The Goddess Inanna Descends to the Underworld - Sumerian Mythology

Inanna, the Sumerian goddess of love and war, descended to the underworld to confront her sister Ereshkigal. There, she was imprisoned and killed, but resurrected with the help of the gods. Upon her return, she discovered that her husband, Dumuzid, had not mourned her absence. Furious, she demanded that he take her place in the underworld, sealing the cycle of death and rebirth in her mythology.
