And here we go. Floyd Schofield, just 22 years old, 17-0 with 12 knockouts, 5'7", with a 69-inch reach.
He's slightly taller and longer than Mexico's Rene El Bravo Giron.
Okay, gentlemen. We've got everything in the black on this side. We've got everything on gold letters here on how far good.
You've got my instructions in the back. Protect yourselves at all times. Listen to my commands. Touch them up.
Back to your corner, gentlemen.
This is our main event.
Todd Grisham, Chris Mannix, Sergio Mora ringside.
You know, one of the reasons that Schofield wants to limit the number of lunges he takes in this fight,
the over-aggressive movements he takes in this fight, is that the left hook from Giron is lethal.
That is his best shot. Upstairs and downstairs, he has scored knockouts with that punch.
Giron, the one pushing the pace. He's on the front foot, but he's getting clipped with that left hand.
That snapped him back, and Schofield may have an early opening here.
And it all started with that jab of Floyd Schofield.
You saw Giron nod as if to say, man, you've got a really good jab.
Tell us, Giron just can't find any answers right now. He's just befuddled.
He's being outmaneuvered, outspanned, outpowered, outclassed right now by Floyd Schofield.
Round three. Tell us, Giron tried to come out and be aggressive, but Floyd cut him off with a pass.
But this is the kind of fight he has to get into, right, Sergio?
Yes, he is. Like I said, it's going to be painful, but this is the only opportunity,
the only chance he's going to get to land something on Floyd Schofield.
And to follow up on what you said last round, Sergio, it is easier said than done to go to the body.
Because if you go to the body downstairs, you leave yourself exposed upstairs.
And Floyd Schofield is a pretty fast counterpuncher.
Not only that, but he's sharp with his right uppercut.
And that's a punch that I think Giron is susceptible to.
Because so far he has the easy knife part down.
I mean, this is all Schofield right now. Giron can't get nothing started.
Clipped him with that left hook, got him again.
And now El Bravo is letting his hands go.
Yes, he is. And this is the opportunity I was telling you about, Chris.
I think he just shook up Schofield right now. Schofield's rocked.
Oh, big right hand from Schofield.
And Giron ate that up. That was a beautiful shot.
Loaded up by a puncher. I mean, Schofield's a puncher.
But you got to give credit on the jaw and the chin of Giron.
Boy, that jab just doesn't miss.
Boy, he set that up with a double jab, Sergio.
Beautiful. And everything's behind the jab.
That's what they keep reminding him in this corner.
His father just tells him, go back to the jab.
Don't be slinging your hooks with a hooker here.
El Bravo does have a chin. You got to give him that.
Schofield could stay at distance and do this all night long if he wants.
Yeah, and that's what they want him to do all night.
And deep down, that's not what he wants to do.
He was very adamant that Shakur Stevenson might be winning fights,
but he's so boring, no one wants to watch him.
Well, we know if a man in Saudi Arabia wants to see a certain fight, Chris,
that fight can get made sooner than later,
and you know Schofield would be all in on that.
But still has work to do here against Rene Giron.
Boy, his dad is loud, huh? He can yell.
Dad is smart and caring, too.
He's telling him exactly what he needs to hear.
Stop, stop, stop.
There you go. Stop. No punch.
Here we go, guys.
Round number 10.
Schofield absolutely dominating.
And I think in the back of his mind, he still thinks he can knock this guy out.
He's not.
That's what I'm talking about.
Little body shot there that got the attention of Giron.
Oh, that right hand connected, too.
And El Bravo landed, looked like a left hand.
Anytime, let's go for him.
That's something big.
He still comes right back with something big as well
to keep him back on his back foot, boxing and jabbing.
Instead of, you know, getting aggressive with the combinations
and going for that knockout that he's looking for.
Floyd, let it go.
Dangerous at all times is Rene Giron.
There's a good body shot from Schofield.
Little shovel uppercut.
Right cross from Telez Giron.
A little sloppy now here in the 11th.
That could be a knockdown.
That's a knockdown.
It is out of the blue.
Still a 10-8 round so far.
Way to go, Floyd.
On the inside, this is where he wants to be.
Overhand right.
Cut from Schofield.
What a slugfest, man.
What is Schofield doing, man?
He's ahead.
He's constantly winning this fight.
And he wants to gut it out with a Mexican.
He's a broad entertainer.
And the crowd is eating it up here in Sin City.
He won't live that down if he does, man.
He was in control.
He's in control.
This is a beautiful performance.
A tough performance.
A performance that's going to turn heads.
And look at him as a player in the lightweight division.
But there's still time left for this tough Mexican
that's still not going anywhere.
There's a body shot from Schofield.
And a glance up at the clock from Kit Austin.
Just over a minute to go in the last round.
He's only 22 years old.
Keep that in mind.
Learning on the job.
And it was nearly a flawless performance until the 11th.
Ten seconds to go.
Tell us, Jerome.
Throwing everything he's got.
Good, strong finish by the Mexican.
But too little, too late.
The crowd on their feet, man.
And why not?
These guys deserve it.
Every single person in this arena, in this theater,
is giving these men an outstanding ovation.
Incredible.
Well, ladies and gentlemen,
after 12 exciting rounds of boxing,
we go to the scorecards.
And here are the judges' totals.
Tim Chito and David Semmelman both see it.
118-109.
Patricia Morse Jarman has it.
116-111.
All three for your winner by unanimous decision.
Here's still the undefeated
WBA International Lightweight Champion,
Kit Austin!
Floyd Schofield!
You have something in you.
Rage is your gift.
The crowd loves you.
I own you now.
In the ring, you fight or you die.
The choice is yours.
You bought a gladiator, not a slave.
My will is my own.
The odds are against you.
The odds are always against me.
