Using the transform tool typically means that we intend to edit part of our image.
So it makes sense that the more control we have of the transform tool,
then the better we can perform that task.
For this example, we have a single layer containing the main scene,
and a group containing the different elements that make up the truck
that our character here is lifting.
So let's select the layer group and enter the transform tool.
We have freeform mode selected at the bottom.
Now the bounding box that surrounds the selected element
always begins aligned to the canvas.
If we drag the side node, we can stretch the truck.
But because the truck and the bounding box are not naturally aligned,
we just end up with a warped truck. It's not ideal.
We can get around this by dragging the yellow node just here to rotate the bounding box.
And it's worth a mention that if we open our snapping settings down here and turn on magnetics,
then our bounding box won't just snap to 90 degree angles,
but it will also snap to the optimal height-width ratio of our selected element.
Once we're happy with the orientation of the bounding box,
we can then transform the truck correctly the first time.
The less times that we commit a transform to something,
the less times our pixels are being redrawn,
and we can keep as much of our hard-earned detail as possible.
