, aren't they, Neymar and Milner? He's off the floor. Good decision. The extra official. Two additional minutes at the end of the half. The Paris Saint-Germain players are still having their say, but I don't really know why. 10 or 15 minutes, just to try and nullify him slightly. Thiago Silva would have been onside if he would have let it go. That is a let-off for Liverpool. That would have been the worst possible start to a second half. Touch by Mbappé to Neymar, and then back again. It's out there, Loveland. Don't let him turn. Just stay with him. Neymar's going to hit one. Never really got the power to it. Are they going to get the free kick here at PSG? Cavani poses the obvious danger from the free kick, although Neymar drills it straight into the Liverpool wall. That was a foul. Ferrati was having a pull at it, wasn't he? Not looking to send Mbappé away, but Alisson went. Seems to be, whether it's an unwritten rule or a written rule, but whenever Neymar comes towards the ball, it seems like you've got to give it to him. Glanced away by Keira. Salah on the volley. Hits it really nicely, although Neymar got the block in, and he's quickly away. Here's Mbappé. They've been sharp enough around the Paris Saint-Germain penalty area, have they? No. So unlike Liverpool. Danny Elvis shouting at the assistant for the challenge by Sadio Mane. It just took too long, Danny Elvis. That's all it was. Neymar, with a more direct approach, could save Alisson. It was Marquinhos powering in, and then Mbappé couldn't find the follow-up. Neymar. Here is Neymar. Away from Gomez, Van Dijk across, down went Neymar. Referee said Van Dijk got the ball. The referee was ideally placed. Balls past Gomez really easily. Sadio Mane. Neymar's tackle. Mane keeps it, then he loses it, then Liverpool get the free kick and cue the frustration from the players in white and the crowd inside the Parc des Princes. Neymar to Verratti. Musta banged it on the grass. Glide between Lovren. Neymar hits it, Alisson saves it. Easy challenge over there by Robertson on Neymar. Yeah, just frustration now. It's going through the full repertoire now. One in the playground tomorrow with the fresher legs. Here's Neymar. Verratti in. Neymar picks up the pieces and the free kick goes Liverpool's way. It's a yellow card for Neymar. There's the full-time whistle and you can see the delight on the faces of the Paris Saint-Germain players and the coach Thomas Tuchel. It's their night tonight. Jean-Louis Dubuffon had one of his quietest nights in the Champions League. All the scoring came in the first half. Juan Bernat with the first goal. Neymar with the second. Liverpool got a lifeline on the stroke of half-time with the middle of the penalty. But Paris Saint-Germain were able to see it through and win the game in the Parc des Princes tonight. It all comes down to match day six and Liverpool now know what they have to do at Anfield against Napoli. But it's Paris Saint-Germain's night. It's finished. PSG 2-1 Liverpool.
