Hello everyone I'm here to inform you that I'm retiring from professional tennis The reality is that it's been a difficult time especially the last two years I think I haven't been able to play without limitations It's a decision that's obviously difficult one that took me time to make In this life everything has a beginning and an end I think it's the right time for what has been a long and successful career something I could never have imagined I am very excited that my last tournament will be the Davis Cup final and representing my country I think it's closing the circle since one of my first big joys as a professional tennis player was the final in Seville in 2004 I feel extremely lucky for all the things I have been able to experience I want to thank the entire tennis industry all the people involved in this sport For so many years with my teammates especially my great rivals I have spent countless hours with them and lived through many moments that I will remember for the rest of my life Talking about my team is a little more difficult for me because in the end my team has been a very important part of my life They are not just workers they are friends and have been by my side in every moment I truly needed them Bad moments good moments moments that have had to tighten moments that have had to loosen We've lived so much together that it's hard to explain Family is everything to me My mother believes she has made all the sacrifices she needed to so that we always had everything My wife Mary we've been together for 19 years Thank you for everything you've done I think she has been my perfect travel companion throughout all these years of my career Coming home and seeing each day how my son is growing has been a force that has truly kept me alive and given me the energy needed to continue My sister I think she has always maintained an incredible relationship with me My uncle the reason I started playing tennis I think thanks to him I have also been able to overcome many difficult situations in my sports career He has been a source of inspiration for me in every way I believe he has been an example of effort and overcoming adversity Thank you very much to my father especially And finally you the fans I have no way of thanking you for what you've made me feel You've given me the energy I needed at every moment Everything I have experienced has been a dream come true I am leaving with absolute peace of mind having given my best and striving in every way Only I can finish by saying a thousand thanks to everyone and goodbye for now
