We have three ideas for must-do activities in Kelowna on a weekend getaway in the fall. At this time of year, the temperatures are a bit cooler making it perfect to be outside to enjoy the harvest, some wine tasting, and cycling. We brought friends with us this year and they introduced us to the Kettle Valley Rail trail at Myra Canyon where we cycled over eighteen trestles (wooden bridges) and through two tunnels in twelve kilometers. That’s a lot! The views were beautiful and there are even bike rentals for those without a bike. We camped at Bear Creek provincial park in Kelowna during our stay. The campground was conveniently located mid-way between Myra Canyon (the start of the bike trail) and the fruit and wine businesses we planned to visit. More on this campground can be found in our review video.

Hey everyone, we are on our second annual trip to the Okanagan Valley.
Yeah, and we're going to be meeting up with friends to go and pick some fruit.
And we'll be cycling the Kettle Valley Rail Trestles and checking out a winery or two.
Kelowna is located in the Okanagan Valley in eastern British Columbia, Canada.
We've just arrived here at the Bear Creek Campground in Kelowna, BC
and it's looking pretty nice. But one trouble is Starlink. We're pretty treed in again here,
so I'm going to go up and try and put it in the best spot that I can.
One important thing to note about Starlink is that in a heavily treed situation,
it's pretty much useless. So I've had it running for about two hours now and I've got nothing.
I tried to put it up here on the front of the trailer because the back of the trailer is like
very covered in trees. But even with the amount of open sky that I have right above me,
it just doesn't seem to be picking up any satellites. So I have to say again,
Starlink on its own is not a reliable internet device to have just by itself. You've always got
to bring some kind of like LTE or cell device along with you as a backup.
We are back at the Painter's Fruit Market and you might remember we were here last year picking
fruit and we'll link to that video somewhere around here. But this year we brought friends!
We are so happy our friends Christine and Sal can make it. Hello guys, let's go pick some fruit now.
So we just got a little bit of disappointing news. Apparently because of the weather this spring,
things froze and there is no fruit to pick.
You'll just have to watch our video from last year where we did pick fruit.
On to plan B. We've got to figure out what plan B is. The girls are simultaneously calling
all of the fruit places in Kelowna, seeing if there's anyone that has fruit that we can pick.
I'm calling West Bank, which one are you calling? Things are looking better. We found a place that
has apples and pears. So we did find some apples even though it's been a very bad year for harvest.
Look at the size of this pear. That's huge compared to the other one. Look, size comparison.
Mission accomplished. We've got some Italian prune plums. I'm gonna make some cake with that
and we got our pears. I might make a pie with those. All right, now that we've got fruit,
we're going back to the campsite and we're gonna have a late lunch.
All right, we just had our lunch slash dinner and we decided it's time to go for a little bit
of a walk. So we're going to hit up the Canyon Rim Trail. Well, bighorn sheep live here. They
like the grasslands and the rocky cliffs and everything, so maybe we'll see some.
That would be really cool. National geographic, like right there.
So one thing we're testing out here is our new fire ring. We figure there's not a whole lot of
wood in Baja when we go this winter, so now we have propane fire. So it has a couple different
settings. This is medium and it's actually putting off a reasonable amount of heat. Let's see,
it can go down. That's low. Oh, for goodness sake. Tiny little bitty fire. What's raging?
Back to medium and then all the way up to maximum, which that's actually, yeah, that's warm.
All right, we are up and dressed and ready to go for our biking adventure
on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail.
All right, so this section of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail has 18 trestles on it. It's 12 kilometers
long and that is why it's so popular and interesting, is because the trestles where
trains would go over are these beautiful bridges in the canyon and on a clear day we get lots of
amazing views. Today we are enjoying the mysterious fog. And it looks like we could find some animals
here. Lots of different animals. Lynx, bobcat, cougar, wolverines, bears, coyotes. I just think
it's super cool that we live here in Hope, which is the farthest, one of the farthest points of the
KVR. And here we are, all the way here. And I've only, yeah, I've cycled here and then to Summerland
and a bit in Princeton. Yeah, it's really pretty in so many different ways and there's just so much history.
All right, we made it to Ruth Station. So it was about 11 kilometers. It wasn't quite as far as we
thought. It took us an hour and a half and that was with a lot of stopping and taking pictures. So
it's not a massively long trail. And all flat, 16 meters gain. Perfect for Mel's bike. And really
cool with the fog too. Yes, that was nice coming in and out of the fog. I would definitely recommend
starting at Murrah Station and coming to Ruth because most of the trestles are towards that side.
So if you happen to be traveling without a bicycle, as we often do, no fretting, you can
actually rent a bike here. You can also walk it, it just takes a lot longer to do. And you might not
be able to walk the entire thing because it is 12 kilometers each way. But yeah, you can rent a bike
and that's pretty cool. Renting the bikes is at the Murrah Station end of the trail, so make sure
All right everyone, so you might remember. No, I totally messed up.
All right, here we go. We're rolling. Wait, wait, my mic is touching. What do you think?
I think it's good. I didn't turn on my mic though because
you told me I didn't need to talk. This would have picked it up just fine.
And this is getting to the cidery. Make sure you don't miss the next video by liking,
