In this video, we'll take a look at the Clone tool.
For this example, we have our different background and foreground elements
and the single layer that we're going to work with, containing only this tree.
We can find the Clone tool in Adjustments, and just here, Clone.
As soon as we enter the Clone tool, we see this disk appear
that we can drag around and reposition,
and this disk will be the source of the clone when we start painting.
Speaking of painting, while we're using the Clone tool,
we can see that our Paint Tool icon has changed slightly,
just to quietly announce its involvement here.
We can tap our newly spangled Paint Tool icon to change our clone brush.
We're just going to use the round brush to start,
and we can use the usual Size and Opacity sliders on the left
to adjust the clone brush size and strength.
Now, let's move the disk into position and clone ourselves another tree.
As we paint, we can see the disk move with our stroke,
so if we lift away and then paint again,
the next stroke will begin to clone from this new position.
However, we can lock the disk in place with a brief hold,
and now we can repeatedly clone from the same area with each unique stroke,
using different amounts of pressure here,
and not reproducing the same silhouette of that original tree.
Helps keep these pretty unique.
Actually, another nice way that we can clone details
and avoid things looking like direct duplicates
would be grabbing a clone brush with a bit of grain.
The Clone tool is great for a bunch of things.
We can use it to smash out some additional texture
without needing to redraw things from scratch.
Now, we can leave the Clone tool by unchecking the Adjustments button,
or just tap on any of our primary tools.
But when one of our primary tools is being used by any of our filters or adjustments,
like the Paint tool is here,
then we'll need to hold briefly on that tool to close.
